Finals Live Thread: Game 3 Warriors @ Cavs
2015-06-09The Cavaliers did what they had to do to snag a game at Oracle Arena, and return to Cleveland with a 1-1 split. They now have seized home court advantage in the series as they get set to face the Warriors in a pivotal Game 3 at the Q, a place where LeBron and Company have a formidable 26-2 record since the King returned from his mid-season fort-night sabbatical.
With a victory tonight, the Cavs can take a firm grasp on the momentum of this see-saw battle of a Finals, and put the favored Warriors in a tenuous position. They know it won’t be easy, however, with a Golden State team that ripped off a league-high 28 games on the road during the regular season and another five in the playoffs. They also have league MVP, Steph Curry, who will be looking to get a grip on his shooting game that went south (or in this case… “down under”) in Game 2.
Though it’s likely that Curry will shoot better than the last time out, it’s also likely that the Cavs will better their 32% shooting as well, especially in the more familiar confines of home. LeBron James and his band of gritty, “grown-ass men” also seem galvanized by getting their hands on the franchise’s first Finals win ever. They will be prepared with plenty more non-cute, unsexy, grindhouse basketball, not to mention some secret motivation that is driving Bron. And as long as he can avoid the clutches of the Warrior defenders (see above photo that Dan Gilbert used to have fun at their expense), he should once again have the Cavs right there in the end.
Time to GET LOUD CLEVELAND!
Nate just posted the Quickhit Podcast from Game 3… check it out!
Thanks for the heads up, now im fighting over what to listen first, the after game interviews of Blatt, Jr, Shump or the podcast.. tough tough decisions :)
You can’t go wrong either way!
Did you know?
The Warriors have not had the lead after any quarter this series, other than at the end of overtime in Game 1.
If the Cavs manage to win game 4, wonder if the media narrative will shift.
not a chance. Golden state will be the favorite until the final buzzer of the cavs victory in Game 5. That’s right. I’m predicting the cavs find a way to close it out in 5. I will be surprised but not stunned if it happens. And i will NOT be surprised if Joe Harris scores meaningful buckets in this series in the next couple games. Watch David Blatt find him some useful minutes. Just watch it. It will be so gratifying to hear the media say something like “blatt’s last resort was for the rookie’s fresh legs…and how lucky was… Read more »
What kills me is hearing these Warriors fans on my FB when Cavs win as if they are lucky, oh Curry had a bad shooting night, ohh this and that, its like come on man, is it soo hard to be objective ?. Right now im just staying quiet and leaving them talk and when Cavs reach to 4 wins I will blast all of them
Man, if this series goes much longer its going to be Lebron, Haywood, Marion, Joe Harris, Lebron Jr. We’re running out of bodies.
This just in…Delly drives a Mazda. He’s “Mazdaratti”

I love that I can always count on Iman Shumpert getting a steal under the rim/baseline when someone goes up for a shot
How is this even possible? All our injury problem coming into this game and then we wind up with Shump getting hurt and Delly in the hospital. Meanwhile Green has a sore back? I know the lack of depth is begetting more lack of depth at this point but come on?
Another funny thing about that whole sequence is that after Delly went for Green’s leg, while Green was on the ground he went for Delly’s ankle , but ofcourse no one will see that
Re-watching the post-game coverage… Sounds like LBJ, Jr. was out after the game hitting NBA threes… Sign that kid up for Game 4!
Hope Shump is okay… here’s his amazing quote after the game about his shoulder…
“I think it’s just bruised,” Shumpert said after finishing with three points, three rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes. “Bruised, sprained, something. … I’ll be all right.”
Man, I can’t WAIT to hear what Mychal Thompson will say about this game on the radio in the morning…
Oh man, he is the absolute worst. I’ve never heard him offer anything 1% insightful regarding the game of basketball.
Yeah… so hard to listen to 710 during the playoffs… I usually just stream 92.3 the Fan on my phone…
They’re terrible, but I find Mychal Thompson endearing. Flip it over to 570’s LA Today (I think that’s what it’s called) for the most vapid show in the known universe. Just horrendous.
Yeah 570 is the absolute WORST! LA sports radio is pretty bad in general. I listen to Jim Rome a lot cause at least he’s fairly entertaining (even if I don’t always agree with his takes). But lately, I’ve just been streaming 92.3 The Fan or listening to podcasts…
Man, Delly admitted to the hospital. This kid will play until he drops dead on the court. I hope he’s okay. Thank God it wasn’t another OT.
He just wanted to catch up with Kyrie :)
The supposed “worst player ever in a Finals to get major minutes”?
That makes sense. The CAVS need to game plan for David Lee. He killed us earlier in February. Surprised Kerr hasn’t used him more.
I love that DELLY responded to Draymonds dirty screen by throwing a nice little push.
Who wants the basketball?!!!
I’d honestly love to hear from the refs why that wasn’t a foul on Lee.
Cols doesn’t know what to do?
Keep your Focus now. Come out next game like your three down. Try to literally blow them out of the water first quarter using a fast rim attack slamming almost everything or using. Square for assurance of Points scored then slow it down to the grind. see if you can do to them what there plains will be early attack. Steal there momentum and gas. As us see it working stress will enter them keep your heads beat them at the rim. And make the foul you then tare them down by making them watch you rest and beat them… Read more »
Posted on the Cavs whiteboard b4 game 4, probably.
That’s a big whiteboard…
Man Delly admitted to the hospital with severe cramping….
Dude is just leaving it all on the court
Yeah who doesn’t love that? Glad to hear fans support him. He may get more cheers than LeBron right now.
That has to be some severe cramping, sheesh. I’m concerned! We need Delly to be as close to 100% as possible.
@ROSGO21 reports that Draymond Green hurt his back in Game 2 after a fall in the third quarter
When Curry has been left open in the Finals, he’s 2-of-11 (18.2%) on uncontested 3’s. He shot 58.8% on uncontested 3’s in the 1st 3 rounds.
I said the Warriors were calm, almost cheerful in the locker room after going down 1-2 to Memphis. This scene was totally different
Did you guys see this???! Delly got body checked by Green and comes right back at him at the start of the game. Love it!

Also headline implying he went for his nuts is such BS
Delly puked 5 times after the game
Kid just tries harder than anyone… amazing to have him on this team!
Yeah, this is more evidence that Delly is ‘dirty’ to some people. If anything, that clip is Green taking a dirty shot, and Delly gets right back in play. He maybe takes a shot at Green, hard to tell, but I wouldn’t blame him if he did. It was a foul on Green that was, once again, uncalled. The ‘Delly is dirty’ narrative is beyond tired.
Forgot to mention that Green flopped on the play, too. He sucks.
What a DOUCHE!
Took the words out of my mouth. I am trying to use different words to describe him. ;)
