Live Thread: Cavs at Magic
2014-12-26In what may end up being the least watched game of the young season, the Cavaliers look to bounce back against the Orlando Magic on the road. With Anderson Varejao on the shelf for the rest of the 2014-2015 season, Tristan Thompson is tasked with manning the middle. TT will get the start after David Blatt’s small ball experiment against the Heat ended in flames. The Cavalier bigman has an opportunity to make himself some serious money if he can prove that his positive minutes off the bench can translate to the starting role. The Magic have some nice young pieces, but not enough shooting to be a playoff contender as of yet. Sound off.
Glad to see a win without Kyrie and Varejao. I’m changing my mind again. I know we need a rim protector, but we can’t trade Dion. Even though he doesn’t fully understand the game, he has some elite skills and athleticism that we will not be able to acquire with mid first round draft picks over the next several years. He’s just got to progress incrementally. Kyrie, TT, Dion, and even Love is our young core. Like Evil Genius, I’d love to see us pick up an enforcer. He doesn’t need to be a top player, but should be able… Read more »
It’s a good road win without Kyrie. I love the games where the Cavs dominate defensively in the fourth quarter. Just wish they were more even defensively and offensively I’m the half court
Dion’s skills are readily available in the 2nd round…you just have less of a handle on who will pan out. There are numerous 2nd rounders with much better careers than Dion has had. He’s a good option off the bench and has played a pivotal role in a few wins lately..but lets wait til he keeps this defensive intensity up for a strong 10 or 12 games in a row before we announce he’s not worth trading.
In other news, the Hawks are getting blown out by 30 by the Bucks (wihout Parker) tonight. Cavs aren’t the only playoff team who has bad blowout losses.
TT played a game high 40 minutes tonight. Good to see LBJ with just 37.
held Magic to 34 points in 2nd half…thats ridiculous!
also the refs in this game were beyond atrocious…worse than CYO ball for junior high kids
Delly would be a great player if he could make 3 pointers
Tristan was a beast but really only one who rebounds…gotta get other guys to do with Andy out
Interesting that Love wasn’t in all 4th qtr
Not only that, but 56 in the last three quarters. Only bad quarter on D was the first because the guards couldn’t stop the penetration and Magic were hitting everything in sight. Totally agree on the refs. They were worse than usual and they’ve all been pretty shoddy this year. There’s a reason Delly is usually open on threes. He just doesn’t have a confident stroke. Give me TT any day of the week. He doesn’t just rebound, he’s gritty and has a ton of energy. Love didn’t play because Blatt learned his lesson last night when he took TT… Read more »
considering Love had cement feet in Heat game in 4th don’t think Blatt wanted a repeat of that since game was close tonite as well
Yeah Delly does a good job getting to the open spaces but he has to sink those wide open ones
They must have had some free throw practice between games. Night and day
