Sporting News Wrong About Things
2012-05-023. Cleveland Cavaliers. Harrison Barnes, SF, North Carolina
The Cavs drafted Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson last year, and they need to address the small forward spot. It’s likely to be either Barnes or Kidd-Gilchrist.
I do not accept this as a thing that can happen in reality. I just will not. If it happens on draft night, I’ll be as surprised as anyone that I have apparently been living in a Charlie Kaufman movie my entire life.
No way you take Drummond over Barnes. Irving will dictate the flow of the game and be the closer. Barnes has a perfect spot in that rotation. Drummond has the potential to be a disaster.
So who is this asshole “blogplay.com” and why are they delaying the comments for a minute or more??? :)
Waiting of blogplay? Godot got there faster…

I would definitely take Barnes over drummond, and Robinson as well, but that’s just because of position. Why is everyone sooo down on Barnes? Everyone pretends that he got worse from a season ago, but that is just not the case. He had a bad tourney, and might not have progressed as much as you would like, but he still lit up duke and wisconson during the season, and played pretty well against kentucky, florida state and michigan state, all pretty solid teams. I don’t know, but judging his entire value on the last 4 weeks seems a little off… Read more »
I think we may be overdramatic on Harrison Barnes here. Whereas he is not the option over Davis, Beal, or MKG, I think he is definitely an option at #4. I am assuming our biggest needs, in order, are SG, SF, C. Barnes is the best scoring SF in this draft. His length and size are great, and he is intelligent. Kyrie will get him the looks he needs. I’m not high on him after the tourney, but I still think he fits our team best after Davis, MKG, and Beal. He carries less risk and less reward than Drummond,… Read more »
Barnes would be wonderful at 6. the guy isnt terrible. Rudy Gay didnt dominate at UCONN
0% a chance Barnes goes before Beal. Who ever this person is hasn’t watched basketball in approximately 1 year.
I don’t want Barnes. I want Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, Davis, Drummond, or even Thomas Robinson over Barnes.
with 3 I don’t think they will take Barnes. Seems like Beal has more upside and is the better player now.
Say the Cavs get the sixth pick… Would that be too high to take Barnes? What if they trade back? What if they trade up with their later pick? What would be an appropriate spot to take Barnes? Would you trade the 4th-6th pick to Toronto for big V?
