Live Thread: Cavs vs. Pacers
2015-03-20LeBron was questionable for tonight’s final match-up against the Pacers with an illness that forced him to miss today’s shootaround. It sounds like he will give it a go though, as the Cavs attempt to even the season series against a potential first round opponent in Indiana.
The Cavs lost the last two outings against the Pacers (both on Indy’s home floor), but the last time were without both LBJ and Kyrie. The Pacers themselves have been short-handed all year, but got some positive news today about a familiar face...
Indiana needs a bit of good fortune to go their way after dropping their last three straight to fall behind Miami and Boston for the race to the last two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavs have been rolling winning four of the last five coming off of one of the toughest road trips of the season. They’ve also won 14 in a row at the Q. Let’s hope they can keep the offense going, while tightening up their D which has been slipping a bit in the last couple of weeks.
Chime in and call your shot!
These NCAA officials stink! Some of these calls are ridiculous. I thought the NBA was bad.
It was interesting to see Love get a lot of run in the fourth. The one elite thing he brings is rebounding.
The 6-8 seeds in the eastern conference is going to get real interesting. I may be rooting for Miami during these next few games. As it stands – 6. Milwaukee 7. Miami | 1.5 GB 8. Boston | 3.5 GB 9. Indiana | 3.5 GB 10. Charlotte | 3.5 GB To finish the month of March – Miami plays OKC, MIL, BOS, ATL, DET, SAS Milwaukee plays CAVS, MIA, INDY, GS, ATL Indiana plays BRK, HOU, WASH, MIL, DAL, BRK Boston plays DET, BRK, MIA, NYK, LAC, CHA Charlotte plays MIN, CHI, BRK, WASH, ATL, BOS Boston looks to have… Read more »
Anyone else see this tweet? “The Cavs can almost determine who makes the playoffs in the East by who they feel like trying against down the stretch.”
Well they play Milwaukee twice, Boston twice, and Miami once. Those are the teams fighting for 6-8. We are done playing Indiana. We may play Charlotte again one more time but I dont think they will make it.
I am so psyched for this playoff run. This cavs team has more grit than the 60 win teams of the late 2000s. Some savvy veteran presence and blatt is going to play a big role in whether we are able to beat the Hawks. That series will be phenomenal if it happens…and potentially heartbreaking.
You can tell Kyrie loves Delly… And I think all the players. Kyries face lit up talking about Delly in the post game presser.
Blatt: Matty is purely a function of out working everyone.
In Blatts post game presser, Blatt noted he came to the gym early at 8:45. Shoot around wasn’t until 10. When he arrived Delly was working on his shot. He then went onto praise him for his work ethic…
The B2B Delly Treys were awesome! I wish he canned that 3rd in a row. That place was about to go bazurk.
That was an important game to win. They need to test themselves with some close half court playoff like games. They won’t all be pretty. That being said, I’d love to avoid Indy in the first round. I could see it going 7 games, especially if PG comes back.
I saw a headline that read that maybe by Saturday? THAT is soon. Guy snapped his leg in half like 6 months ago.
Really hoping Miami catches Milwaukee, they’re just a game and a half behind them and Miami still has 14 games to play.
And Cavs still play Milwaukee twice
As much as I don’t want to play Miami in round 1. I don’t think Miami wants to play the Cavs either. But it would be a fun series, especially if we smash them.
Would rather avoid that emotional roller coaster for Lebron. Hoping Heat 6th, Bucks 7th, Pacers 8th.
Let’s see, very exciting stuff.
Delly had a monster stretch of like 8 straight points that completely changed momentum in third. If he had hit that third three in a row the arena would have blown up. That was my favorite all time heat check.
Blatt with maybe the line of the year when asked about making the playoffs… “Well, that’s what they hired me for… and that was before all of these other guys showed up…”
Kyrie looks a little sick/tired himself in the post-game interview…
Wow! OKC came back to beat ATL with 33 points in the fourth quarter. Westbrook with yet another triple double, and Dion with his best game as a Thunder with 26 points on 11-18 shooting
Good for him. I like to see Dion have an occasional good game.
I don’t care who they play, I just can’t wait for some meaningful sports in this town!
Even though LBJ had to go off in the fourth quarter… it was still pretty balanced scoring with six guys in double figures…
I keep missing these games!
But I see Delly hit back to back treys – Nate must have been going crazy
He even took a heat check! Had it gone in, the Q would’ve erupted!
Pretty sure that’s an understatement. I think it would have resulted in riots…
To be honest I prefer that the Cavs face some playoff adversity in the first round so that they can get ready for the later rounds.
Oh, I think they’ll find plenty of adversity with either Miami or Indy…
What a game. That finger roll from LeBron was an all time highlight.
It was like the Jordan finger roll he had in his own “sick game” against Utah…
Nate! Delly went NUTS for a stretch there in the fourth!
I was going crazy. Wanted the heat check to fall.
Yea! Cols bought the whole bar a shot!
Now THAT would be something!
agree with joey—do not want to see pacers ( especially 1st round )—-NBA / TV WILL MAKE SURE IT IS CAVS VS THE HEAT —-BUILD UP ALL ” THE VIEWERS HYPE “
Cavs clinched a playoff spot tonight… KLove was the interview… Glad Allie asked him the question about how it feels to finally be going to the playoffs… Love it.
Also great to see LBJ and JR waiting for Kev when he was done with the interview…
A nice touch. And JR in the no-longer-surprising role of solid citizen.
He’s made a believer out of me… and I was a big critic of JR
Especially since this win means THE CAVS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS. Its been five years since that was true. Four of which were unbearable.
First time for Kyrie… first time for KLove… first time for Delly…
Great to be back in the post-season!
Gah. DirecTV feed over. Will have to wait for Cavs.com to see postgame stuff. Boo.
Enjoy the night, peeps. Good win. Not sure if we can get Pacers out of the 7th spot, but the boys did their best tonight. GO CAVS!
Cavs might want to consider resting the starting lineup for both of the Celtics games…
Give both games and let the Celtics take the 7th seed from Miami or Indiana? Ya, I’d be ok with that.
“It’s just a coincidence, Mr. Commissioner, that these games come at a good time to rest our players.”
It seems the Cavs will get the Heat in the first round. Just wait and see unless they…..
Well, that was too close for comfort. I do not want the Pacers in round one. I have no doubt we could take the series, but at best it will be a difficult, hard fought, series. No, thank you.
Yeah, they make it about as unpleasant as possible.
Agree times five thousand. I’d rather play Chicago, Toronto, whoever. Other than Atlanta, the Pacers are our worst match up.
Or the headtrip of playing the Heat for LBJ…
At least there was some Moz and KLove sightings in the fourth…
My favorite part of the game.
Thanks God LeBron was “sick” today!!!
And I mean it in a good way.
Cavs win! The Evil Genius Recap Jinx is OVER!!
You were Re-capping?! No wonder that was so close.
Thanks for the confidence JoeyB ;)
Good on ya, mate!
Seemed like it should have been a five second call… but whatever!
Perfect Defense! Cavs win a tough one!
GREAT call putting Moz on the inbounds!
Once again, let me just say a big Thank You to Gilbert for twice paying Mike Brown not to coach this team.
AMEN to THAT!
Agreed. My best friend argues with me all the time about how he would rather have Mike Brown coaching this team. I just shake my head in disbelief.
Out of bounds view seemed to show that as LeBron’s idea. Good call, King.
Cavs pull out the win with the well-executed long-rebound chase-down!
Cavs hang in there. Good hustle by Shump and JR.
Not time for a foul here. No one on the Pacers is automatic on the catch and shoot under pressure.
Please don’t allow a 3 and don’t foul.
If someone fouls a three point shot i’m going to smash my head through this monitor. Looking at you J.R.
Andy V looks more and more like a bad guy from Miami Vice every game on the sidelines…
He looks MORE like that? He started out that way!
LOL
Ok, how does ‘LOL’ not get rejected by the commenting system for being too short?
Cause I’m running the thread tonight… ;)
Power really does corrupt.
And absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Yeah, I didn’t even realize it, until it didn’t stop me on a short post…
And now comes the other issues the Cavs have…. FT’s.
Not for JR!
JR and Shump really saved that possession!
Cavs just got REAAAAAAALLLLYYYY lucky right there….
