Mailing it in: Your Roster Changes
2014-11-14Long weekend here at the CtB offices. We all took off a day early in anticipation of this weekend’s games. The Cavs head to Boston tonight, and play the 3-and-4 Celtics at 7:30. Then it’s back to the Q for a 7:30 match-up with the 4-and-3 Hawks on Saturday. I don’t know about you, but four days was a long time to wait for my Cavs fix. I’m wearing my Ben Wallace wig, going through cold sweats, and clutching my Boobie Gibson bobble-head. (I need to buy some new gear.)
To get us through, let’s talk about whether you think this Cavs team is ready to roll through for the rest of the season, or whether this first half a dozen games has made you consider some roster changes. Would you leave it the same? Are there any positions/players you think the Cavs need to add? Subtract? Is there a shotblocker you’ve had your eye on? Does the cut of Will Cherry’s jib offend your basketball palette? If you don’t want to talk roster, why don’t you reveal your favorite Cavaliers mid-game snack? Heck. Share a recipe if you want. If you really wanted, you could even talk Celtics and Hawks, but wouldn’t you rather have the formula for beer nog and Triscuit nachos?

Give mike miller’s minutes to Joe Harris, a much more enthusiastic defender and more productive offensive player thus far this season.
Beer me for a peak organic hop harvest lager, victory oils, or any half decent craft brewed ipa
Autocorrect fuckery is strong this morning… Victory brewing co. Pils
Blatt already seems to have made the Matrix for Dion switch a semi-permanent thing. Don’t envision any more moves or juggling until closer to the trade deadline. Wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more starts for TT to get the Cavs off to an aggressive fast break start (especially in games like tonight against teams like the C’s). Was away this week in London but was at a barbeque place called Bodean’s on Wednesday night and they were replaying the Cavs/Pelicans game. I re-watched it in it’s entirety and had an awesome halftime snack/meal of bourbon chicken wings, burnt ends and… Read more »
Right now leave the core roster. I’d like Blatt to figure out the bench though. This team is good enough to make the playoffs in their sleep so let’s not worry about the core. Give the bench run when the Cavs face the likes of Philly and Orlando. Replace the weaknesses with useful pieces. Don’t agree with Allen unless it’s an immediate signing. I don’t want him at the deadline all rusted.
Should be interesting to see Zeller in action.
Love Ranger too. Drinking Laughing Skull Amber right now. Wife is into Moon Glow.
I would love to see the Cavs call NyK and see if we could move Dion for Shumpert.
Agreed. Probably could have done this preseason, but now, the problem is Shump has been playing so well.
Plus our de facto GM wanted to play with Dion so any pre season trade would never have happened.
+1 RickOH . . . . .
Since we appear to be headed down this path anyway, here’s for the first person to give a spinach dip recipe.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The greatest pot-smoking scene in film history?
Favorite beers when watching the Cavs (we don’t get Great Lakes out here, sucks)
1. Ranger
2. Avery IPA
3. Stells (gross I know, but for some reason I’ve taken a liking to it so it’s my default cheap “light” beer
Have to say that ice cream or nachos are my favorite mid-game snack. Shredded chedder/jack, jalapenos, (or sliced Hungarian Hot Pepper rings), one minute in the microwave, add salsa. (triscuits or tortilla chips) Beer’s a hodge-podge right now: Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, Brooklyn Winter, Ommegang Adoration, but I do coffee just as often. But the real treat is coming this weekend: Beer Nog. Last year, I used Leffe Blonde, and another delicious Belgian Blonde: Affligem. Both were wonderful. It ends up being like a more effervescent egg nog with delicious Belgian sugars and esters. http://draftmag.com/features/use-your-noggin/ Recipe by Joe Stange A strong… Read more »
Beer nog? Hmmm… Sounds delicious!
You like that Breck Vanilla Porter? I think it’s awful. But hey, drink what you like!!!
I didn’t like it on draft as much as I did in bottles. Felt like it needed to mellow a little when I had it at the Lizard, but the sixer I got last week has been pretty good so far.
I agree with Col about Marion and Ray Allen. Hide Alex Kirk in Canton to sign Allen… No other moves necessary, they need somstability to the roster and lineup this first half of the year to get used to it. Midgame snacks: Riceworks crackers (try the wild rice with sea salt and sesame) Anything left in the fridge from dinner earlier Drink choices: Sam Adams Cherry Wheat Woodford Manhattan Recipe: Homemade pizza dough for baking on the big green egg (heated to 575-ish, using a 14″ cast iron pan) 1 cup-ish of warm water add 1 T yeast add 1… Read more »
Big Green Egg, VERY NICE. That sounds delicious. I have to get me one of those.
Don’t be turned off by the price, you will have it at least 20 years and regret every time you are forced to use your propane grill because you can’t wait for it to heat up. Think about having a grill that will outlast your next 3-4 propane grills. Charcoal is a bit expensive for it, but the smoke flavor from it on pizza is incredible. Easy to keep at 225-275 (or any temp) once you get use to the air flow controls.. Priceless! My wife told me I should get one when we were looking at them, I told… Read more »
There are decently priced knockoffs. My office-mate has a Char-Griller and he loves it.
Until you have a fully porcelain smoker, which provides excellent heat retention, you will never know! :) There are other kamodo-style grills out there, but never used any.
Favorite beers
1. ANY FREAKING BEER
Leave it the same except for two things 1. Start Marion and bring Waiters off the bench (I know this means Waiters leaves as soon as he hits FA, but oh well) 2. Sign Ray Allen Otherwise, this team looks pretty great. Once they figure it out even more and Blatt gets comfy all is good. Favorite snacks? Favorite healthy-ish snacks 1. Healthyish chips and Guac 2. Popcorn 3. Pistachios Favorite non healthy snakcs 1. Nachos with cheese and jalapenos and salsa and beans and olives and scallions and tomatoes and guac 2. Regular tortilla chips and guac 3. Jalapeno… Read more »
