Live Thread: Cavs @ Heat

So the big news going into tonight’s game: no LeBron James. After not arriving in Miami till 5 AM, and after logging 44 minutes in an overtime game against the Pelicans, David Blatt has decided to hold LeBron out of tonight’s contest against Miami, according to Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon. Here’s David Blatt on the subject.
(James’ desire to play against Miami) was something that was on my mind because I know that this is a special place for ‘Bron and the people here want to see him, I totally understand that… We played them four times last year. They’ve seen ‘Bron play with his new team.
So without LeBron the focus of the Cavs’ offense will be Kevin Love, and Richard Jefferson will have to score and defend against Gerald Green and Justice Winslow. It’s going to be a tall order against a Miami team that’s 11-6 and has won seven of the last 10.

I turned that game off 4 minutes into the game and never turned it back on. I knew it was going to be a loss and what is vert sad is that we look terrible with Lebron off the floor. Yes I know with Lebron out that means we had 3 starters out last night to a legit eastern conference team. It just sucks to see our team going thru the motions so early.
Kyrie can’t come back soon enough. Kevin Love laid a goose egg…although so did most of the team. How did we become so turnover prone?!
How does KLove come out of there with only 5 points?
That is a big question. Can anyone provide a breakdown on how many (Great, Good, OK, Bad, Terrible) games KL has had; last year and this year? Sometimes he has a couple of great games, and I forget about the “Curse of Andrew Wiggins” for a while. Then he has a bunch of stinkers. I spent way too much time watching the Cavs tonight. Time for second half to be MSU and Iowa. Least this game actually means something to the Buckeyes.
Somewhat. Still need Clemson to lose.
Even if Clemson loses, I don’t think they let MSU in over us with two losses on their resume. I don’t know though. I’ll be surprised if we make it in, but I’m still hoping for hope’s sake.

Tons of scenarios. I think the Clemson, Stanford, Iowa(legitimize MSU loss) losses would be best. Yeah this is like cheering for a nag to win the Preakness

Really? I think it’s a checkout game. Everyone knew Lebron was resting. Mo and JFJ are limited but useful. Yeah Joe can go anytime, he’ll never be what they need.
I’m with you on JFJ and Smokin’ Joe. But don’t give up on Mo yet. He was never really supposed to play this many minutes for us. He was supposed to come in with the second unit and give us no more than 20 a night switching with Delly when we need more defense. I still think he can be successful in that role.
Keep playing bosh and wade. Wade will be waddling come April. Not concerned just don’t like losing.

go back to the box score on the last 3 games and explain top 5….I know plenty. He doesn’t look engaged. a top 5 PF can shake off a bad game or a shooting slump. He is not performing like a top 5 PF right now, hence the term useless.

Obviously top 5 players cant ever disengage. Its not as if LeBron wasn’t disengaged until January last season. Maybe he was useless. Probably should have traded him then…
LBJ has a pedigree…he is a proven winner, klove doesn’t have that luxury yet. And yes is we are true to the term useless LBJ was useless until JAN last year.
not when you are shooting under 30% and can’t play D no that doesn’t do it for me. I can live with the lack of D when shots are going in. But my larger concern is how he has looked on the floor. Stats are one thing, but these last three games he looks like he is somewhere else
I like Kevin Love, too, but I’d like (love) to see him take over a game like Lebron or Kyrie.

Kevin Love is really just showing me nothing this game. No leadership. No fire. No competitiveness. It’s very very disappointing.

I hope that somehow and at some point TT can make his huge contract worth something. I wonder how good would’ve been having an extra 6 to 7 mil to maybe add a good swingman or a proven rim protector. #myhonestopinion
Why does this keep coming up? We wouldn’t be able to use that money if we didn’t spend it on TT. We’re over the cap either way.
To be honest my point is that the Cavs committed a huge mistake by giving TT that contract.
What’s the opportunity cost? What are we missing out on right now from TT having that contract? If he walked, we wouldn’t be able to out-and-out sign another player. We would still be over the salary camp. It’s the difference between TT and no TT. By the way, the upside of the negotiations was that he got $2 million more than what we initially offered him.
