Live Thread: Cavs vs Hornets
2015-01-02First things first…O-H!…
The Cavs are in Charlotte tonight to take on the Hornets. Both teams are missing critical pieces – LeBron for the Cavs, Al Jefferson and Lance Stephenson for the Hornets.
It’s getting to the point where the Cavs need Ws one way or the other. The East is shaping up to be pretty competitive at the top and they certainly don’t want to be without home court advantage to in the playoffs.
David Blatt is talking about simplifying the offense. No offense to him but the offense has seemed pretty simplistic to me all season. Maybe tonight they’ll stop trying so hard and just get the ball in the hands of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. The pick and roll/pop is still one of the harder moves to cover if executed correctly.
Let’s talk about it here!
Evil, Arch, the rest of ya’ll: ASSEMBLE!
@mcten: Tristan Thompson after 3 blocks tonight: “I got to … protect the rim, because like you guys always say, we got nobody to protect the rim”
recap is up
more ” creative ” drama —can’t we just enjoy a nice road win——any of todays earlier bloggers still want to trade love—that was a BIG TIME SHOT at the end of the game !!
The Hornets TV guys said that Tyron Lue was screaming mad at Coach Blatt for not calling a Timeout as soon as K Love got injured.
Will Coach Blatt end the season as the Cavs coach?
This can be a baseline game for comparison during the rest of LeBron’s hiatus. Will the offense be running any better two weeks from now than it was tonight? Because tonight the motion and ball movement weren’t any better than they have been with LeBron.
It was good for parts of the second quarter and nearly all of the third. They moved the ball but weren’t hitting much in the first, and the fourth was a horrific spiral into ISO hell.
Ok. I shouldn’t have pretended I saw the whole game. So maybe a B-/C+ grade overall? But an F for the fourth quarter.
That’s probably a fair assessment
I missed this game. Reading this thread it seems like we played pretty evenly badly. Us a little less badly?
The good news is they played with a lot of energy from the start on defense. The offense was a little shaky out of the gate. Really looked like they might be in trouble until Love went down and woke up. His shooting really gave the offense a lift for a while and they had their best quarter of scoring in a while. The fourth was a clinic in how to play selfish ISO ball with Kyrie and Dion co-hosting. Once they finally went back to Love, he hit the shot that saved the game.
D was solid throughout though.
Good to have a road win, even if it was the Hornets without Big Al and the ear-whisperer. Think this could have been a run-away win if they’d have just shared the ball more and fed it to KLove in the fourth.
great win
Wow. Allie stole that blouse from the set of Logan’s run.
Lol, great call! She’s got nothing on Jenny Agutter though
