NBA releases 2012 – 2013 schedule
2012-07-26Here is Cleveland’s schedule for the upcoming season.  They actually play the very first game of the NBA season, in Cleveland, against Washington on October 30th.  Obviously though,  everyone is looking for one opponent when scoping out the Cavs’ slate of games…
yep, on December 11th, Antawn Jamison returns to Cleveland. Â Mark your calendars.
I’m excited to see the young’uns – but I think it’d be best if you all tapered your expectations. Let’s be real – The Cavs were pretty bad last year and they lost Jamison and AP – who, despite what you may think, will be sorely missed from a Win Loss perspective. The Cavs might only win 30 games, and I’ll be OK with that as long as I see some real growth from TT and some potential from Waiters. Inconsistancy and poor defense usually gets mended with experience, but if they don’t show any elite skills once every few… Read more »
HoopsDogg, how long did you sit at your keyboard thinking of those nicknames
Nathan says: “I think the Cavs could be a 4 seed” That is extremely unrealistic… Even if all of our players step up, it will be tough to even reach the playoffs… Chicago, Miami, Indiana, Boston, Atlanta, New York and Brooklyn will propably all reach the playoffs… theoretically, that leaves us in a tough fight for the 8th seed against Philly, Milwaukee, Detroit, Toronto and Washington… (Excluding Orlando, Dwight wont be there or at least gone by the trade deadline)… Unfortunately, I really think we will end up in the lottery again, propably finishing around the 10-11th seed in the… Read more »
Excited about the Cavs season . Really want to see a healthy year from Boobie, AV, and Kyrie, TT develop a post game, Zeller be a stud, Waiters be D-Wade 2.0, a healthy year from Boobie, AV, and Kyrie, Omri put the ball on the floor more, Gee learn to finish left, Smardo Haslem, Garbage time Gody, the Kaleena Komeback, Kevin (should have hired an agent) Jones, someone other than AP starting at 2-Guard. I’m excited about the NBA sched too. Can’t wait to see the Cavs take on the Nash Lakers, Barnes, The JV/Bargnani front court, Royce White, MKG,… Read more »
Wish we had more nationally televised games. I understand that we aren’t going to be very good and there will be little national interest in the Cavs, but it seems like the NBA would have either given us games against teams like the Lakers, Heat or Knicks that have national following or hype behind them anyway. Seems like the NBA hype machine could have made Cavs/Raptors an intersting game because we took TT when we ‘should have taken’ JV. Or GSW could have been turned into an interesting storyline because we took Waiters when we were expected to take Barnes.… Read more »
Yeah pete, that does kind of blow. Glad I live in Ohio, otherwise it would be incredibly tough to watch. Now it will just be tough because of the relentless reuse of the same terms by Austen Carr.
If Andy and Kyrie play 70 games each we will make the playoffs. I think thats a good thing too. 1st you never know what will happen I mean the 76’s were like a bucket away from making the conference finals as an 8 seed. 2 you have to start winning to make free agents want to come here. 3 Its good for young players to win.
I could be under-estimating how important Jameson was to the team but before Andy got hurt we were a fringe playoff team last year.
Kinda disappointed that the Cavs got only one nationally televised game after the league shafted them last season. For a league that loves promoting the hell out of a #1 draft pick when they light it up, they should have at least gotten another game or two on ESPN or TNT… It’s okay though, at least that means people will continue to sleep on how good Kyrie really is for another season (unless they make the playoffs this year or the coaches let him in as an all star reserve).
Cory, doubtful. I mean, we are in the east. Most of our players would be rotation players on the likes of the knicks or 76’ers. Really, you don’t think most of our normal rotation is better than Josh Harrelson (who played in 4 of the 5 Knicks-Miami games, I tell you because I know you haven’t heard of him) or Jodie Meeks who also played in most of the 76ers playoff games? As far as Harangody or that ilk are concerned, who cares who the 11th and 12th guys on the roster are, those guys don’t see significant action in… Read more »
This is still a REALLY young team and depth is still an issue. There will guys playing in wine and gold this year who wouldn’t touch the court on most playoff teams. You need to walk before you can run. If everything goes right they might be able to win 35 games and be the 7th to 10th worst team in the league. If Andy or Kyrie miss major time they could have a bottom 5 record.
There are a lot of mysteries on this team, compared to others…besides Andy, we really don’t know what we’re getting with any of our players. If Tristan and Kyrie both have breakthrough sophomore years, Waiters is as advertised, Zeller plays like he did in summer league, and Alonzo and Boobie are knocking down 3’s, I think the Cavs could be a 4 seed. If none of those things happen, the Cavs could have a top-5 pick in the draft again. Realistically it’ll probably be more of a mixed bag, but it will be exciting to see how things play out.
I like to think we’re a fringe playoff team. There’s a shot the playoffs will be on the line when Miami visits the 2nd last game of the season. Here’s to hoping it’s Game 1 of an 8 game series.
