InstaPod: Finals Game 6! Cavs 115, Warriors 101 + Highlights!

Whoa Delly (or maybe Whoa Dahntay!) The Cavs won the biggest game in franchise history, tonight, led by LeBron’s otherworldly 41 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, three blocks, and only one turnover in 43 minutes. Tristan Thompson added 15 and 16 rebounds. Kyrie had 23. J.R. had 14 and a brilliant floor game. Kevin Love and Richard Jefferson rounded out a stellar rotation, and Iman Shumpert’s -13 in 14 minutes made up the not so stellar part of the rotation. Cleveland even got contributions from Dahntay Jones and Mo Williams! Ben, Mallory, and I jumped on the line for an impromptu joyous celebration of this game, and to look ahead to game seven and how the Cavs have to improve to win it all.
LeBron becomes the first player since Shaq to score 40+ in two straight games, and at one stretch in the third and fourth he scored or assisted on 27 straight points. He is the best player in the world, and Sunday the Cavs can become the best team in the world.
As always we can be found on soundcloud, itunes, or above (warning, PG-13 for language). Here’s some highlights.
Oh Yeah Nate!! Post game celebration podcast. How glorious !!!!
Fun podcast. Only one complaint. Too much burping.
Man the Cavs are just executing. All those passes to TT and 3s from JR in the 4th quarter. And then Lebron making tough shots when there was nothing else. Incredible
A couple of thoughts: Super Bowl champions rarely repeat, because they’ve already won it and there’s always a hungrier team to come along. We’ve been waiting for the Cavs to get that hungry for a long time. They are now there. I am thrilled with Kyrie’s second half performance last night. Golden State did everything to keep him from going off and was somewhat successful. Kyrie still did all he could to score – but didn’t play iso-ball to the point that it hurt the team. He gave it up when his attempt was thwarted and that saved the Cavs… Read more »
Terrific InstaPod! Special thanks to Ben Werth for staying up to watch the game and be on the Pod. Ben’s observations are always amazingly informative.
Game seven is going to be a mountain to climb with the refs and the crowd against them. If they play together they can do it.
Odd that Frye was a total DNP in game 6.
The comments about Shumpert’s play got me thinking about those trades last year and how my perception of them has changed. Now it looks like we traded St. Weirdo to get JR. That’s it.
That’s it . . . for this one series.
The others have been valuable members of the team since the trade. How much do you want for St. Wierdo anyway?
Yes, Mozzy was a big part of our team last year. And Shump has been helpful (but less than expected). Was thinking more of the offseason and next year where JR might be the only one of the three still here.
I hope JR does come back. We need to pay him more than we paid Shumpert. That could be a bargain based on next year’s salary cap.
Blocking Curry after the whistle.
Goading Green into a suspension.
Getting all the little Warriors to cry to the media about him.
Barking at Curry after a monster block.
Drawing the sixth foul on Curry to get him frustrated and ejected.
This is a new, nasty LeBron. Win at all costs. He’s on Jordan’s level right now.
Great post, Carson Zagger.
Also Curry took more free throws than LeBron.
Seriously. I galls me that things that are fouls on 3-pt shooters (hitting the arm on the follow-through, landing under the shooter) — where you are awarded 3 shots — are never called on shots in the paint.
I say, continue to run Curry into picks on every possession. You take a beating and it wears you down. Either do that or continue to get him switched onto LBJ.
Also, 25 fouls on each team. I think a couple of the calls on Curry were bad, but a couple of the calls on Shump and Love were bad. Pretty even reffing if you ask me.
Curry was flopping all over the place too.
Was that LeBron’s best ever performance in the playoffs?
Win or lose – Lebron is the MVP of the Finals.
Everything is awesome
Cavs the blog 100%

Need more Dahntay and waaay less Shump.
Also that run by LBJ where he carried the team – just like detroit
Ooops my comment is waiting for approval, did I break it?
Cols! Youngstown should be making you proud! Handel’s Ice Cream getting in on the serving!?oh=221f744ee232b284454379680dfc93df&oe=57E84BB0
WELCOME BACK EVIL—-MISSED YOU !!—–HOPING THIS SUNDAY’S GAME IS AN EVENT ( VICTORY ) THAT WILL BE FROZEN IN ALL OF OUR MEMORIES AND LIVE THERE FOREVER —–THIS COULD BE A WIN FOR THE AGES !!!——AND BY THE WAY WHAT I SAID IN MY BLOG LAST NIGHT AYESHA CURRY COULDN’T ” HOLD A CANDLE ” TO THE MRS NOMAD ——KEEP COMPLAINING AYESHA YOUR BEAUTY IS DIMINISHING RAPIDLY —GO CAVS !!–
Thanks NOMAD! Been a tough week having to be out of town and preoccupied with work. Very much looking forward to being home with family for Father’s Day and Game 7!
Excellent InstaPod guys! Was only able to catch the second half in a bar in a small town outside of Toronto, but it was an epic performance by LBJ. Lot of Raptor fans here pulling for the Cavs to win it all… some of it’s because they’d love to be able to say they lost to the eventual champion, but a lot of it is respect for LBJ, Cleveland and a general dislike for the Warriors and their act. Really classy people and fans up here in the North.
Thank You Canada!
With all the complaining Golden State is doing, I think they want to take over the moniker of the “Wine and Gold”.
Come on Cavs! One more! Gotta make it happen!
Also, this is the single best hype video I have ever seen. WOW. It will get you fired up. Nails the LeBron narrative in an amazing way. It was made BEFORE Game 6.

Sooooo good right. I saw this yesterday at like noon and shared it with three of my buddies. We were all so pumped that we had to drive up to Cleveland from c’bus and go to the game. Now I’m at work on three hours of sleep but the energy from last nights game is gonna carry me through.
By the way, Tom, you made my day with this line in your InstaCap: “Imagine if LeBron could clone himself and throw alley oops to LeBron.” AMAZING!!
Well he’s probably the best in the league at THROWING alley-oops and he’s one of the best at gathering and finishing. J.R. may as well be blindfolded when he’s throwing those up
JR Smith’s line about throwing oops to Lebron is “I don’t want to make it easy. I want to see something great.” That line will be in an ESPN 30 for 30 on the Cavs championship run that broke the Cleveland streak of suck.
He backed it up by throwing an amazingly perfect lob to TT though.
Best stat of the game: 25 fouls on Warriors, 25 fouls on Cavs. I hate the Warriors and their whining soooooo much. No respect. DISRESPECTFUL of Cavs elevating their play.
Sadly, I’m afraid Ben may prove to be right. Kerr went full bore after the game to get homer refs (like they wouldn’t be pretty homer refs to begin with…the reffing in this series has been pretty homerific for the most part), and it may just be the case that the Cavs will not be given much of a fair chance. Hard enough to win there as it is.
Still, if Iggy is seriously hobbled by his back, it’s a huge loss for them.
I am less worried about this. I am in a very small minority that doesn’t think NBA officating is biased or rigged in any way. LOTS of calls are MISSED, but if look at it objectively its pretty random — every game has calls that hurt both teams.
And if the NBA does have bias, I think the W’s over the top whining yesterday might cause the NBA to root against them. I mean, the MVP’s wife just called the whole league rigged! Silver can’t be happy about that.
Agreed. I think the refs are biased towards home teams and smaller players. I do not think coaches yelling about fouls do anything. I’m surprised that the smart people who run this site subscribe to such views.
Also, whining about Delly in this podcast? Why? That was an all-time awesome game. Talk about the good stuff.
Empty the tank. Empty the clip. Game 7 is going to be about effort, toughness and luck — for both teams. Get ready for something special.
Stop the Kev hating, dude. What are you even looking at out there? He belonged on the floor, drew some timely fouls to halt runs, played his ass off on D and the team played well with him out there until Lue put ran out a lineup with him and Shumpert, which is just the worst idea in the history of the world. You can’t single out Love. The whole team starts looking terrible basically the second you roll Shump out there because he has no IQ for the game. Even Bron looked like crap when he was out there… Read more »
Good pod, guys…it’s nice to be legitimately, no kidding, excited for the Cavs….it’s game 7, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I know everything is in play. I hope Lebron has one more game like this in him.
Agree with you guys that Shumpert has been disastrous. 14 minutes tonight, and it was awful. I just don’t see how they can play him, unless they have no choice due to injury. If he was playing good D, he’d be playable….but he’s been terrible.
Favorite Cavs game ever!!!!!!! Lebron smack talk one of my favorite Cavs’ moments ever!!!!! One of the best two game performances by Lebron, or rather any player, ever!!!!!!!
I love this team. Lebron is incredible.
I loved that look he gave Curry after blocking that shot, like “come on fool, what’re you thinking trying a layup with me standing here?”
ABC has to love it….game 7 might give them the highest finals ratings ever…
Big brother handling little brother…
