Live Thread: Cavs vs. Wolves (#HungryLikeTheWolves)

If there’s one thing the Cavs are not these days… it’s hungry. At least they don’t act that way. Well, the young and very hungry TimberWolves are waiting for them tonight at the Q… looking to devour what’s left of the reigning Eastern Conference champs after they got gunned down by the Magic in Orlando last night. The last time the two teams met, Minnesota crushed the Cavs 127-99 on January 8th at the Target Center, and things haven’t really improved for the wine & gold since. Cleveland is also 0-8 on nationally televised games since Christmas… and of course, this game is the featured one on ESPN (so much for LeBron suggestion).
I’d like to believe that the Cavs will be competitive, especially since they still own a 19-7 home record. But, my instincts tell me they’re once again going to be lambs for the slaughter. Who knows, with any luck this will be the last time we see a few of these guys in a Cavs uniform with the trade deadline looming.
Prediction: The young Wolves make a meal out of LeBron, IT and co… leading the pack to a 124-109 feeding frenzy.
There’s always hope that tomorrow will bring at least some new faces to root for, and allow us to say goodbye (and good riddance) to a few others.

If Cedi can spend all offseason working with Korver on his shot he could be a vicious 3 and d guy for years.
I really hope that ty could keep cedi at some decent minutes every game. He brings the energy we need to inspire the team as a whole. Just don’t put shump out there to lose the ball every time he touches it or take a wild off balance shot. Cedi has been real let’s meep it like that.

And IT has a budding bromance with Dan Gilbert.
Mark my words – IT will get paid by Gilbert and the Cavs will miss the playoffs next year when IT averages 30 points a game for a 30-win team.
LeBron will move on to Houston or San Antonio or LA or maybe even Philly.
Let’s hope the Cavs draft well with the Brooklyn pick and can get something of value back when they dump Kevin Love.
I don’t have a lot of doubt that Gilbert will back up the money dumptruck to IT if Lebron leaves. They are BFF after all…
Actually think IT’s biggest problem at the moment is passing out of the double team on the PnR. Defenders can blitz him and he’s too small to see the whole court and pass the ball the open guy. He takes way too long to get the ball moving and I don’t know if it’s from a lack of confidence or a lack of height/vision.
Agreed…that is what teams who schemed against him last year (playoff teams) did, and they shut him down. Cavs really need to trade him to Warriors…
He’s a useful backup PG for ten minutes a night in the regular season (not playoffs). He’s overachieved. Credit to him. But he’s not a starter in the nba. And if he’s anything less than 100% he shouldn’t see one minute on an nba court.
I said it the day it happened. We traded irving, a superstar, for a first and Jae Crowder. And Gilbert made fun of the pacers for their return.
Yeah, that Gilbert comment on the George return didn’t age well…go figure…sounded like some moronic Trump comment…

Cavs zeitgeist completely changes with Cedi on the floor. The lineup of LBJ, Green, Korver, Cedi was so good, good rotations, floor spread, driving and kicking or finishing… real basketball. Energy is contagious and Cedi brought it. Even though he’s inexperienced I think LBJ and everyone had confidence he could stop the ball so they played hard all the way until the end. Even Lue stepped up and coached…
Wow, heartfelt story on the radio by Jim Chones about not giving in – talked about getting into a fight with a grown man when he was a skinny teenager playing pickup. Dunked on the guy one time too many and got physically attacked. Jim ended up sitting on top of the guy & punching him in the head. Guy eventually calmly asked to be let go. Mike Snyder didn’t talk for about 2 minutes during the story.
Jim has also got some less fun fight stories, like seriously injuring a CWRU player that he suckerpunched.
I believe you guys are doing a pod tonight, please discuss how criminal it is that Cedi hasn’t been seeing the court. I’m not a superfan, but it’s malpractice how he’s been nailed to the bench on a team that can’t defend a layup.

Just maybe Cedi will make Bron realize he could use some youthful enthusiasm & pace on his squad.
Too many vets getting by on yesterdays… can we agree the Cavs have ONE player who is hangry to get in the game? Everybody else has been there, done that… who has something to prove besides Cedi? That USED to be Matty D, which is why this site usually gave him love…. is his insertion enough to save the season?
this is why they should trade the BKN pick along w/ IT’s expiring to get an all-star back.. As CP3 said, don’t take LBJ for granted..
That’s a double-edged sword, though… I don’t take LeBron for granted… which is why I don’t trust him to sign beyond this year. That pick may become even bigger as the season progresses and Brooklyn trades their assets. As this site has expertly posed, what would the Cavs get for the pick? CP3, PG13 were last summer… they’d be the only players worthy of a #1…

Later, he remarked on a fastbreak that Thomas could do nothing… then, he casually remarked that the swapping out of Thomas at the end of the game was logical… for reasons no one had to say aloud…
I thought IT was OK for the most part tonight. What, 13-15 pts on 8 shots? 7 dimes.
There is no doubt that given his limitations on D, if he isn’t a big plus on offense he is a net negative.
However, it looks as if we may be stuck with each other for this year. So here is hoping that this is a lot of rust & unfamiliarity with new teammates. Plus, playing with Bron is not easy for guys who like the ball. Took time with Wade & Kyrie.

Not really, IT kept jumping around looking for attention, noone really looked down to notice him…
Embarrassing…I so wanted to believe he’d catch fire with this team and smack his old one in the face… time just won’t let him get healthy fast enough. Who on earth does he guard against the Celts or Raptors? I may be in the minority who believe his comments to the media were needed–didn’t we say much the same, that accountability is absent on this team? If he were healthy, his criticism might be received more accurately.
Still has 9 weeks. Hope that is enough time & we can keep the ship above the #8 line.

Best case scenario is he improves to the point that he is a decent role player. If we believe that Lue actually has a decent plan, it is that he is giving IT all the minutes in the regular season and will use him is spots in the playoffs. The problem with that plan is that Cedi could be making big strides if he was out there with the top players.
Lue deserves some credit for that last play.

looks like Cedi should play 25 minutes a night now…Crowder should get minimum and so should JR….dude hustles like crazy and makes guys work on offense….even Butler’s last shot which Lebron blocked, he had to work for and do fadeaway which led to block…hopefully Lue figures that out quickly. Trade deadline should be interesting now….about 16 hours away.
Cedi is so much better than Crowder, it’s hilarious…
