Live Thread: Cavs versus Bulls
2015-01-19The Cavs finished off their West Coast road trip in style with a Hollyweird sweep. In their first game back to The Q, the boys in wine and gold square off with the division leading Chicago Bulls in their second matchup of the season. Cleveland took the first round in Chicago with an overtime victory thriller on Halloween night. Joakim Noah (ankle) is out, and Kevin Love makes his return to the lineup. Should be a slobberknocker. Go Cavs!
As a russian fan, I should say that Mozzy played very good and beneficial game tonight. But guys, you know, that consistency always was the biggest problem for Timo. Yes, he can play sometimes genial basketbal, because obviously he can do everything at his position. Sad, but at Denver he looked mentally lost other times, totally out of flow of the game. It was not a skill issue, kind of psychological thing or misunderstanding of Nuggets style of basketball (bad organised and chaotic most times). Let’s hope, that in Cleveland he will feel himself more comfortable on the court, Cavs… Read more »
He should also be better utilized by Blatt, a coach that has coached him before in Russia…
Man, I haven’t heard someone as down and frustrated as D Rose was in his interviews after the game. And some people thought this blog was negative. Wow!
Fear the Mozgov! He will steal your hope and destroy your spirit!
I realize Rose was probably talking about or reacting to how poorly the Bulls have been playing lately, not just tonight. But man, he was taken out of his game tonight (2 for 9 on two-pointers), and Mozgov was a big part of that.
According to JR, Melo is more of a “I’ll show you,” opposed to Bron is a more “I’ll tell you, then I’ll show you.” So it’s a totally different dynamic.
Chicago looked like the Cavs did one week ago. No energy. LBJ: Why so many ISO”s? He said after the game about moving the ball, but when he goes into ISO mode, no one on the team moves around. Love: Better game. I liked that he took some fouls for a change. Moz: Great game, especially against Gasol JR: Alone is better fit that Dion. Will be exciting to see him light it up on the 2nd unit Kyrie: Still would like to see him make some more great passes, but still such great talent TT: Love his energy and… Read more »
Agree with much of what you said except: Love: Not only took fouls, but also played very good D against Gibson Kyrie: Dude had his season high with 12 assists, cut him some slack… Delly: May not have a ton of talent, but he made some contributions. Will take a guy with his attitude and hustle any day for 5-10 minutes a game. Blatt: You don’t have to be a fan, but the man made some adjustments tonight. He def added some defensive wrinkles Fans: I wasn’t at the game, were you? They sounded plenty loud to me. Was your… Read more »
ANd Dion a better fit for OKC. BTW both JR and Dion are getting more mins by their respective teams and doing very well. But Man we needed MosGov.
Two more VERY winnable games at home this week before the four game revenge tour begins with OKC, @Pistons, Blazers and Sacto. Then finish the month off in Minny where they can hopefully put the Love v Wig debate to bed for at least a little while.
Blatt: Despite all the crap that was said…. We stayed the course.
agree with phil — love showing a lot of grit the past 2 games —teammates see that also —-good to see the cavs have fun / joke around with each other / sign of good team chemistry —-keep it going IN THE LAND !!
My hope is jr matures. He could be the key to a deep playoff run off the bench. The role dion couldn’t is the role smith fit enjoy
You do realize Dion was sacrificed to get MosGov? It had to be done. Both Jr & Dion had reduced mins in their former teams and struggled in shooting. They were both somewhat restricted and did not play the style they wanted to play. . Both came out and said that. JR’s interview said Lebron told him to be himself and play the way he was best. He already “fit in” He did just that. And Dion has ALWAYS wanted to run and gun the pace and ironically compared that style he would love to play to OKC last year.… Read more »
It seems crazy but the way the Bulls are reeling, it is possible that when the two teams play again on Feb. 12 it could be for the fourth seed.
That would make me happy for the second half of the season. Seeing a first round home court advantage would help Kylie and love too. The media will jump all over the whole lyric and love with no playoff experience thread.
Gonna be REALLY interesting if Cavs and Bulls wind up as 4 and 5 seeds respectively…
I hope you are not a prophet. i bet the winner of that seeding would be exhausted against the most
Ikelh rested top seed
Always good to beat the Bulls.
Man, I was really impressed not only with the new guys tonight, but also how well they meshed with the old guys. Some terrific ball movement between Love and Moz, Kyrie and Moz, Kyrie and TT, LBJ and JR. Good stuff!
LBJ with funny shot at JR during the interview. “Thought he was gonna untie my shoestrings…”
Looks like they ran a little offense tonight.
Did anyone else notice that the Bulls were looking for Gibson and every time got the ball he had the green light to go at Love. I thought love acquitted himself well.
Yes. KLove had a noticeable impact on the defensive end tonight. He didn’t shoot all that well, but he got fouled a lot and got to the line 10 times too.
Love didn’t look like the stiff he was earlier in the year. Mozgov might alone be worth it for love’s game. I think this is the team that we will have to watch for the next 40+ playoffs. I don’t mind it either.
I see that Love had four fouls. Perhaps his best stat of the night.
Even more impressive on Love’s part considering the blow he took in the choppers in the opening moments of the game. Couldn’t have blamed him if he’d been a little tentative after that.
After the way he battled with the bad back in the Lakers game and tonight, he definitely seems like he’s trying to tough it up
Cavs with the convincing win start to finish! Awesome! Based on the first two games against them, I wouldn’t say that the Bulls were the biggest competition for the Cavs in the EC…
Brendan Haywood’s usage this game is like infinity
Would LOVE to see Mozilla and Haywood go at it in practice. Talk about a giant monster movie. Pacific Rim 2
HOW MUCH DO I LOVE MOZGOV!?
It’s funny to think that this roster was starting a couple weeks back.
James Freaking Jones from the logo… smh
Here’s the garbage time!
One of Kyrie’s better assist games of the season with 12
JR Swish is killing it!
JR IS UNCONSCIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
We can definitely say that JR has avoided the dreaded Jiri Welsch disease that afflicts so many shooters when they come to Cleveland.
Oh man, don’t even say that dude’s name
Me and my buddy always talk about this. You “put on a Cleveland uniform” and you forget how to shoot
That Butler free throw bounced like 42 times on the rim
Sort of surprised that the starters have played so much, but have no problem if it’s helping them get comfortable with each other.
Blatt’s hand was really forced there when the Bulls cut it to 12 so fast.
Haven’t seen Rose in a while…
Yeah and I wonder if Noah could have helped tonight? I don’t think thebulls would have won but it would be a playoff type game considering how much he hates Cleveland. B
Noah would have at least cut into the Cavs’ dominance on the boards.
Agree, although Gibson is no slouch…
Mozgov with the 18-footer. Is there nothing he can’t do?
MOZGOV FROM WAY BACK THERE!
Oh no there goes Tokyo go go Mozilla!
Mozilla almost decapitated Butler on that play
Good ball movement on that play to get Delly a floater.
A Delly runner! Nice ball movement Kyrie!
Thibideau always has the upset stomach look. An antacid company needs to get him in a commercial.
I think Aaron Brooks just had his life flash in front of his eyes with Mt. Mozgov about to fall on him, lol
I bet AC enjoyed the butler airball
Nice to see KLove out there in the fourth quarter, even if they are up by a lot…
Urban getting his Cavs jersey
