2010-03-16Brian Windhorst has the second installment of A Season of XL Expectations, a Cavs diary.
“Interestingly enough, the top two teams, the Magic and the Cavaliers, have separated themselves from the pack with almost a two point lead in differential on the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only are they head and shoulders above the rest, but their four factor fingerprints are mirror images of eachother. Seriously, that’s uncanny.” [Tom Haberstroh on The Four Factors]
“His exercise was restricted, as doctors took a conservative approach to his recovery.” [Mary Schmitt Boyer on Shaq returning to Cleveland]
The GooseNeck is now a GooseEye. I’m just going to keep calling it a Goosie.
George M. Thomas on the quality of the Cavs Bench: “It says a lot about the culture of trust that Brown has created. That’s one of his primary tenets in coaching — he wants his coaches and players to trust one another. Right now it is paying dividends with the starters and especially with the bench.”
Notable commenter Colin Zvosec sets out to answer the question: Does the regular season matter?
I can’t wait for the new NBA Jam to come out. They’ll have to nerf LeBron though, seriously LeBron+anyone would pretty much eviscerate any two NBA players. Watching this trailer made me just giddy. Anyone else notice the Cavs logo at the top of the screen in almost every scene, regardless of which teams are playing. Wat up wit dat?
Speaking of NBA video games, show of hands if you’ve played THIS Gem. [Warning: Language]Â BTW, the character “Balthios” is supposedly LeBron’s grandson.
Tweets:
“It’s been nearly four months since the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to a team that’s currently below .500 in the standings.” [RealCavsFans]

@ Anybody
Where did LeBron’s uncivilized quote come from? I’m interested.
As far as the sortable clutch stats, I have to say I’m most happy with the +- per 48: 5 of the top 10 are Cavs. Actually, by almost any measure, you’d rather be the Cavs in clutch time than Lakers.
Jam was still fun, this game looks hilariously awful. Like three recorded messages and poorly rendered graphics. I wants it. Now.
i prefered Hangtime as well.
Am I the only one that preferred NBA Hangtime to NBA Jam?
Double post… sorry.
The previous post said Shut up and Jam Gaiden was like Final Fantasy; it’s actually much closer to Chrono Trigger.
Also, reason #41 that we should all be glad that Z is coming back: with Jamison inexplicably struggling at the FT line, the Cavs will finally have a center who can make FTs consistently for endgame scenarios.
Ha, yes, I can say I’ve played Shut Up and Jam Gaiden. It was buggy as hell, but it’s the funniest game I’ve played in years. For anybody who’s interested in it, it’s basically a parody of Japanese RPGs. Think of it as a cross between the Monkey Island series (for the humor) and Final Fantasy (for the gameplay).
I’m amazed by LeBron’s rebound rate in the clutch. last year over 14 reb/48 this year over 17 reb/48!
In those clutch stats, check out delonte: 66 fg%
Hand up for B,SUaJ:G. Amazing.
Who needed NBA Jam with the NBA STreet games. Which btw, they need to make a new one of.
I want to know if Lebron actually said ‘Anything else would be uncivilized.’ If so, that would make my year.
