Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers (#CalmBeforeTheStorm)

The Cavs have one more relatively easy stop in the City of Brotherly Love this evening before embarking on their Texas “three-step” for the rest of the week. And, at the end of that trip, a MLK Day rematch with the Warriors at the Q awaits. This should be the last deep breath for a little while for the wine & gold, and hopefully it will feature another opportunity to rest their starters for the final period, as they should make fairly quick work of the Hinksters. However, Philly has been playing a bit better of late… what with the additions of Jerry Colangelo, Mike D’Antoni and Ish Smith. Okay, seriously though… the Cavs have already won the first three this season against the Sixers, and they should have no problems getting the sweep today. If for some reason they do have trouble though, it will likely be a result of looking ahead to the challenging coming week.
Cavs should win it going away, and maybe even get to the 120 mark for the fourth straight game. Prediction: Cavs 125-105. Talk it up Cavs fans!

Super fantastic game by the King, and nice all-around defensive effort. Shots not falling and bench unit hasn’t gelled yet. No worries — 76ers are looking a bit better each time.

What is it exactly with bench? Blatt played 9 players. Mosgov only had 8 mins. Jefferson 12 mins, Shump 16 mins & Delly at 24 mins. Was it enough mins? Wrong combinations? Did the poor shooting from the starters (exception Lebron) rub off on them?
This was the same line-up that I believe had 47 pts the game before. Doesn’t make sense to be this drastic.
Delly played okay, Shump didn’t do much. If Delly and Shump have big games, the bench scoring looks impressive, but if they are both mostly meh, it looks terrible.
None of them are natural shooters… that’s why Mo is needed for the bench.

I think a large part of the reason why he hasn’t seen minutes is that hand injury… he’s shot terribly for the past month(?). Before that, he was one of the best shooters on the team.
I am not sure I believe the reports about his attitude… because if I were him, I’d love to play with Delly, Shump, and JC because they take all of the defensive burden off of Mo so he can focus on the offensive end. It’s very disappointing if those reports are true.
I honestly think it was only a human moment that he was briefly disappointed. Media made more out of it, I believe in the offensive value Mo has. I truly hope he isn’t forgotten by Blatt.
I think Timo may have over-achieved last year and he’s currently underachieving a bit.

If they can beat the Spurs, I don’t care about the rest. I really believe they can but not if they play like they did tonight. Yikes!!

No there is a gang of 5 that constantly rip on him on the regular blog. I would imagine it would be the same on twitter. Most of those critics value points only. This is why I love CtB. They really appreciate and understand all aspects of the game on offense and defense. It is articulated very well by all the writers in unique and entertaining ways. I’m ready for CtB T-shirt!!

Lot of missed jumpers, and lots of shots just rolling in and out. JR clanged a lot of jumpers. Irving didn’t have a great scoring night.
