In honor of Zydrunas, an early roll-out of #5 in #CavsRank!
2014-03-07On account of his jersey retirement tomorrow, today several of the sites involved in #CavsRank are publishing articles about Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Keep an eye out for each throughout the day, including Nate Smith later at Cavs: the Blog. Here is Kirk Lammers at WaitingforNextYear discussing the 5th greatest Cavalier of all-Time.
I’d probably have Z 6th, but I can’t really argue with having him in the top 5. His contract was an albatross and is part of the reason the team got so bad that it was in the position to draft Lebron. If you pay a non-franchise player, franchise money it sets your team back. Z was probably a 3rd best player on a title team in his prime. That’s pretty good. Do you make a list of the Cavs all-time best players with bias? Was Lebron the best Cavs player of all-time? It’s not close. As great as Price… Read more »
Lebron is #1!!!
(Autin Carr is #2.)
I don’t like it but you have to give it to the guy. He has been the best on the team. Still can understand how Terrell Brandon, and Larry Nance did not beat out Z but the number are what they are.
Larry Nace over Brad btw don’t know what I was thinking
It depends how they are grading. But since they have Z at 5 they are obviously counting character toughness, perverserance, love of the city; you know all the things that Z and Astin Carr embody, and Lebron doesn’t (to say the least).
Please be true. Don’t let LeBron be #1.
I wish it weren’t true, but I think LeBron is #1. That is unless he was majorly penalized for leaving Cleveland (in the manner in which he did).
If Z is 5 then at 4)Brad Daugherty 3) Mark Price 2) Lebron James 1) Austin Carr?
Tonight’s game is huge for the Cavs. These next two are against Charlotte and NYK. The Hawks next two is Golden State and LAC. We could definitely catch up 2 games and only be 1.5 back by the weekend.
Also, I love you Z.
