Live Thread: Cavs vs Pistons
2016-04-13Well, here we are, ladies and gentlmen: game No. 82. Both teams are resting a lot of starters and have nothing to play for tonight. Kyrie was rumored to play tonight, but it looks like he’s sitting out. Tristan Thompson will of course start, extending his games played streak to 370. So out for the Cavs: James, JR, Irving, Love, Shumpert, and Mo Williams. Sitting for the Pistons: Reggie Jackson, Drummond, Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Expect the Cavs to limit the run of their rotation guys: Delly, Channing Frye, Mozgov?, and Tristan Thompson. The Cavs signed Dahntay Jones off the street, and he, Sasha Kaun, and Jordan McRae will likely battle for the final playoff roster spot tonight (though the odds of Dahntay Jones being on the roster after this game are… low). Regardless, it’s fan appreciation night, and I’ll be watching my favorite Cavs: TT and Delly. Stay healthy everyone. Playoffs start this weekend.
Correction: I was completely wrong on the rules of playoff rosters, and was corrected by Phil Hubbard below. Playoff rosters are 15 players, with 13 available (dressed) per game. I crossed out the offending sentences above and will now flagellate myself.
Kobe..the most selfish NBA in the history.
Jd
Best last game ever. Go Kobe rogkc
Kobe rules. What a great career. And has anyone had a better last game?
Dude is awesome. I’ll ride with Kobe a yeah.
Respect to Kobe.
60 mothaf&@king points! #mambaday
50 mothaf&@cking shots. #mambaday indeed!
Haha lol respect tho
Honestly…this was the Kobe-est game ever played.
Completely.
Kobe will sleep for two days
Wow. This is entertaining..
Kobe could have 60 if they foul him again
He’s already got it.
Kobe bean Bryant has taken 50 shots in a game. Is this the first time in his career? He also has 58 points…so not too bad. His team got them back in it with defense and rebounding, and allowed him to play hero.
He’s getting sixty. No way he misses this.
Kobe is giving them their money’s worth tonight. My goodness. He’s probably near death. He’s played like 45 minutes and taken 50 shots.
This is crazy. Way more interesting than the Warriors
Kobe has 50 freaking points. What the hell?!
Oh. On 47 shots
Now 56 on 49 shots. This is insane
I’m a bona fide Kobe hater, but this is kind of cool. This is a way to go out. Holy hell.
Holy cow Kobe has 40 right now
A little late posting this, but…

Crap, it isn’t even a video… I think the usual vine sources were all resting for the playoffs tonight too.
Haha curry got tripped up by two of his teammates and the crowd was furious at the refs
Kobe going out like he played…shooting his team out of contention and probably playing hero or near hero once his teammates go on a run to come back later
I couldn’t play for the Grizz in this game. I’d have already used all six fouls. Though sometimes, I’d e fouling twice.
Ok Kyrie will have to be like five times as good as he was LAST year, not this year, for Cavs to have a chance in June.
Haha if the Warriors scrape by the Spurs, they will be exhausted, and we are a bit more difficult to guard than the Memphis Grizzlies. I’m not worried.
I have a feeling they will tear through, and destroy everyone. Including the Spurs. Maybe, especially the Spurs.
Spurs are a different animal. And this same Memphis crew nearly beat the Warriors three days ago. And had to play last night. Playoffs will be tough for the Warriors from round 2 on
3 out of 4 games this year, the Warriors ripped the Spurs apart. The Spurs don’t have the offensive firepower to keep up with them. They don’t the youthful energy and athleticism to grind out the Warriors and keep them to 80 points a game for four games in a 7 game series.
KD and Russ having other worldly levels of play for an entire series is more likely than the Spurs finding enough offense to beat the Warriors and energy to defend them for an entire series.
Glad the prognostication is soon ending and the playoffs are soon beginning.
So glad. Will you try to go to a home game?
I’m sure and I definitely want to hit a watch. Party at the Q. Tix gonna be a tough get for games though. Kinda saving for later rounds.
never been to one of the watch parties…are tickets for those tough to get?
It has to be a complete team effort to slow the Dubs. Going toe-to toe uptempo, even with Russ (one of my favorite players) and KD, is a recipe for losing by 9 or 10 every game. Spurs will struggle with athleticism, but their system is SO much more advanced.
So…it’s weird cuz the Griz are already getting pancaked, but all I have noticed the last two Griz-warriors games is how good lance Stephenson is again
Um…can I rephrase that…how good half of lance Stephenson is again. If he had mcrae’s left hand he’d be Lebron james
I love vince carter getting pissed here. Glad he gives a crap. Only hope now is that Matt Barnes ends his own career by going fight club on Curry.
Seriously. Xavier Mumford? Is that a real name? That’s made up, right?
Lol it’s like two indy bands had a baby
Ok that is insane. He is insane. I don’t even know what to think.
Trying to ice the game early so they can rest starters. Hope the Grizzlies make it hard on them. Not resting and chasing the record I hope will contribute to their downfall….
See why don’t more people hit Curry like that when gets into the lane. He prances in there like a little fairy with his pixie dust and no one touches him. Put him on his rear. Make him eat it.
So four teams are going to finish at 48-24? That’s kinda crazy.
What a mess in the middle of the East. Anyone have the tie-breakers?
If the ESPN standings are right, 3 through 6 are Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, in that order. On what basis I don’t know.
What a stupid game by the Heat. Won the first quarter 35-13. Were up by 24 at the half.
Lost the third quarter 5-25. 5-25? how do you score 5 points in a quarter? Lost the game by 10. Freaking useless.
I’m glad. Now they are in a log-jam. Did you bet on it or something? Why would you want the Heat to win?
It means Celtics are now the 5 seed, and we could see them in the second round, which I’d prefer not to.
If Miami won, and Charlotte won (which they did) Boston would be 6 seed, and Miami would be 3 seed (which they still are). We would only have to see one of Toronto, Miami, Boston and it would not be until ECF.
I am actually less scared of Boston than Miami, Tor, and Charlotte. Boston is like the little brother you tease, and then beat down when you fee like it.
So when we wake up, will the first-round schedule be out? This is like Christmas Eve.
Wow, that was entertaining. It’s too bad McRae had those free-throw misses at the end, but nobody can hold it against him after his 93-minute back-to-back and 35 points tonight.
Thoroughly entertaining, thank you Jordan! Hope he gets some quality playoff minutes.
I have the Kobe tribute on in PiP in the background with no sound. It looks… insufferable.
So grateful the Season of Kobe Slurping is almost over…
Jordan needed to fake an injury so Delly could come in and ice it.
Hell of an effort, Jordan. Nice game.
LOLLLLLL ARE YOU KIDDING??????
LOL classic even in losing.
Damn. Make this
Miss the next.
