Live Thread: Cavs @ Magic
2015-12-11The Cavs are in Orlando tonight to take on the Magic. Last time these two teams faced off, the Cavs won. However, neither team really played defense. The Cavs shot 53% from the floor dropping 18 threes, while the Magic hit 49% of their shots. Kevin Love led the Cavs with 34 points.
The Magic have experimented with their starting lineup since the Cavs last saw them, sending Victor Oladipo to the bench for Channing Frye. Orlando has won five and lost just two since that move. Their starting lineup has a lot more room to work with since teams have to cover Channing out to the 3-line.
The Cavs are coming off a win against Portland and may have Iman Shumpert back in the rotation. If Iman plays, he will likely be tasked with covering the Magics’ Evan Fournier. Fournier scored 13 points in his last game against Cleveland and hit all three of his 3-pointers. The Shumpman (clink the link to reveal Shumpman) is ready to to swat Evan every chance he gets. Evan best hope the lights don’t go out in the arena, because that’s when the Shumping usually starts going down.
If the Cavs can stay focused, they should be able to over power the Magic’s defense and get an easy win. It would be nice to see Kevin Love and LeBron rest during the fourth quarter.
J.R. Smith will not play this evening. Kyrie Irving is still out, but traveled with the team and should be making his debut very soon.
Also, Windy thinks that the Cavs are showcasing Joe Harris, so they can facilitate a trade. They want to keep Cunningham, but leave that 15th roster spot available. Probably won’t get anything for Harris, more of a salary dump. I’m cool with this, as I imagine most of the C:tb community is too?!?!?!?!
I still think there’s hope for Harris. But I’m not going to be upset or anything. I’ve said before there is a long history of great shooters with sub par athleticism taking 3+ years after several years of college to become good players. Kerr, Green, Reddick, James Jones, where a few. I came up with about 10 in october
Isn’t Joe’s salary guaranteed ?
Just listened to “Hey Windy” here’s a comparison he discussed:
Point Guard A:
– 36% from floor
– 23% from 3-point range
– 71% from FT
– Assist to Turnover Ratio 6-to-3
Point Guard B:
– 44% from floor
– 44% from 3-point range
– 90%from FT
– Assist to Turnover Ratio 5-to-2
Whose who?
B is Delly, is A Mo?
A: Derrick Rose
B: Delly
Which is probably a huge reason why the Bulls aren’t very good. They’re probably better when they have lineups without Rose. If I’m CHI I would see if the Lakers would give them their 1st round pick for Rose.
Wolves now playing their league leading fourth OT game of the season…
OT in Denver…
Wiggins starting to get some star calls…
Wolves/Nuggets and Suns/Blazers are more interesting games…
There is controversy brewing on making a Kobe an automatic All Star when you compare him to a player like Duncan. I wish Silver wouldn’t have opened his mouth on this. This is all we are going to hear now for the next 3 months
Yeah and they will probably add him to the Olympic team, while stuffing Kyrie and/or Love.
I understand that Kobe is an automatic HOF and will probably be remembered as one of the greatest offensive players of the post MJ era, but to just handout a “gimme”, because of what he was, is a slap in the face to the one player who won’t get in because of it. I say if the NBA wanted to do something cool and memorable, I would allow both All-Star to be filled per votes and have Kobe play for BOTH teams, so first half for the West and second for the East. I think this would be an incredible… Read more »
They should definitely put him in the three point shooting contest, just to see if he can miss them all…
I really can’t stand Jeff Van Gundy.
Nobody can… not even his brother Ron Jeremy…
Nice………………..
I concur. Very nice indeed!
Holy Cow! Kobe just made an interior pass! That’s like seeing a unicorn…
Man.. Duncan is still almost automatic on that hook shot…
I think the Bucks end the streak tomorrow night.
He also just missed his 14,000th shot…
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW GOOD YOU HAVE TO BE TO MISS 14000 SHOTS IN THE NBA??? /kobe fan
Well played…
Alternately, Kobe fan would say “See… just another record for the Mamba!”
Kobe just got T’d up, then he laughed at the ref.
Honestly… I kinda hope the Warriors are still undefeated on Christmas Day… no better Christmas present I could think of than Cavs ending their streak at their place…
I’ll take it, but I’ll take a Cavs X-Mas win in a my scenario. It’s been too long.
Meant to write ‘in any scenario’
Did Kevin Pelton write a piece stating the C’s were the best in the East? I didn’t read it, but remember seeing something stating this.
I didn’t read it, but yeah, I think his argument was that the Celtics have been the best East team so far, based on point differential. I don’t think he was seriously arguing that they are better than a healthy Cavs.
Thanks for clarifying this.
Yeah. It was Insider so I couldn’t read it. I assume it was complete click bait. They wouldn’t even make the playoffs at this point! I realize they’re better than expected, but what a ridiculous claim.
Cavs could be 21-0, but they like to give their fans more of a story arc.
This made me chuckle. Thanks Arch.
Actually 22-0, but I get your point… ;)
Sorry it’s hard to keep up with this imaginary win streak.
LOL
Lakers leading the Spurs at the half…
Strike that… down to Spurs by two…
I hope we blow out the C’s on Tuesday.
Ahhhh Groundhog Day Movie again with Warriors!!
Celtics should have went at Draymond, whose had 5 fouls since the 4th Q.
At least the Celtics made GS work for it… Go Bucks tomorrow!
Bucks should benefit greatly from the Celtics hard work. They’ll get credit if they win, but it was a two team effort if it happens.
Kind of sad that it takes two teams to accomplish the victory…
But I’m truly glad GS struggled, now they understand how lucky they were during the finals to be 100% healthy.
Amazing effort from Celtics! Taking them to 2 OTs They just made to many down the stretch mistakes and didn’t have much offensive options.
I actually think the bucks are particularly suited to beat the warriors. All that length on the perimeter.
Although they don’t have particularly good PG play to keep Curry busy…
I’d put Antetokounmpo on him tbh.
I don’t think they can score enough. They have a chance, though, especially if Klay is out.
I really don’t care who wins this.
Olynyk for three to send it to a third OT?
I think this is game for GS.
That just might do it…
freakin offensive rebounds
Cannot stand GREEN.
He can’t even mean mug with his donkey face…
I really believe Green is so Key in their team. You have to disrupt him simultaneously as you would Curry
No question… I just hate him is all…
To infinity power hatred. LoL
That was an amazing save by Crowder…
Boston announcers continues to complain about officiating.
They are right sometimes
Wonder why they took out their best three point shooter in Olynyk…
If Celtics somehow win; they will be stoked next Tuesday against Cavs
I think they will be either way… Cavs are still the team that swept them out of the playoffs…
Celtics’ offense in the overtimes looks like Butler’s in its two title games under Stevens.
I still wish this was any team but Boston…
