Backup PG, Anyone?
2012-10-21The Cavs are still in need of a backup point guard. The spot still seems to be up for grabs between Jeremy Pargo and Donald Sloan, neither of whom particularly impressed in the preseason. Byron Scott raised the possibility of keeping both on the roster, but that seems unlikely to me- one would think that he’d rather have an extra big man (Samardo or Kevin Jones.) Regardless, here’s the link.
@ OzzyD.
true, but Irving is out there 38 mins a game. We only need a ball handler 10 mins for any game Kyrie is healthy for, Gibson can still get 10-15 as the spot up guy.
@ Dani- compared to those two other guys though?
Ben,
I hope you are right. That is the only option that makes any sense.
Pargo or Sloan gets kept, only to be used due to injuries or foul trouble.
Get him next year Kendrick Perry Youngstown state university
Now they admit they have a problem. Last year it was rave reviews of Sloan from Cavs organization. I never seen it myself. It just seems they are Johnny come lately on these issues and then there isn’t anyone out there in the NBA to pick up.I’m very concerned with thsi roster. There isn’t an answer for Antwain Jamison.
How many times are we going to go over this? Dion is our “backup PG.” I don’t think Sloan makes the team but that doesn’t assure Pargo making it either. Either way, neither will see significant minutes unless there is disaster.
Gibson can be effective occasionally, but he’s really only a spot-up shooter at this point in hs career. He has never been much of a creator, and is a terrible shooter at the rim.
@tom Gibson plays a lot better off the ball
I don’t see how either of those two guys is as good as Gibson as a backup PG. With plenty of 2 guard options (including Gee sliding down) I don’t know why Gibson isn’t considered for the primary backup slot.
