Live Thread: Cavs Vs Miami
2015-02-11Revenge is a dish best served in Cleveland. The last time the Cavs met the Heat was on Christmas Day in Miami, and they lost, 101-91. The Wine & Gold have been on a kill streak lately and are looking to continue revenging losses from earlier in the season. I’m sure LeBron James wants to make this a statement game and show he has no fears playing in emotional situations.
ESPN’s stats preview for the game is an interesting read if you need something to look at. This really stood out to me:
The Heat are among the slowest teams in the NBA, but they play better fast. When they play at 95 possessions per 48 minutes or faster, they have won 71 percent of their games. When they play slower than that, they have won 41 percent.
Focus on the pace because the Cavs play better when blazing down the court like a pack of Ferraris too. The Good Guys must contain Miami and keep them running a half-court set. Dwyane Wade is still out, so that should work in the Cavs favor, as Wade is still probably the Heat’s best transition ball handler. Kevin Love will be tasked with stopping Chris Bosh. Bosh had 32 points against the Knciks in a win on Monday night. If he starts heating up, I’m hoping to see LeBron check him and slot into the power forward spot for a bit.
What are your predictions? I’m picking the Cavs, 101-98.
Hey CtB Gang! Let’s all chip in and buy Cols a round ticket to NYC so he can cheer on Delly in the Raising Stars Game!
Get ready to see Delly fight through picks like no all star weekend game has ever seen!
He’s gonna be throwing up lobs to Wiggins and the Greek Freak all night!
DELLY FOR MVP!!!!! RUDY RUDY RUDY!!!!
Someone check with Vegas and get the odds on Delly being the MVP of the RSG.
@ChrisBHaynes: Mario Chalmers enters #Cavs locker room to chat with LeBron James.
I hope he brought Chalupas!
LeBron covering his mouth when he’s speaking to Wade/Bosh like he’s Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) in Casino. Nothing to see here.
Solid game. Lobs keep coming, they are really strong on those plays now. That’s how you get the big guys going 16-19.
Love should be fine, knock on wood. If not tomorrow then after the break.
LeBron was so loose after the game — really enjoying himself.
I got the 113 right, but not the 93…
By the way, is this the first time that Moz has led the team in scoring?
Great call EG!!! I think so…. that’s awesome!
32 assists is above average. No. Make that – WAY above average.
Every time they get the ball moving, they’re offense is so efficient. 28 pts from the bench!
No. Make that – 38 points!
Thank you U-Dog… my bad! And that’s even better!
Correction 38 pts! off the bench!
They are clowning on Shump!
Great win against the hated Heat! Keep it rolling Cavs! One more win before the break!
Feel better Kevin!
#facemask
Revenge game: mission accomplished!
HARRIS BABY!!! LET’s get him some playing time!!!
SMOKIN JOE!!! Like the way his shot looks!
Love it…. THey were just talking about his time in D League’s helping.
I was thinking it was about time for either a Delly trey or a Harris trey.
We’ll have to settle for an ice cold DELLY FLOAT
GOod call U-Dog!
That Moz swish looked awfully like those Z jumpers Cavs fans were so used to!
Awesome line: 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and many more shots altered
Agreed. Great game. Great to see him cancel out Whiteside’s contribution . . . as well as anybody else that entered the paint.
Called it. Hopefully the fact that he’s travelling and not going straight to the Clinic for an MRI is a good sign :/
Corneal abrasion still sounds painful… but at least he’s traveling with the team tonight…
RUDY RUDY RUDY! With the floater!!!!
Hopefully Loves eye isn’t too bad. He’s got a right eye abrasion and will travel with the team to Chicago.
He’s going to travel? Th’at’s good news!!
MOZGOD THE KGB ASSASSIN!
MOZ-BLOCK!!!!! EAT THAT BOSH-O-SAURUS!
WHAT TERRRIBLE CALL!!! QUIT TRYING TO PLAY THE SPREAD REFSS!!!!
What’s the spread tonight?
I think it’s 12.5 for the Cavs.
And that should do it…
HUGE HUGE HUGE BLOCK.
Another assist for JR!!! to Irving for an easy lay up!
Cavs playing the clock again not the Heat.
Late game scoring drought… Kyrie needs to take it to the hole…
There’s too much time left.
Apparently, Mozgov felt two personal fouls this late in the game was not enough. And I’m glad he was heady enough to realize that.
HAHAHA… We need someone to post one of those MOZGOD quotes…
Glad we had him to match up against Whiteside . . . and all those other Heat players.
Agreed…. I believe he outplayed Whiteside tonight!
Love how everyone touches the ball….when Lebron isn’t on the floor.
Dude still had 7 assists tonight…
Dude has 7 assists because he controls the ball 17:30 out of the 18 minutes the Cavs have the ball while he’s in. He should have 10 assists every night . . . by halftime.
Keep on trollin son….
Contrarily, I love how more than one guy touches the ball . . . when Lebron isn’t on the floor.
I love that LBJ is on this team because they wouldn’t be anywhere near this good without him…
I love Kyrie, because if he sat out that stretch of games they lost instead of Lebron – they still would have lost them (seeing they didn’t have AV, Mozgov, Shump, or JR)
7 assists doesn’t mean he shares the ball.
Sure he doesn’t… get your eyes checked W…
Yeah sure he shares the ball, one pass per one postion.
Which is why he’s currently in the top 10 in the league in assists… keep trying though…
They should have a stat: assists / usage.
Well, why don’t you spend your time figuring it out then instead of trolling LeBron?
Is EvilGenius Brian Windhorst?
Wow, that’s the best you’ve got W?
If EG is really BW, BW sure does a good job of acting like a doofus for some reason.
I can’t tell you how glad I am that I’m not BW…
The things is: Contrarian and W aren’t entirely wrong and make a valuable point. LeBron’s assists are usually high risk-high reward. As and example: from the left side of the court, LeBron loves to take a high screen to his right and then throw a pass over his left shoulder to the screener. This often results in an easy basket for the screener (usually Mozgov or TT). If the defense sticks to the screener, though, the easy bucket isn’t always there and it results in a turnover IF LeBron tries to force it. He often does. I understand why he… Read more »
Sometimes it’s not the point, but how you choose to make it…
“Love how everyone touches the ball….when Lebron isn’t on the floor.” and “Contrarily, I love how more than one guy touches the ball . . . when Lebron isn’t on the floor.”
…seems more like LBJ trolling than simply making a valid point. I don’t disagree that he sometimes dominates the ball or forces a pass, but seems like a weak point to make on a night when the guy nearly had a triple double, which followed another game where he nearly did as well…
I mean… it’s not like he’s Kobe or Westbrook taking 34 shots a game… To say he doesn’t share the ball is kind of a ridiculous statement…
^^^^^^^^ He’s right, you know…
EG, maybe it’s my mistake that I said Lebron doesn’t share the ball. My point is Lebron tends to dominate the ball that stop the ball movement. You can see times when he dribbles till the last second and throws up a 3-pointer or positions where there’s no passes while everyone stands still and watch Lebron. It becomes very predictable that he would take a high screen, drive and kick out. Sure he almost has a triple-double but how many TO does he has? How many pts translate from those TO? The team plays totally different between when he’s on… Read more »
Fair enough W… anyone who goes back to the Hill, Phills, Mills days is good with me ;)
I’ve done my share of complaining about LeBron too, but usually it’s because of something he’s doing (or not doing) at a given time in a given game… not because he’s absent from the game…
I get your point about his ball-dominance, but he does still move the ball better than most.
Sorry for slapping you with the troll tag… I guess I was just a bit wound up with the Heat in town… ;)
“seems like a weak point to make on a night when the guy nearly had a triple double, which followed another game where he nearly did as well…” is a valid point. It was not the right game to troll LeB. But that’s a type of player he’s going to need to be for the team to win the championship. A triple double guy. Not a 30 point guy. Oh, he’ll get his adoration from the world press when he scores 30 points. If thats all he is it will impede the progress the team is making in chemistry. They… Read more »
Got some serious trolls on here tonight
EG’s shooting em down like fish in a barrel hahahahaha!!!
So, we have trolls trading comments with a professional story-teller like EG?
and BW *wishes* he could write like EG (and several others on here)
JR SWISHHHHH!!!! FOR SOME CHALUPAS!!!!!
HAHAH that was hilarious!!! JR and Kyrie playing hot potato!!!
CHA-LU-PAS! CHA-LU-PAS!
