Podcast Episode 102: Dinosaurs vs The Comet and ThunderStruck 1st!

Nate, Eli, and I discussed Cavs/Raptors matchups while watching the Thunder steal game 1 from the Warriors! Listen (or download) via Soundcloud or iTunes.
On paper the Cavs should blow out the Raptors. But nothing is ever easy in Cleveland. All of this national love and predictions of sweeps has me freaked out. Hoping it is just my inner Cleveland shining through but I cant help but think the Raptors are going to play the Cavs much tougher than anyone anticipates.
They aren’t.
Let’s go all the way tonight, no regrets, just love.
It’s good to see you branching out in your comments, but this one is weirding me out a little bit.
Cols-y Perry…
Oh Sherry, our love: holds on, holds on.

From McMenamin on the “Chameleon Cavs”:
“Out of the 24 five-man lineups that have played at least 35 minutes together through the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Cavs had the two best lineups — in terms of efficiency — that any team put out on the court, according to research by ESPN Stats & Information.”
And the two lineups have only one player in common: LeBron.

Yep. Yet some people (TOM!!!!!!!!!!!!) think the Raptors are scary.
I’m not too worried about the Raptors. I don’t think they’re really any better than the Hawks.
I just don’t think there’s a 99% chance of the Cavs winning the series in 5 or 4.
It might actually be higher than that. But I only had access to a calculator with two sig figs..
On Believeland, I liked it but of course being a Cav fan, I wanted more coverage on Cavs and Lebron. Especially, after the ashes when Lebron left and Kyrie arrived.
And also… How do you NOT tell the story on what Lebron did last year in the playoffs with Kyrie and Love out. If those injuries in the NBA Finals is not so Cleveland,, what is???
There’s no way this series goes 6.
And GSW hasn’t looked great since January. They are still very good, but they are no longer playing at an unbeatable level. I’m liking the Cavs chances more and more against them.
And if we play the Thunder, well then we win the title 90% of the time.
OKC is the better matchup for Cavs no doubt.
Tom, Nate is right on OKC… It’s possible. They have played pretty good in 4th quarters & the BIGS are changing the Western Conference playoffs.
I’m afraid of OKC’s bigs. We’d need Mozgov to be more than the corpse he’s been for the season.
Steve Adams has been just amazing. I disagree with Mosgov collecting dust . It won’t matter much as long as Valciunas is out and if we do play the Warriors. But if those elements change……. Different story.
After how we limited Drummond its less frightening. Fortunately for us, Detroit didn’t also have KD and Westbrook. It’ll definitely be a not so fun wrinkle, but we played OKC so well all season that it still only mildly scares me. Id be more worried about what Westbrook will do to us. Shump will be important.
Nope. We have TT and Frye who are both better than mozgov
Dion shoes were salmon color not hot pink.
Great podcast. I must lean with Coles though, I can’t see this game going more than 5 games. In fact, I am pretty sure we will be getting our brooms out again and winning in 4. Even the last two games when Lowery and DeRozan were actually contributing, they looked like a shell of themselves that needed 7 games to beat a shell of Miami. Lowery played well in the last two games but there were incredible stretches where Miami forgot how to play basketball. They were slinging poo, I believe someone on C:tB made that comparison last week? Confident… Read more »
Edit: I forgot how to spell Lowry*
No one is nervous.
What? Couldn’t even get to a measly 2 hours? ;)
Sigh. Geez Nate. When Jonas went out so did Whiteside. Hence the improvement in Lowry and Derozan after that.
Biyombo dominated Justice Winslow.
Oh, you guys were doing so well… right up until the Hack-A discussion… It’s not a rule, it’s a perversion of a rule and exploitation of a loophole…
Yes. It will be changed next year.
Thanks for the way too kind shout out at the beginning guys!
How many minutes did you guys discuss Biyombo dominating (11points!!!!) Justice Winslow? Because I’d like to skip that part if possible.
Also, if anyone thinks Cavs in more than 5 games, I’d like to skip that as well.
We spent most of the first hour just telling our favorite Biyombo stories. Actually all 3 of us picked the Raptors to win the series. We usually strive for diversity of thought, but we’ve all just settled on the same crippling feeling: The Cavs have no answer for Biyambo. Nate convinced us. You weren’t there to shield us from his takes. Now, like inception, this crippling thought is going to spread throughout the Cavs-o-sphere and before you know it, David Griffin is going to trade all our superstar talent to create cap space to dole out max contracts to Delly… Read more »
LOL. For real.
This just made my top 10 all time comments list… extremely well-played Tom…
You the man, EG!
Actually, I think we know why Nate’s power went out. Cols cut the cord when he sensed we were recording a podcast
So in three games against the Cavs this year Biyambo had double digit points or rebounds do. He played well against them in all three games.
Can’t believe my power went out during the pod and with about 96 second do left in the game.
I like the LeBron on Lowry strategy for selected stretches, whenever they want to disrupt the Raptors. Historical comparison: when the Bulls recovered from a thrashing at home in the ’92 ECF by putting Jordan on Price.
“Death Lineup” was -2 in the 4th in 5.6 minutes for the dubs. 1-4 from 3. Zero offensive boards.
I laughed my ass off when the ever so biased announcers were saying , “Okay Warriors have their death lineup in now so it’ll be over” It didn’t happen Reggie…. They were clearly upset Warriors lost. I can’t stand these announcers. College announcers are so much more enjoyable because they point out the positives on both teams more balanced. ESPN just assumes everyone is 100% of what they think always.
Since no one said it, LOOOOOOOONGGGGG in the tooth
All on Tom and Elijah. Y’all some chatty mofos.
The Warriors aren’t winning anything this year. The Human Moving Screen is injured and so is Mouth Guard Nibbler. Go Cavs!
No download again…… :(
Sorry – don’t know why it’s defaulting that way. Fixed.
Great thanks
Just watched the OKC v GSW replay – great game to watch, and PUMPED to see the Warriors lose on home floor. Can’t wait to listen to the podcast!! Thanks guys.
Is it safe to listen to this? I can’t handle any negative Cavs discussion….
I agree, I’m thinking of skipping it. I’m feeling great about the Cavs right now and I don’t want to be dragged down by negativity.
