Live Thread: Cavs vs. Timberwolves
2018-11-26The Wolves roam into town tonight having won five of their last seven since the Jimmy Butler trade. Now there are only a couple of winning teams in that win column, but Cleveland can’t take them lightly. The Wolves are at full health, and Townes, especially, has been killing it lately.
Karl-Anthony is fresh off posting a 35/22/6 and +17 night against the Bulls, so TT and Larry are going to have their hands full. Of course, Wiggins put up an hilarious 0-12 line that game, once again proving how wrong I was on the Kevin Love trade. Robert Covington also went 1-18, which means they’ve probably been locked in a gym since Saturday.
Derrick Rose is still gunning for sixth man of the year, averaging close to 20 and five in 30 minutes a night, and ticking above that of late. Also rounding into form? Dario “Hitler Hairdo” Saric who has posted double figures in three of the last four games.
The Wolves are not to be taken lightly, and the Cavs will be without defensive Stalwart David Nwaba tonight, and I imagine Larry Nance will start in his place. Let’s see if the post-Hennessy Cavs can surprise another team tonight.
Magic up 17 in GS. Steph >>>>>>>KD.
Doesn’t help Klay is shooting worse than he ever has this year. Curry certainly unlocks their offense with his gravity and they simply aren’t the same team defensively without Draymond. The four headed monster isn’t the same with 1.5 head and their bench isn’t as deep to compensate.
They are vulnerable like this. If they have discord like they have had, have injuries, or are sloppy/play like overconfident knuckleheads like they have in some series the past few years they will lose this year.
Agreed…. Gsw fans in my Twitter group dm agree with you and have convinced me.
Wonder if he is checked out already. I mean it seems more and more likely he is gone at the end of the year. Of course GS is still the team to beat if healthy and locked in this year. But if they can’t sort out these issues/aren’t healthy it is wide open. Maybe philly can go all the way if they get more shooting. Celtics have a lot to figure out. Bucks could be tough to beat in the playoffs. Same with Toronto. And next year if KD leaves…..Golden State isn’t quite the same team without him as they… Read more »
And then I check in with the GS game….coasting.

Cavs needed that extra edge tonight. Missed Nwaba tonight. I thought they said he had knee surgery? I hope I heard wrong.
I heard knee soreness.
In the west right now, one game separates 8th from 14th. Crazy.
Kyrie is 6-17 tonight but the Cs are still up. Come on Pels.
You know, even though we lost, it was fiesty & we were shorthanded. Severely. D was good. Korver put on a showcase. Hood good. TT good again.
Also a good night for ping pong balls. The Wiz bank another win before the tear down. The Bulls have a narrow lead in the 4th. Too bad Boston is winning.
Just saw the Cavs’ numbers… Harrison pulled off a rare minus-15 in just nine minutes of work… strangely, the starters all acquitted themselves, except for Cedi… didn’t see the game, so can anyone relate how Clarkson was “held” to five shots?!
This is a great coaching clinic about the pick and roll.
Golden Turd with 50… Gordon with 33, Wall and Beal with 30 each…
Rockets/Wiz is insane… tied at 125 with 1.0 left…
OT!
Harden with 50 spot and Gordon going off too…. still couldn’t get the win.
well, they may still get the win, but working way too hard for it.
Thibs showing off his defensive chops tonight.. they created turnovers tonight.
I’ll take a competitive short handed loss over a blowout anyday…
Damn straight!
Wait I’m seeing fultz comments…are the cavs interested in fultz?? Please god no…
I sort of agree. Unless they could get him for super cheap. I am sort of thinking he is destined to bust. I was high on him. But everything that has gone on with him and just how he has looked since his rookie summer makes me wary.
That shoulder will never be the same…
Was that the reason for the shot? Or vice versa? Still not clear to me what was going on there.
Let’s hope Koby and Dan aren’t dumb enough to trade for Gum Drop Bear 2.0…
Great fight tonight…. didn’t play their best ball but hung in there. Played like a young team… Fratello on the money, just couldn’t make the play they needed at the high leverage moments.
Cedi only starter in the negatives on plus/minus…. Clarkson giving them little off the bench. Korver a bright spot off the bench and hopefully we’ll see more of that.
Tough when Sexton, Osman and Clarkson combine to go 9-36…
Difference in the game…. young guys couldn’t come thru.
If Love, Hill, Nwaba, & even Dekker are healthy, we win that easy.
Tough loss. But they competed.
Just not enough bodies, and too many guys had off shooting nights… oh, and the turnovers
Yeah. Not a bad effort especially considering all the guys out.
Cavs force a timeout for the wolves. Let’s have a Reggie Miller moment
This team fights physically…they need to add mentally to the list. Consistently not making guys do things theyre not good at. Make rose shoot. Dont go one on 3 when you have wide open shooters. So much room for improvement with this current group
Hopefully this gets him to a contender.
As long as it’s not for Fultz, then sure…
Cavs not giving up… unfortunately they fouled Teague who is about automatic…
D and effort was good enough to win tonight.
Just a little too sloppy. Too many missed shots & opportunities. And a few bad breaks.
Fratello so solid as an analyst
Well this was a brutal night for Collin. Sort of exposed all the flaws repeated over and over on here
To be fair, Minny really keyed on him on both ends… and he’s still a rook
Sure no doubt. But if you take away his open mid rangers and force him to drive into the teeth of the d he has issues because of his handle and finishing. Wouldn’t be surprised if other teams take the same approach.
When other guys are making shots (other than Rodney in first half and Kyle in second), they won’t be able to as much… a healthy Love would be such a boost in that regard…
No doubt. We were very short handed tonight. Not having Hill, JR, Nwaba, or love leaves us insanely thin.
Yup… more pissed about Cedi and Clarkson…. they were awful.
Cedi has a ways to go unfortunately. Handles, decision making still need work. Shot not very consistent. Not sure he quite has the lateral quicks to be a lock down wing defender. Clarkson is who he is. Let’s hope Sexton doesn’t turn into him.
Sexton seems to play much better first halves than seconds. Nance is so close to being awesome, left 6 points out there on missed bunnies. Cedi got hosed on the and1, and should have hit at least one more three. Loved watching them battle and grow over the last week.
LOL Thibs…
Rough night for Sexton… Minny focused on him on both ends…
Yes They certainly did!
Thought Larry left Hood on the bench way too long
Korver was hot…
For Clarkson or Sexton though.
What John said.
Who’s handling the ball then?
One of Clarkson or Sexton. Plus Hood, Korver, TT, and Nance.
Need someone to handle the ball tho…
Doesn’t get any easier for Young Bull… next three PG opponents are Westbrook, Kyrie and Lowry…
Accelerate the learning curve…. looking forward to a bounce back.
Hood too cold now…. missed the open 3.
Tough one without Nwaba…
Dang.
Damn… Rod prob just too cold to hit that one…
Yeah. Drew waited too long.
Just said the same thing.
You cut it to six or 5 with this tech and possession and you have a shot
Make FT and hit a triple & we still have a shot.
Before inbounds?
One shot and the ball.
Just think of the draft just think of the draft just think of the draft….
Damn. Bad TO. Game was likely over anyway.
Everyone outside of Hood, Korver, & TT struggled tonight. Still, we fought.
