It might be a while, guys. Saddle up, it’s going to be a long ride, bumpy ride.
What I mean by that, by the way, is, while I understand the Cavs are cautious with their star player (duh, we’re clearly not winning, why make him play injured) isn’t there a fine line between caution and OVER caution?
The kid is 21 years old. It’s not like he has knee troubles or something. I’m sure he heals quickly – that’s one of the benefits of youth.
Regardless of W/L, he absolutely needs to stay on the floor to become a better player. Basically, I’m 100% with you Kev.
Ya Kev I was thinking about this – not that it’s necessarily the case, but what if the electricity we saw from Kyrie was an outlier last year? We basically saw him at the beginning of last year, then he was done, and he didn’t really play as well at the beginning of this season.
Just a thought, but kind of falls in line with your mindset that we MUST see more of him. If he misses another chunk of games after this injury, I might start getting a little worried.
Yeah, once he returns, he HAS to play the rest of the season.
He got injured on 11/17, played 11/18, and then was declared out for a month. So everybody expected him to be back by mid to late december. It’s early december, and still a couple weeks to go til due date. Everything’s right on schedule. I don’t see any indicator of a setback, nor do I see anything to panic about.
I will say I am slightly pulling my hair out over Kyrie’s five injuries in two years. I know they are all random, but every optimistic thought I have about the Cavs is built on a foundation of “Kyrie will be a top-five offensive player”. He needs to stay healthy, get lots of reps, and become that, or this rebuild gets a lot more difficult.
@twist the lakers don’t have anything we want. No draft picks as those all went to phoenix and Orlando. Also Pau is not something we want. Plus I hate that the lakers think they can get away with murder all the time. Id say no to that in a heartbeat.
Maybe a nube questions here, but is there any interest from Lakerland in Andy? Some sort of tri-team deal to move Pao and grab a guy who would FLOURISH in a dantoni offense, not to mention probably suring up their defense. I haven’t looked at their contract situations or anything like that…but doesn’t Andy seem like a guy they’d go after?
Apologies as well to Mallory. I overstepped my bounds and overreacted. I had just finished reading the 70+ comments in the previous thread and got mentally caught up in the tone of that thread. Was wanting to lash out at like 3 others and lo and behold, the next thread was yours. Not a good night for me.
But I gotta say, there Is something about your writing style and how you come across that brings about the “vitriol” so to speak. Been true since the Ramon Sessions comments last year I suppose.
I’m just glad that it’s just a simply bone break and he’ll back in a couple weeks. If it was something like John Wall is going through with his out indefinitely knee injury I’d be worried.
Wait seriously, Dani, can we just use Kate Upton for every picture from now forward? I’d be OK with that.
My post might have been an overreaction, but I was seriously terrified when i first saw this…I was expecting to read that he had re-injured it in practice and was back to square one or something like that. There’s plenty of things to joke around about with this team, but Kyrie’s health is not one of them.
Yeah, Mallory’s so goddamn depressing to read….I mean, the Cavs are pretty good, right? What with our record being– never mind– hey, we’re only ten games away from .500!!!! (woohoo) RT #TarAndFeatherMallory
On a more serious note: regarding picture choice, I think it’s reasonable to show a picture of someone frustrated when we realize we have to watch Donald Slaon command the offense for a few more weeks……..I’m honestly unsure of what you guys want, and harping on pictures seems a little absurd. Maybe for my next recap I’ll go with a picture of Kate Upton.
I’d kill for the level of vitriol you receive, Mallory. I’d much rather be hated than ignored.
And come on, there’s no freaking out on my part. Like Cory said, it’s a picture of an accountant type (I think more biz man! – ya know, markets crashing and all) freaking out.
I’m merely letting you know The expectations are he won’t be back until th latter half of the month. That’s all. I don’t know how this is indicative of anyone’s knowledge about basketball.
Lighten up guys.
Are you guys kidding me? He went down 3 weeks ago with a 4 week injury…
Do the math.
I’m confused…was there buzz that Kyrie would be back early? This hardly article barely seems worth posting, let alone posting with a picture of a guy tearing his hair out. Can we stop pretending the entire Cavs organization is going up in flames with every inconsequential development?
Yep. This is not news at all. Nothing surprising or hair pulling worthy here. You know, as much as I dislike the posts from Cols and the rampant homerism from KJ and Cols, I gotta say Mallory does more to fan the nonsense and antagonism thats been on these forms of late. He is not very knowledgeable and if he is, it certainly does not come across in a majority of his posts. A great majority at that. I’ve been able to ignore it and just bypass his posts and comments but it has seeped into the blog a lot… Read more »
It could just be an “uh oh” of the product on the court for another two weeks. Hopefully Waiters will be back this weekend.
Why is this an “uh-oh”? Kyrie was expected to be out for 4 weeks. It’s been two weeks. Of course he has a couple weeks left. It’s simple math.
That article says Irving broke “his hand.” That of course did not happen. I am not sure this is really a surprise anyways. They indicated on the news last night he was “two weeks” away.
I appreciate the white accountant panic, but it’s beyond time for another series of pictures of tanks. I’m not really against their plan, but this years draft isn’t 2014. A lot of teams will tank for 2014 to have a crack at Wiggins and Parker. Shabazz and Noel are no Wiggins or Parker. The article of course brought up Andy being traded as every national Cavs article will until the trade deadline.
So is the logic that tanking now might be more effective before sequestration?
I’m glad he’s taking the time to heal completely. There is absolutely no reason to rush him back. In the meantime Waiters can continue to develop.
