According to multiple reports (and from the above visual proof provided by ESPN’s Cavs Reporter Dave McMenamin) the Cavs have signed point guard Toney Douglas to a training camp deal. He is at practice Monday. The team also waived forward/center Eric Moreland to make room for Douglas, who played with LeBron James in Miami during the 2013-14 season.

Per ESPN Stats & Information, Douglas has career averages of 7.8 points and 2.6 assists and is a 36 percent shooter from beyond the arc in seven seasons with New York, Houston, Sacramento, Golden State, Miami and New Orleans. In his last season with the Pelicans, he averaged 8.7 points and shot 39.9 percent from three in 61 games (18 starts).

The deal includes zero guaranteed money, according to a league source.

Even J.R. Smith took time out of his contract negotiations to share his thoughts on the signing…

Moreland, who was not cleared by the Cavaliers to participate in training camp this past week, could still be re-evaluated by the Cavs prior to the season. Moreland broke his foot last December and re-aggravated the injury in April. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, doctors have told Moreland that he is approximately 6-8 weeks away from being 100 percent.

“I feel it is in my best interest for me to take my time to make sure I am 100 percent healthy,” Moreland told ESPN. “I feel really good and think I am close to being game ready but with the setback I have already been through, I want be extra cautious with my return and do everything I can to make sure I my foot has completely healed.”
