Cavs: the Podcast, Episode 47 – Jump on the Carousel
2014-05-19What a ride the last month has been! Does anyone want to throw up yet?
To abate our dizziness, Mallory, Tom, and Robert stepped in the studio last night to discuss the season, Mike Brown, Dan Gilbert, David Griffin, and the search for yet another new coach. When you run in circles, it only feels like deja vu.

Not that I’m trying to pick a fight with Robert or that I don’t respect his opinion, I just don’t get the thinking. Look at what made Price a great player — the preparation, the practice, the focus, the affability — wouldn’t those be assets as a coach? He’s a guy that doesn’t get his due because there’s a perception that he’s too nice. What’s Mark Price ever done that he hasn’t been successful at? Be prepared for harsher words, Thursday.
The idea to not hire Mark Price because he might fail and tarnish our image of him is some idiotic defeatist backward thinking. He’d make a fantastic coach and the fact that the argument for not hiring him is that “he was too good,” is just mind numbing.
thems fightin words, Nate
I would give up Dion in a trade for Kevin Love, you can’t teach hight, Kevin is a real Double/Double guy (26/12) not like Tristan (11/11). Plus he has the outside shooting touch that will open the lane for Kyrie.
Dion would just be the price to pay. I am a fan, I think that Dion will be better then Kyrie in the long run. But I think that Kyrie and Kevin are made to play together. In Cleveland or LA. But they will play together.
Why are so many folks interested in including Dion in a package? Yes we have heard of some chemistry issues with Kyrie, but at least Dion is interested in learning defense and is improving. Find a coach who can make this work.
I agree, with the Mark Price take. He is a home town hero, everyone who is a Cavs fan is a fan of Mark Price. I would hate to have any memories of Mark Price not taking the Cavs to the playoff, as a player, head coach or even a bus driver. If I found out the Price got the team bus late to a game it would damage the mental picture of The Great Mark Price. How would you feel to read Mary Schmitt stating that Mark Price end of game planing is questionable? But, I still think that… Read more »
I assume Kyriewannable is kidding. The rebuild is going poorly enough as it is.
Sweet, sweet podcast! Gotta get me some….
Thanks Guys, this is long overdue.
Thanks, AtlantaRob!
Tristian Thompson, Andy, Dion and maybe swap picks with the wolves for K love. make it happen!
@Cory- the obstacle to getting us some Love isn’t what the Cavs can offer….it’s Love himself. He wants to go to an immediate contender, and the Cavs ain’t it. Can’t see how the Cavs can give up the farm for him knowing he’ll bolt after the season. @rick- I’m very intrigued by Gordon as a prospect….but following Griffin’s desire for “fit”, I don’t see how Gordon does. We can’t afford another SF who can’t shoot, no matter how athletic he is. We’d be better off trading down and getting Jerami Grant instead if that’s what we want. I played the… Read more »
Mike Brown didn’t fit the team and vice versa. My biggest issue with Brown is that multiple teams have quit on Brown. It’s not like it was just an isolated incident. The Cavs look like the most dysfunctional team in the league with Browns firing. Accepting that it’s not working and moving on isn’t a terrible thing though. If Griffin wants a coach with the same ethos as him, they might as well start that union now. It’s kind of similar to Eric Mangini being brought back after Holmgren took over the Browns. Dan Gilbert is a lot of things,… Read more »
Playing ESPN’s draft lottery thing now that they’ve updated rankings post-combine.
For me, the top 3 we purportedly choose are
Aaron Gordon PF
Doug McDermott SF (their system thinks that if Pistons pick ahead of us, they’ll take McDermott)
Dario Saric SF?
Once, we were #3 and got Wiggins, though.. Jazz took Jabari & other took Embliid
