Recap: Ultra-Quick Thoughts
2009-03-23Sorry Guys, but full disclosure is that I missed the second half last night because I was flying back to school. I’ll open up a thread here so that you guys can get your thoughts in, but all I have are a couple of quick hits:
-Andy’s off-ball movement: amazing. If JJ wants back in the rotation, he should look at what Andy’s doing. When you move with LeBron, good things happen. It took us a half-decade to figure that out.
-Yep, Mo’s shot was off this game. This every-other game thing is weird.
-My favorite Boobie game of the year, even though he went scoreless: the passing lightbulb seems to have gone off, and with defenses still closing out on him and him knowing to drop it down low under the trap instead of force it, he’s making a huge impact.
-I’d have liked to see LeBron do a little more, actually-he had the lane anytime he wanted it, and it really did look like he was trying to give himself challenges instead of putting away what could have been a trap game early. I realize I’m bitching at this point. He’s that good.
-Congratulations to Z on setting the blocks record.
@Pete: Boobie turned from the next big thing to lackadaisical benchwarmer through lack of effort and by imagining what he would look like on TV ever time he shot the ball rather than paying attention to what was happening in the game. He attempted to get by strictly based on his natural ability and made no attempt to better himself. Meanwhile, everyone else got better.
I love JJ, but I’m definitely more pissed about Tarence Kinsey not playing. Wally is hurt, and Sasha always tries to dribble when he should never. And Boobie has played like garbage this year until the past few games. So that leaves Tarence Kinsey, who has done nothing but good things during the few minutes he has made it on the court. When JJ plays it is obvious that he’s trying hard, but he tends to get caught up in the game and make stupid mistakes
I like what you said about JJ.. I don’t know what’s going on and why he hasn’t played lately, but I would venture to guess that it would have to do with a lack of hustle and effort at practice, but I’m not sure. I think that the hustle and play of D-Block needs to be pointed out… he’s been hustling his ass off and in my opinion, he’s been doing very well, especially for not seeing much action at all until this point. The other night on TNT they mentioned how he played in a D-League game and did… Read more »
My favorite thing about this game was the fact that the Cavs got to play at whatever pace they wanted. They were able to get good baskets by moving the ball around and working for an open shot, pretty much playing in 2nd or 3rd gear. But every once and awhile when NJ would make a run, they kicked up to full throttle (or maybe only close to it), and could do anything they wanted to a highly overmatched Nets team. This bodes very well for the 1st round of the playoffs, and maybe we can come out pretty rested… Read more »
