Preview: Bulls at Cavaliers, April 27th
2010-04-27Now is not the time to get fat and happy. It’s time to close out the series. Ride LeBron’s insane play, try Shaq early and give him the hook if he’s not effective. Take the threes if they’re there, but look to get a good shot on every possession. Contain Rose, win the battle on the boards, keep a body on Noah. Try to get something out of Delonte and Varejao.
The series is Cleveland’s for the taking. Time to play a strong 48 and get it done.
I think the frustration level here is a little surprising. The Cavs went 3-0 at home in this series, and only Game 5 was close (although another Game 2 was also competitive until the final minutes). On the road, they had a two-point loss, and a massive blowout victory. And they won Game 5 despite an awful shooting night by Mo and a subpar offensive game by Lebron, while Deng and Rose were both lighting it up from outside. In the big picture, that’s definitely an acceptable first round performance. In the era of best-of-7 first round series, you can’t… Read more »
How can a team need the so-called “wake-up” call after supposedly getting it just two games prior? Shouldn’t need a wake-up call every other game.
Jeez.. All the negativity lately.. We won in 5 games! We’ll be fine. This team just needs the occassional wake up call. Bring on the Celts!
Oh, I really hope this gets into Tweets to the Present: @ AkronHammer Joakim Noah called for a foul. Cavs PA system plays “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. I have nothing to add to that. Just wanted to pass it along.
i’m still not going to worry about varejao until i see him play bad against boston. if that happens, i’ll believe you guys
(that was also a joke. just like tonight’s game.)
Just put some steroids in that puppy and it’ll be fine. Unless the shadow government that controls the world and the NBA says LeBron has to take a dive. Fire up your foil hats folks!
the most frustrating Cavs win Ive seen in awhile….its like we wanted the Bulls to hang around as much as possible and even have them win..whats our deal with making it so hard to close out games at home…you gotta wonder if homecourt is really an advantage for us…we could barely close out a friggen 8 seed… Varajao is terrible…hopefully he can turn it around against the Celtics If we get a big lead on our opponent we need to show NO MERCY and stomp them repeatedly…im tired of watching us get big leads and then letting them evaporate so… Read more »
Anyone else want to see Powe get a shot?
Ok, that is it for me for the night. This is maybe the most upset I’ve been after a Cavs game in some time. Thank God the Celtics are the three seed and not the Magic. We have a crap ton to correct before then. If Varejao can’t find it in the fist few games in this next series, time seriously start thinking of Hickson and see what he can and can’t do. If it doesn’t work out, fine. But we can’t go throwing him out there vs. the Magic w/o knowing if he is ready or not.
I take one positive…LeBron played poorly and the Cavs won. After that, I see nothing from this game that is a good sign. Mike Brown being the least of it. LeIso IMMEDIATELY after getting 5 straight points from running a pick and pop with Mo and Jamison (counting the FTs). No shaq at the end of the game when he played his best game of the series…why? I try to not bash Mike Brown, but this was not a great performance by him.
At least he redeemed himself with that defense.
Who is just LOVING that contract now? I’m not being reactionary, this is how he likes to play in the playoffs in general.
Trade Varejao. Trade him now.
What is he doing there? Seriously.. why the hell is he dribbling? Catch, turn, swing to West. Its not freaking hard!
More awesome from Varejao.
Sigh…LeIso rearing it’s ugly head again. Mo gets the ball on the wing in a good spot and doesn’t even think about turning and facing. He immediately catches and stares at LeBron, waiting 4 seconds for LeBron to get open so he can give him the ball in a bad spot. It worked on that possession, but it just isn’t good basketball.
Agree Kevin, if we are being honest then we have to say the refs helped the cavs tonight. Shaq had a couple of bogus offensive fouls yet again, but overall the refs were giving more calls to the cavs than they deserved.
Last thing I spam, I’m promise. I was about to type out a hug Mike Brown complaint. Here we have LeBron getting doubled on catching the ball, and we don’t run a single thing for Jamison. We just force it to LeBron and make him make something out of nothing. Well, just as I was typing it Mike Brown runs a screen and pop for Jamison and he hits a three. Good job Mike Brown.
Varejao seems to have the same problem Mo did last year. Everything looks like it is in hyper speed for him. Unfortunately, I do not see him overcoming this at all no matter how deep the team goes in the playoffs. Also, this is the worst playoff game I have ever watched. It’s games like this that give people ammo for blasting the NBA and all its foolery.
For everyone out there who says Varejao is the Cavs 2nd most valuable player, I present you this series. Time to rethink that notion.
I’m sorry but I can’t stop. Varejao getting outhustled by….Gibson. Just..wow.
And just to keep venting…Varejao has had some TERRIBLE fouls tonight. He is so out of it I don’t think he can get into it. Just time to throw HIckson in there and hope.
It’s officially time to start questioning Varejao’s level of play in the playoffs compared to the regular season. It happened all playoffs last year too guys, not just this series. It takes a severe dip. It is more than troublesome and probably my greatest concern moving forward.
I love not reading these till late in the game to see how the game is going compared to the recap. We can immediately throw out “ride James’ insane play,” and really “contain Rose.”
I need to say WAY more Shaq and WAY less Varejao. Barely effective night for Varejao..but just barely.
Over/Under 14.5 for James in the 4th?
