Live Thread: Nets @ Cavs
2016-03-31The Cavs fell to the Nets less than a week ago in a game where LeBron James played MVP caliber ball. They have a chance to exact revenge tonight.
Last game against the Nets, the Cavs gave up 60 points in the paint, couldn’t stop penetration at all, and couldn’t hit a three-pointer. I’ll be looking for the Cavs to fix all those problems and more.
The Wine & Gold have had an issue playing 48 minutes of consistent basketball. Their defense and offense come and go by the quarter. Defensively, the Cavs must stick to the simple principals Tyronn Lue has laid down for them. Drop back on pick and rolls, contain penetration, and force the mid-range jumper.
Offensively, the Cavs need to play faster. They should be pushing the ball looking for every transition opportunity possible. And, if the game gets close in the final minutes, “they have got to pass the ball,” as Austin Carr would say. They revert to isolation basketball too much when games get tight.
I want to say I think the Cavs are going to blow the Nets out, but I’m hard pressed to right now. They routinely show they play down to the competition, and the King hasn’t been too happy about it. Tonight could be a LeBron, “I’m letting you guys figure it out on your own” performance.
If the Cavs win, they will tie their 53 wins of last season.
The Nets will be without Brook Lopez. Lopez is their leading scorer.
For what it’s worth there are other teams reporting friction with team mates that are not named the Cavs. Shocking!! I know. Fox Sports Live had a segment on Durant and Westbrook & stuff with Rose and Butler. It’s a very long season. I’m sure it’s normal and not a big deal.
When are we going to talk about what teams we would prefer to play in the 1st round? Bulls knocking on the 8th seed door. I don’t want them Btw What the hell is all the talk on trading Butler reported by Kirk Helin? That’s crazy. Pistons are now 7th seed. I don’t want them either. LoL
I would rather see Chicago then Detroit or even Indiana. Chicago sucks. I want the Cavs to rip that core apart for good.
Duly noted. Isiah Thomas of NBATV thought Pacers would be better matchup. He isn’t confident Chicago will get 8th seed. It was interesting topic
Not exactly sure what the numbers say but I feel like Lebron has been the best player in the league after the all-star break.
Love played great tonight. All of the “trade Love” and “Love doesn’t fit in” talk could be cured so easily if he could just play confidently. I think that’s the end of the story. When he’s playing and not thinking, he’s fantastic. There is no “system flaw” or “inability to maximize Love” thing going on. He’s simply not confident. Pressure? Inability to adjust yet? I don’t know.
He hit shots, and that baseline turnaround J he’s been using has been killer. Just play with confidence, Kevin, and we’ll hit our full potential. JUST DO IT!
Good bounce back. Lebron with 31 minutes. The closest guy is at 25. But Lebron came well rested. I’d say they’re pretty much not beat up at all for tomorrow’s game. Should be a another good one.
Tonight, Everything is Awesome.
Ok fine I agree lol!
Its kind of amazing that LBJ will likely end next game as the 11th all time leading scorer, will have likely appeared in 6 straight finals by the end of the season, and still might play another 5-8? years. Kobe, Dirk, and Timmy all have like, 8 or 9 years on him.
5-7 years on him but point taken
In 5 years he might surpass Kobe as the 3rd all time leading scorer too. Youngest to reach that point. Also might be in top 10 in assists by then.. Fantastic accomplishment.
P.S. Plus 2 more championships please.
I know this is probably heresy, but TT should be given a game or two off. Screw his streak – that’s personal numbers. He’s starting to wear down.
I agree. He did a great thing and its a tough record to match. Give him a break
He’s stubborn as hell on that. Lue is just going to have to do what he said. 2 mins and yank him.
Lebron’s line is exactly what he needs to be doing – 24 points on 11 shots, none of them threes. 11 assists.
Well, I wish we could take something away from this drubbing other than, “at least we did what we’re supposed to for one night.” I mean, if you beat up a girl scout, it doesn’t mean you’re any good. But its better than getting beat up by a girl scout.
You summed it up well
Too bad Cols is not hear so he can whoop it up over beating a team that literally had one player on the floor who could crack the Cavs regular rotation.
what happened to Delly’s floater
floater and the 3 pointer.
This is entirely different game with Lopez.
Different tempo maybe, different lineups, but the score would be the same. We came out pissed.
Score wouldn’t be the same. He’s one hell of a force to reckon with in the paint.
Holy shiitake mushrooms man…Lebron got whacked directly in the face with no call. It is astonishing how little respect he gets from referees
Nobody on the live thread tonight! Guess the nets revenge game doesn’t mean soo much but glad they are actually exacting said revenge
Kyrie finished on his LEFT!!
Mozzy with a (Did he make it, Did he make it) basket
Alright Love!!!
Mozzy playing really well
Much better effort tonight!
Cosign this……
Alright Mozzy!!
This should be easy win. Good for the back to back. After this the last 7 games is a great test. All except Milwaukee are possible playoff match up for us. I hope we could finish this blazing and come a lot sharper for the playoffs.
Yeah, good they won but the Nets put out basically a D-League team out there. Tomorrow against Hawks will tell us a lot more
If we rest the guys early tomorrow’s game will be fine.
Either way it will tell us more than this exhibition game.
K-Love plays so well with Lebron. No one plays well with Kyrie. No one. They may play well in spite of him, but never with him.
Allie’s blouse looks like it’s festooned with dead insects.
Not sure how to respond to that… LoL
What does festooned mean?
Great job. Defender looked away and bron was gone.
Cavs having another game to try and make their fans forget they throw up stinkers every three games.
Whoop. Just checked back in. This is a whooping.
Kyrie is so frustrating. I feel like he’s just walking around hanging his head. Preventing ball movement and sucking the energy out of the team.
We need him for the Finals run, but there are too many games where it’s obvious the ball moves better when he is resting. Like tonight.
Fortunately, they don’t need him tonight.
Kyrie should have called in sick. His play is so far below last year.
He’s actually having some illness tonight. Missed the shoot around. Same with JR
Set the auto refresh to 3 MInutes
Ok. Switched it up and put new stuff up top. Also made commenta nested only two deep.
So new comments at top or at bottom?
Which would you all prefer? Seems better up top on live threads.
Top please!
Personally, prefer newest comments at top so don’t have to keep refreshing and scrolling to bottom of page.
But I think replies to comments should be oldest to newest from top to bottom i.e. chronological order.
I like new comments at the bottom, but I may be in the minority, because I often come late to the party and like to read it like a book.
Delly dropping dimes…
Speaking of, he looked like the guy from that State Farm commercial
Cavs jump shot happy already… irritating…
I’m sorry but Kyrie just sucks. He sucks.
How so? Or you just forgot the /s??
Oh man. Colsbot3000 must be undergoing maintenance.
I feel like newest comment posts should be at the top of the thread. Hence, newest to oldest in the thread from top to bottom. For replies to comments, oldest should be at top and chronologically listed beneath. Not sure if that made sense, but i think you’ve done the opposite for right now.
Also I liked the automatic comment update stream. Overall, new site is great!
Good evening CtB! Here are your numbers for tonight:
CLE is a 15 point favorite over BKN with an o/u @ 210. Smart money is on a CLE cover and the OVER.
I’ll take CLE over BKN 114-97. Rest assured, Vegas is looking for a big CLE win tonight… so gamble away on your Cavs CtB!!!
That line is insane. Is that cause Kyrie and JR might be out, so there might be some D?
If I were a gambling man, I’d bet the farm on the under. Thankfully, I’m not.
Looking to see a blowout tonight. This game shouldn’t be close.
Hope the Cavs are pissed and play a great game on both ends. If Irving and JR don’t play, should still easily handle them…
