Live Thread: Cavs vs. Sixers (#I’mBack)
2015-12-20I'm back.

This two word Tweet is about all you need to know concerning today’s matinee game for the Cavaliers. After all, it’s about the only thing that could break through the clutter, given the circumstances… An afternoon game… on a Sunday… in December… against the worst team in the league (1-26)… directly opposite a Browns game… that features Johnny Football taking on the Seahawks… during the last week of the Christmas shopping rush… on the weekend that Star Wars comes out and does more business than any other movie in history. Yep, that’s a lot of possible distractions to pull focus from arguably the most important thing to happen to the Cavs this year (other than winning a championship). Still, there is reason to get pumped up about it… just listen to the man himself…
“I’m pretty F’ing excited,” Irving said Saturday. “There were a few things I had to clear, but there was no rush on it. … I’ve been ready to play, but biomechanically we just wanted to make sure everything was good so I wouldn’t put myself at risk.”
According to reports, David Blatt says the team will monitor Kyrie’s minutes, but that he is expected to start against Philadelphia. The Cavs could certainly use another healthy body in the back court as Mo Williams is still out with a sprained wrist, and Iman Shumpert is questionable with a groin strain. Although, given how the wine & gold handled the Oklahoma City Thunder with a limited guard rotation, the lowly Sixers shouldn’t present to difficult a challenge, and Kyrie’s presence should be protection against this contest being a trap game. As a result, Cavs should wrap this up in time to allow LeBron and the starters to catch either the end of the Browns game… or an early evening showing of The Force Awakens. Prediction: Cavs 110-85.
This game was on at an antisocial hour here in Oz, so missed the live broadcast & following with everyone here. What a treat it is to log in to LeaguePass and watch the game back, skipping through all the FTs and TOs, and read along the blog comments as it unfolds. It’s an art to not read too far ahead and hit a spoiler comment.
Superbly enjoyable game & comments by all.
A little sad that we can’t be in Cleveland to catch a game this year, but this blog helps ease the pain.
Gotta love it when Delly sits in garbage time. Kid is playing great. .443 from 3! Coast to coast drives off a steal!
Looking forward to the game with the Knicks.
What an awesome Cavs win. KI and Shump are back…all played except Mo…team looks VERY deep!
Rick Fox says this was “the June version of Matthew Dellavedova.”
Great win. Welcome back Kyrie.
This is funny. Delly interview in locker room. You see James Jones locker in the background with 3 bottles of moisturizer on the shelf. . 3 guys keep go over there taking it . He is going to wonder where did they go. Tristan was one of them.
JR +29, LeBron +33, TT the leader on the day at +36.
Mozgov was a mountain on defense, and LeBron was aggressive as ever. This is the anger that I was talking about last year. Seems to be coming back. Rage on, Cavs!!
SORRY ABOUT NOT FOLLOWING TODAY AND ALSO EARLIER APOLOGIES ABOUT THE NEGATIVITY DIRECTED AT THE CAVS FOR THEIR SO-SO START —-DIDN’T GET THE CHANCE TO VIEW ANY OF THE GAMES BUT ARE REVIEWING YOUR BLOGS AND HIGHLIGHTS —-AGREE— KY TO MDN IS ON THE HIGHLIGHT REEL / LOOK LIKE HE ACTUALLY JUST SUSPENDED HIMSELF AT THE TOP OF HIS LEAP —AND YES IF UNCLE DAN NEEDS ” HELP ” TO ANTE UP FOR A BIG PAY RAISE FOR ” THE DELLY WOMBAT ” COUNT ME IN —MAN WHAT A FIND !!!
They just named that the Dunk of the Game
In the running for dunk of the season IMHO…
Also, no worries NOMAD!
Watching the Cavs interviews. They are talking Mosgov. He does look healthier, moving better, running faster and playing with more confidence.
It has been a loooong time since everyone looked healthy.
Delly had 4 turnovers in what seemed like the first minute he was in the game, and none the rest of the way.
Yeah, he course corrected in the best way possible…
Last 2 -3games Lebron looks really happy. Delly was stunning tonight. If I’m Blatt, I don’t know how I am convinced to NOT have Delly as the backup PG when he has been playing like this. He keeps getting better.
Kyrie looked great once he got going…
Yeah, I have to take back my earlier comment about him looking gimpy. He isn’t quite his old fluid self, but he was incredibly effective in the second half on what was basically a rehab assignment.
You were right though… he did look a bit tentative in the first half, but then much more comfortable in the second…
When last did we really have a good solid 10-12 minutes of garbage time ? Seems like forever, I enjoyed this game, lets win on Wednesday VS the Knicks
Dominating win for the Cavs!
I feel bad for Noel. Such a goos player. If he was playing on an NBA team, he would be a beast.
I was pretty close on the prediction… within two points on each team…
Jahlil is hating every single minute of this. Just dreading it. He’s praying Hinkie trades him for picks.
KAUNNNNNNNN!!!
Sasha Kaun… in the books!
On the Sixers’ telecast, ” Sasha Kaun, not to be confused with Sacha Baron Cohen”. hmmmm nickname possibilities here..
Borat with the offensive Board!
Borat with the Scoop!
The Baron? The Red Baron?
Top three play of the year for me…
That thing was vicious. Holy cow.
A one-handed scoop lob off the dribble. And the big finish! Wow!
I screamed out OHHHH , thinking that it was delly who had catch that lob pass lol, then i realized it was Ninja, what a strong throwdown
Just checked out the stats, and we have 31 fastbreak points, WOW . Basically 1/3 of our points so far 31/98 and 40 points in da paint. 10 3 pointers, 11 steals its been a good game so far. My only fault is that we arent rebounding, how can 76ers have bout 50 misses and we only have 32 total rebounds.
Wow, KI to MDN. That was fun!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! KYRIE TO THE NINJA!!!!
Lebron will not come back into the this game. I apologize for my earlier comments about the Cavs being bad when Lebron is on the bench.
No apology needed… they sometimes are… but I don’t expect they will again… ;)
Love you Ky!!
That three was stupendous…
Kyrie with terrific steal and pass to RJ for corner three!
Nothing better than an entire quarter of garbage time… ;)
Even though I missed all of the Kyrie minutes, I still enjoyed the Delly-splosion
Kyrie out there now…
Yes, very pleased to see him again. Its just about our full team today, it feels weird.
JAMES FREAKING JONES!!
Poor Mo might find it harder and harder to get game minutes
Shump gets one to go…
This one deserves a bigger Vine…
Holy Wombat!!!!!!!
Delly continues to blow me away
Just when you think he’s shown us everything… What a treat.
Delly = Max contract. Pay up Dan.
I want Delly to have a 30 point game. Kid is getting PAYED.
Don’t think he’ll see the floor again today… did his job and then some…
Gosh, I sure do love Delly. What more could you want from this guy?! I just LOVE IT! Givin’ it up to my Aussie Brother woo!
Delly playing like he’s mad he lost his starting job… ;)
The last two minutes have been an absolute CLINIC on both ends by Delly… Put it on a loop for Cols… ;)
11-3 run in the last 3 minutes by da Cavs, great defense in those minutes
OMG, I am shocked Delly made that fastbreak, WOWWWW
Delly with 10 points in the quarter!!
DELL-INSANITY!!!!!!!!!
DELLY TIME!!!!!
DELLY TREY!!
Hollis Thompson is the only guy who can hit consistently from the outside for Sixers…
Delly is the Steph Curry of lobs…
LBJ goes out, and may not need to return…
Cavs got 17 AST on 26 Field Goals, 8 Stls, 5 BLKS
Kyrie with the steal and break away!
Timo always gets called for those, even though he goes straight up…
I really love the JR touch shot…
KLOVE Deep in the Q!
Cavs backcourt is so deep. They have a bunch of small ball lineups they can experiment with.
Kyrieee, ohh how I’ve missed you !!!
KYRIE FOR THREEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Vintage Kyrie!
Like to see some KLove in the post this quarter…
Also it’s really awesome to see this teams depth in full swing. So many playable guys on the bench. Ninja and Mo (obviously with being out) having not played yet and it still seems like we’ve played a swarm of guys.
Yea, Kyrie comes back and it feels like waves of depth keep coming off the bench.
