Delonte West signs with the Celtics

Here’s a link to the article. Good signing for the Celtics — Delonte can back up both guard positions, he plays defense, and he’s a pretty good fit next to both Rondo and Allen. There will always be concerns about Delonte’s mental state, but the Celtics have dealt with him before, have a player’s coach and a locker room of veterans, and feel that Delonte won’t be a problem for them off the court.
Delonte is always a guy I rooted for in Cleveland because of the way he played the game and the way he came clean about his mental issues — I’m really glad he found his way onto a contender, and wish him all the best.
I’ll miss that crazy redhead. I loved watching him play, especially when something pissed him off and he just went into eff you mode, like when he dropped all those points on Milwaukee or when he’d get the best of Dwayne Wade. Score on some guys and they’ll fold. Score on Delonte and he’ll come at you twice as hard on the next play. Good christ, please stop rehashing the Delonte-Gloria shit. Though give an award to the guy who made it up in the first place – by far best fake story of the year. But let it go. It is this kind of credulity that leads us to 20% of the country thinking Obama is a Muslim.
The Decision was decided a long time ago, years before Delonte tuned up Gloria.
Because I haven’t heard Gloria, Delonte or LeBron deny that anything happened between Gloria and Delonte, I’m inclined to beleive that it did in fact happen. But I can not blame Delonte or Gloria for LeBrons decision to leave. IF and I do mean IF Delonte slept with her and LBJ found out about it before/during game 5, then I totaly understand why LeBron would have been ‘off’, regardless how talnted or professional you are, your mom sleeping with your friend/teammate/colleague is going to impact you. It’s funny to me how Delonte discussions will inevitably end up in “Gloria” territory for Cavs Fans. I would like someone to investigate this. Someone to get interviews with the ’10 squad and get their opinions on what happened in Game 5 and 6. Maybe the whole Delonte/Gloria taking LBJ off his game is too plausible to not explore. Brad, everytime your mom has screwed a guy have you gone into a hissy-fit/crybaby mode? I think the celtics and delonte won with this signing – he will give em good minutes and they offer him a chance at a title, more so than the cavs had done. I’m not sure if he was gonna work here with coach scotts system, and it’s good to see he landed on a top 5 team.

As far as I’m aware those rumours were completley unsubstantiated. Even if they were true, everything that has happend post-the Delonte/Gloria incident, has still been LeBron’s decision. It was his decision to throw in the towel in Gm6, it was his decision to leave the Cavs. He could still have changed all that no matter what may or may not have been going on in his personal life. Well Delonte’s the bipolar who’s in the Cavs locker room and in the hardcourt. So he should be blamed the most for ending the Cleveland’s best era and its chance of winning a title.

I can’t believe the support Delonte still gets, especially after he may have been the main culprit in ending the best era in Cleveland Cavalier history, as Brad said. That rumor has yet to be confirmed, but there is no denying that it had/has legs.

happy for Delonte, but didn’t really want him in cleveland this year. I dont think our system is really that good for him to be a primary ball handler in (which he would be) Very good ball player though and, if he makes the team, will do very well in Boston.
I’m happy for Delonte. Part of me wishes he was wearing a Cavs uni, but part of me also thinks that some of the distractions he provides are better left off this current version of the Cavs. Like Z, I’ll root for him when he comes to Cleveland even in another teams uni.
I haven’t commented on here in a while, but being a fellow fan of Delonte this is bittersweet news. I’m happy he’s on a contender and in a familiar environment, but I wanted him back on the Cavs. I know it’s a business, but I really loved watching him in a Cavs uni. I’ll still enjoy watching him, and hopefully he can get some vengeance on Lebron for that hellacious dunkface the last time Delonte was in Boston.
