Hopped in studio last night with my friend Mark Neal as we gear up for the 2015-2016 NBA season. We talked about Tristan Thompson’s contract, the NBA GM survey, and other news around the association. Tune in on Thursdays throughout the NBA season. www.wingam.com/listen
MDN! Congrats! As much as I wanted Quinn Cook on the team, Cunnigham really wone me over this off-season.
I agree. Would be great to see him “blossom” as a Cav….seems like a lot of potential there but hasn’t quite surfaced yet. Already a good, athletic defender. Seems like if he can get his shots to fall more consistently he could be a valuable addition.
LETS SEE THAT SHOE COLLECTION YOOOOO
I can’t wait until Tuesday!!!!! My head is going bonkers!!!!
Went to the bakery to get bagels this morning at 7 am. 7 AM!!! ON A SATURDAY!!!! WHAT AM I DOING?!
I guess 7 am isn’t that early,but for me on a Saturday, it’s early.
As LeBron gets older, he obviously not be as spectacular physically. But, he might be better as he front man of a dynasty. Look at the roster of stars and solid glue players the team has assembled. This will allow him to play more of a super point forward role. He should be able to attract another excellent player every year. Consider the change from last year’s roster: From: Angry Smurf, Miller, Matrix, ??? to Mo, Jefferson, Kaun, and MDN. That is a huge upgrade to anyone’s bench. BTW, who was the 15th player at the end last year? I… Read more »
A.J. Price had that hallowed honor.
Brendan Haywood. But they only carried 14 last year.
I’m highly interested in the production of the Cavs’ bench this season. It should be a significant part of the team for us Cavs fans to look into as the Cavs had the worst bench in the league last season. Literally, dead last.
I don’t think I will listen to the Lowe Post with JVG… since it sounds like JVG is just spouting nonsense…
JVG thinks Noah may be let go in offseason because of Bobby Portis.
@twithersAP: LeBron on Popovich taking over US team from Coach K: “It’s almost like “The Godfather.” We hand it off to Michael Corleone now.”
Listening to the new Lowe Post with JVG, they are talking about Tristan.
And talking more Cavs, but JVG still has a West team winning the championship.
Zach Lowe asked JVG does it matter who comes out of the West? Ultimately will they win the championship regardless. And JVG doesn’t think it will matter, any team winning the west will beat the Cavs.

Does anyone believe the entire Central Division will make the playoffs this year? If not 4 of 5?
It’s a great division. People have their eye on Milwaukee and Indiana, but I think Detroit will seriously surprise people.
About lebron’s achy back, it seems obvious what’s going on, although none of the parties involved are coming out and saying it. We all know after lebron’s 2 week break last January, he came back better than ever and the team finally started clicking with the new players and everything. He received the same back shot at the start of that break. It seems like the cavs are just doing the exact same thing this year, but making sure it’s taken care of before the season with the hope it will last. Last year’s break=2 weeks. This year’s break=shot on… Read more »
I’m definitely concerned. LeBron has a TON of miles for a 30-31 year old. Joe Vardon, who likes to find ways to cut down the Cavs (see Cleveland.com last season), interviewed a Kent State Doctor, who stated LeBron may need back surgery, despite ever examining LeBron. I’m not sure if Vardon was at a party at Kent State and met someone who claimed to be a doctor, or if he actually spoke with a physician. Regardless, we need a narrative because Kevin Love signed a 5 yr deal, Tristan signed a 5 yr deal, and Blatt is still the coach.… Read more »
I’ll admit I’m taking things out of context from that Vardon article, but I just generally don’t trust him. He seems to try and constantly find the negative with this team, and I didn’t like how he attacked Blatt last season. This isn’t a Bengazi hearing, it’s a Cavs post game interview Joe!
Bill Simmons is great to listen to, but he makes some of the most backhanded compliments to the Cavs.
Yeah, he’s a fun listen, but he truly hates LeBron. He pretends not to, but you can tell he can’t stand that LeBron is so great.
When he threw his tantrum on TV after the Cavs won the Wiggins lottery and then subsequently stated that he felt any team BUT Cleveland deserved to win that pick….I about lost my mind. I wrote this, which, if I could write it again, would read as a more direct counter to BS. (I kinda snuck it in there)

Hellavadova!
Oops, didn’t mean to post this here.
I love that you did though.
Truly amazing that he’s gotten to where he is while never ceasing to be a douchey Boston fanboy.
I just went back and read that article again. I loved it then and now.
thanks Joey!
I went back and read that article (it was just before I started regularly visiting C:tB) like a prequel. Aside from picturing Simmons like a blubbering child who just had his lolly pop taken away, the thing I liked most was the foreboding comments about Embiid’s health and effectiveness, knowing what we do now.
Great work Tom! Simmons is a jerk! As someone whose lived in Boston, he’s a Mass-Hole, and would probably admit it too. I’m not an avid listener, but Simmons has provided some great moments and done some solid interviews as well. He’s become a voice, a conceit, and a delusional ego. The coverage from the 2013 draft was much watch. The meme of Simmons reaction from the Bennett pick might have been worth the Cavs drafting that stiff, okay maybe not (especially after watching that depressing Bennett clip you posted). Tom, you also reminded me of why I hate Mike… Read more »
I have enjoyed the job that Dave McMenamin of ESPN has done covering the Cavs.
He’s done a good job.
He’s probably my favorite Cavs cover guy as well. I liked him also when he used to cover the Lakers for ESPN LA…
I loved reading that article the first time around, and just as much reading it now!
Was listening to the Simmons Podcast, and the guy on his Pod seems to think Melo will get traded to Miami. This sounds like pure speculation, but it would certainly make the Heat a little more interesting, but I think the Cavs are still better.
Simmons thinks the Bulls trade for Melo, but I could see the Heat and Riley being more agreesive. Either way, I see the Cavs beating both the Heat and Bulls if either adds Melo.
@HoopsRumors: #Cavs cut Jack Cooley, Dionte Christmas, Austin Daye, D.J. Stephens. Roster at 16. Read: https://t.co/VMxSu4Hwmi https://t.co/vgpuvqEGLL
Interesting that Quinn Cook and MDN are the two remaining. Are they having trouble going in with only Delly and Mo as points? Would seem to me that MDN’s defensive ability at the 2 and 3 gives us more than an extra point guard, especially since LBJ, Love, AV, and J.R. have enough experience to initiate offense without a traditional PG.
Cancelling Christmas twice in one off-season… must be some kind of record…
I think technically we traded Christmas once and canceled it.
LeBron may not be ready to start the season according to Griff.
According to Griff, he’s expected to play but it will not be the end of the world if he doesn’t.
Man, I know we’re trying to talk ourselves down from the ledge by saying this isn’t a big deal, but it is. Back issues last year and an offseason and easy preseason, plus treatment, haven’t gotten him back to 100%, which means its going to linger all season. That’s how bad backs are. And it isn’t getting better with age. I’m not saying its going to be the end of him as a great player, but this is something that is going to get worse every game and every year until he retires.
Just makes me hate that Miami got his true prime those four years even more.
If Danny Ferry didn’t screw up the team….
Irrelevant to my sports hate of Miami and old resentments of LBJ. I use sports to free my emotions to irrational displays of hatred. I have to be nice in real life.
It’s so convenient that the Cavs finished their preseason schedule five days ago and have had a full week for recovery and practice. The Bulls, Hawks, Pelicans, and Pistons all have their first game on Tuesday as well and their last preseason game is not until today.
In a way, Cavs preseason schedule worked towards the favor of their health situation.
Just an FYI Tom, Mo only had a 52 point game last year, not 56. And Kyrie had a 57 point game.
Mo tried to remind you with his jersey number!
Pretty egregious error since I watched both of Kyrie’s 50 point explosions last season
No worries man!
Ga. Why don’t you post before you go on so I can call in!
I’m usually on Thursdays from 5-6. Just check out the live stream then and you can call in.
