Notes:
First of what could be a few games without Mo Williams — Boobie and Razor Ramon will have to show up, and it’s going to be very important to get those Princeton sets working. Hickson must be patient from the high post.
Hibbert will be a load inside. No Varejao, so that could be a real problem.
The book on Danny Granger is to run him off that three-point line. If the Cavs fall asleep on him the way they fell asleep on Morrow in the 2nd New Jersey game, it could be a long night.
Collison is fast and wants to get to the basket. Cavs have to keep him out of transition and do a better job than they did with Devin Harris in the half-court.
Hansborough has actually been pretty effective in limited minutes — Cavs should watch out for that 2nd unit and make sure they don’t let him get them in foul trouble.
Alright, that’s all. Let’s see if the Cavs go above or below .500 tonight.
Well you either have to rebuild through the draft or through FA. We can’t just not even try to do it because it’s hard to do. Just so everyone realizes, Igguodala is on the books for next year at 13.5 million, the year after at 14.7 million, and two years after has a player option for 15.9 million. With this CBA coming up why should Dan Gilbert risk a contract like that that might be waay more destructive than it already is now? You’ve got to have an established star before you start adding contracts like his imo…or else you… Read more »
^^Kevin I think u are completely right.
Igoudala will help the team, he is still young and if we can get him for a good price then why not.
I disagree. I would trade for Iquodala if the price was right. If the Sixers wanted to shed his salary for Parker (expiring contract), one draft pick, and the trade exception, I think the Cavs should do that. Williams, Iquodala, Hickson, & Varejao are all young and legitimate NBA starters. Gibson and Sessions are young, can contribute, and are signed for 3 years. If Moon could be upgraded through the mid-level exception, the Cavs have a solid team put together for the next 3 years. I don’t think the Cavs can hope for someone qualified to be a “teams best… Read more »
If they can’t get a guy with potential though, then there is no point. There is no point in getting Iggy, because he is a compliment player, and not good enough to be a teams best player. So unless we are talking about a wing player who can develop, and not one who has already maxed out but yet isn’t all-star level, then I think it’s just wasting cap space.
Anyway, two starters missing will be a loss 100 % of the time for this team.
The Cavs have to use their trade exception to upgrade on the wing. Jawad Williams played 15 minutes with 0 points, 2 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, 0 steals. 3 fouls. Parker, Moon, and Williams combined for 7 points in 68 minutes. There’s not enough offense and it’s really apparent when anyone misses a game with an injury.
