Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers
2015-02-27Don’t be alarmed… there is no need to adjust your screen. This is not a jailbreak or a hijack situation. The C:tB crew have just graciously allowed me to help them cover the occasional live thread and recap as the Cavs enter the stretch run of the season… so let’s have some fun!
The Cavs pull into the Bankers Life Fieldhouse after putting the brakes on the high-octane Warriors in convincing fashion last night, but in need of a pit stop with both Kyrie and LeBron out for injury and rest respectively. Unfortunately, the Pacers have been hard charging of late, powered by the surprising Rodney Stuckey and having also run over the Warriors before getting lapped by the Thunder in OKC on Tuesday. They’ve been off since then and have been tuning up for their showdown with the (now depleted) Cavs.
Even though the wine and gold machine owe this Pacers crew one for spinning them out of their earlier win streak, this will be a tall order without two of their big three tonight. But never fear… Rudy is here! Delly gets his chance to run David Blatt’s motion offense for an extended period of time (let’s hope it’s not 48 minutes) and the opportunity to answer even his harshest critics… or not. Cavs will also need big games from KLove, Moz, JR, TT and Shump, as well as probably some extended time from the Champ and Perk.
This tilt had “let down game” written all over it being the second night of a back-to-back, following an emotional victory over the best team in the NBA on national television… and that was before it was official that both Kyrie and LBJ would be on the shelf. But maybe the Pacers will be a victim of overconfidence… What the heck… I’ll say Cavs edge the Pacers at the finish line… 93-92.
Gentlemen… start your engines!
Something about losing to the Pacers irks me. The way they celebrated beating us yet again on the second night of a back to back when the night before we play a major contender. The way KLove still couldn’t get it going. The stupid Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. We played with them but still lost and that makes me cranky. Sigh.
Came into this game expecting to see a more true version of Blatt’s offense as well as some great play by Love. Instead saw a ton of one on one play and Delly trying to be Kyrie. Defense in the 4th was great but too little too late. Could have been a nice win.
Were you thinking the Pacers would double team LeBron when he wasn’t playing, and leave Love open?
Delly needs some run at trying to be KI so that when the day comes and he has to perform, he will know what he is doing and can give it his best shot.
Kevin Love let me down again. I guess he can’t put a team on his back because of the back brace.
Cleveland State is about to tip off vs Valpo on ESPN
I’d love to see Ricky Gervais or Larry David stand in for Blatt to answer questions during these post game pressers.
This day was doomed for failure. Nothing good happens when a team signs McCown.
Was wondering when someone was gonna bring that up… HAHAHA… what a terrible signing, over Hoyer???????
Yeah I’m done watching the Browns until they prove the can make the playoffs. I’m pretty sure that won’t happen anytime soon. Thankfully we’ve got the Indians and Cavs to bridge the gap.
I don’t think it is big deal. Hoyer thinks he is a starter, so he obviously “ain’t right”. BH is a decent backup, capable of winning a few games for a good team, but certainly not someone you can build a team around. McCown is happy to pick up a decent check and mentor some young QB’s.
Ugh. I think hoyer wanted out but still. Ugh.
Can’t blamed him… ownership and the coaching staff SCREWED him over. What a joke, only winning quarterback the Browns have had in forever and they bench him… for what???? Drunken Bieber Fan???
How did they SCREW him over? Did you watch him? It was obvious he can’t play at this level. Johnny FB probably can’t either, but he deserved a shot.
By benching him while they were still in the playoff hunt…. he had a winning record, which is something most, if not all, of the QBs post ’99 could not claim.
Yeah, he had some bad games, but people become so obsessed with stats that they forget which matters the most, which is WINS.
And yes, I did watch him own the Bengals defense in primetime, outplaying Andy Dalton, a guy who has made the playoffs all four seasons of his career.
Not saying he’s a Tom Brady, but Hoyer won games and had a Browns team in the playoff hunt until they started Manziel, which is something the Browns haven’t sniffed since Tim Couch/Kelly Holcomb.
I have a soft spot for Hoyer, but he is not good. Unfortunately, McCown is is also not good, and on top of that Johnny Football isn’t much of a pro either.
It’s going to be a while for the Browns. At least the D will be stout.
I really hope the game plan tonight was not to have Delly jack up 18 shots and he decided to do that on his own. I can’t really complain about the rest of his game tonight but he was trying to be Kyrie. He should have distributed more and shot less.
Second quarter was the game… played great defense the rest of the night… could’ve even survived the bad offense.
Cavs competed and I’m ok with that. At the other hand the Pacers were celebrating and they are not even in the playoffs picture yet lol.
Only 19 minutes for Moz tonight… what’s up with that? He wasn’t in foul trouble…
Definitely…. just saw that as well.
Yeah I don’t get the restriction on Mozilla. Some things aren’t disclosed.
Good catch. I think in general they should look for him more on offense, even when everyone is healthy.
Well never thought they had this anyways. Pacers are tough. Dirty but tough. I would’ve liked to see some Blatt offense in this one since we didn’t have the ball hogs.
Sixers on the verge of beating the Wizards…
Wizards are where we were end of December. Losing to TWolves and Sixers? If they lose to the Knicks then I don’t see Wittman surviving this season.
Wittman looks stricken on the bench. Like he can’t believe what’s happening and can’t figure out what to do.
Cavs played great defense tonight, just needed a little more offense, couldn’t make it happen. The fact we were in this game the whole way is a positive sign. Gotta fight thru the offensive droughts better and not get frustrated.
I wanted to say something negative about Wet there but he didn’t do anything wrong.
Shoot. I just hope Golden State can hang on against Toronto. The Raptors have cut the lead to 35 points.
Awesome use of sarcasm….
Well… it looked like it was going to be a blowout for a while there… but Cavs scrapped their way back into it near the end…
That nut shot to Love was compliments of Klutch Sports!
Kinda surprised they didn’t give Joe H any run to try and get some threes…
Totally agree…. somehow Miller took his spot in the rotation tonight, and did not deliver.
TT needed to give JJ the heads up on that play…
And now it looks like a literal fight out there… West getting annoyed with Delly…
And JR backing up Delly.
TT kicks Love in the nads!
