Weekend links and goodness
2010-08-14-Sorry for the inactivity, but there was not a lot of Cavs-related stuff going on this week. I swear I have some off-season type post all planned, but things can sneak up on you in the summertime — there’s 10 days left in my last official summer “vacation” ever. Kinda strange.
-Great to see all the HOF inductees tonight. Crazy to think about just how good that ’92 team really was. And Pippen and Malone both deserved a night of their own — they were so good, so impossibly good, and yet they both played in MJ’s shadow for different reasons.
-On that note, here’s 18-year old Krolik on Scottie Pippen. I literally can’t bring myself to read it right now; I don’t want to know how much I sucked back then.
-According to the rumors section over at the fearless leader, the Nets are planning on snagging CP3 via trade or ‘Melo via free agency. With a lockout looming, does anyone else feel like ‘Melo’s free agency is going to be a very strange thing?
-Because it’s the weekend: Scott Pilgrim is really, really good. Amazing visually, keeps a great pace and tone, legitimately laugh-out-loud funny, and Pill/Kendrick/Winstead is a murder’s row of young actresses with serious chops. Also, great music, including the Metric song I embedded. Just an absolutely wonderful movie.
-Kelly Dwyer posted the following video and said the following thing when he guest-hosted TrueHoop back in the day, and I shall do the same now: Good Night, and Good Scottie Pippen.
So I just watched my first episode of Entourage. Worst show on television. Acting is way below average. Jeremy Piven is the only guy on that show that seems like he has a clue on how to have different emotions. Throw in the fact that the entire hook is nothing more than A. tits and B. Celebrity appearances and I can’t understand how reasonable people watch that show. First and last time for me.
Pippen’s agility is incredible. The way he would cut to the basket, almost in a fast-walk pace, and deliver was incredible. He deserves the induction and he should had gotten numerous mvp’s, but they instead went to Jordan. I wish the league had somehow named dual mvp’s – it was only fair.
Without Pippen – Jordan’s greatness would never have been.
Is this what we will see with James and Wade?
Lol, at 1:12 you can see the last time Shaq defended the PnR I think. He actually came out on Pippen, but eventually had to scoot back cause god knows wtf Dennis Scott was doing (think it was Dennis).
I think it’s absolutely ludicrous that there are those who strongly believe PIppen shouldn’t be in the Hall. If you don’t think Pippen should have been in, then you are openly stating the only thing that really matters is offensive ability. You simply can’t keep, imo, the greatest perimiter defender ever out of the hall. He could have avg. 8 points a game and he should still be a HOFer.
And it will continue to be a crime that Rodman, the greatest rebounder since Bill Russell and an almost equally good defender, isn’t in the HOF.
Cmon Bron had Mo williams!! That was his pippen! lol
Amazing how easily he got to the basket on a lot of those clips. His usage of the fake and patience with the ball in his hands were fantastic. Would have liked to see a bit more defensive clips, but a good video overall.
not to show my hater colors too much but maybe the pippen video you posted a link to should end with him in the unemployment line…
Well, first of all let me say that I’m also a fan of your work in PBT. I participate in Forum Blue and Gold regularly and Kurt made me a follower of PBT as well. That being said, your piece on Scottie Pippen was actually quite good. I remember the ’91 Finals quite clearly and what he did to Magic. Pippen should have been co-MVP at least. Now, I got an invitation for you or any other hardcore cavs fan/fantasy players. Me and my mates set up a fantasy league where you have to do real GM work. We got… Read more »
