Live Thread: Cavs @ Grizzlies (#BearMinimum)
2021-01-07The Cavs will hopefully have enough bodies wearing wine & gold tonight to make a game of it as they take on the also-fairly-wounded Grizzlies in Memphis. They were down six players last night against the Magic, and sustained two more ankle sprains to Collin Sexton (who did return) and Dameyan Dotson (who didn’t). Among the missing are Kevin Love, Darius Garland, Dylan Windler, Dante Exum, Kevin Porter, Jr. and Matthew Dellavedova. If Dotson is too sore to go, expect to see a whole lot more of (checks notes) Lamar Stevens… I wondered about adding Cedi Osman to this list, given his clearly broken shot… but hopefully he can have a decent bounce-back game.
The Grizz come into this one in possibly worse shape than the banged-up Cavs, without stars Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson, Jr. both out along with Jontay Porter, Killian Tillie, John Konchar and Justise Winslow. They also sport a 2-5 record and a four game home losing streak which has them in the basement of the Western Conference. Memphis is also allowing an un-Grindhouse-like 112.1 points per game thus far, so it’s possible even a tired and depleted Cavs roster can find a way to bear down and claw one from the Grizz.

Ok, so we are 9 games in, the Cavs are missing about half of their roster, and they are stilp over .500.
Is this real? Are we ready to actually believe the Cavs are good now? Are they really going to go from the bottom of the league to top 3 defense? Is JB this good of a coach? What the hell is going on?
The Cavs were missing 80% of their starting lineup…
I’m not complaining, but i don’t understand this….
Me neither but it’s effin awesome!!!
JB is this good of a coach but they haven’t played anyone really good yet, either. The stretch at the end of Jan into Feb is brutal.
Not into individual stats too much, but…
Drummond (Fezzik?) is leading the league in rebounding.
Nance is leading the league in steals. And Drummond is top 10.
Larry Nance now ranked 6th in the NBA in D-PIPM!!! just behind Rudy Gobert!!!
Andre Drummond ranked 12th in the NBA in D-PIPM, just behind Giannis!!!
