Live Thread: Trail Blazers @ Cavaliers
2016-11-23Fresh off a rare four-day rest, the Cleveland Cavaliers return to action tonight as they host the Portland Trail Blazers at Quicken Loans Arena. The Blazers are on the second night of a back-to-back, having lost to the Knicks in New York Tuesday night, but that doesn’t mean that tonight’s game is going to be a walk in the park.
Much has been made of the Trail Blazers taking a step back this season. At 8-8 after losing to the Knicks last night, the concern isn’t so much about their record, but the numbers behind that record. The Blazers have the second-worst defensive rating in the league, giving up 108.3 points per 100 possessions, just 0.1 fewer points than the Sacramento Kings. The signing of Evan Turner has been a total disaster. Signed to a four-year $70 million deal, Turner is shooting just 39% from the field and his Real Plus-Minus rating of -5.41 is the worst in the entire league by a significant margin. Fellow wing Allen Crabbe, himself the recepient of a four-year deal worth $75 million, hasn’t been much better. Crabbe currently has an RPM rating of -2.06, which ranks 71st just among shooting guards. Still, the Blazers have a pair of studs in Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. Both men are prolific offensive players who give them a chance against any team in the league.
The Cavaliers should be well-rested and ready to go. Their biggest concern may be rust with their long layoff, but given the Trail Blazers’ defensive woes, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Cavs put up some big numbers on offense. If that’s the case, this could be a fun game to watch in terms of offensive highlights.
Be sure to tune in tonight at 7:00 on Fox Sports Ohio to root the Wine & Gold on to victory, and be sure to stop by and share your thoughts here at Cavs: The Blog!
Just want to say that on a night where K-Love put up 34 in the first quarter, Andrew Wiggins went 2-19.
I’m just saying. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone, enjoying the Cavs so much in this young season.
A couple of Love’s shots in the lane that I saw had better arc and touch, too. What a fun night!
Kevin Love!!!! Man do I wish I had been able to be in CtB for this one! So fun to watch!
Super cool moment…

Really thought KLove woulda been good for at least 50 after that 34 point opening quarter explosion…
TIME TO ACTIVATE KILLER SHRIMP
I think so. Hate to say McCrae just isn’t doing his best. Didn’t seem to offer much on defense either.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssssssssseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
Nice block Birdman!
Most points scored in an NBA game this season?
Is that Wayne Newton up front row?? At a Cavs game from Vegas?
It was!
I’m cracking up!!

Nice drive by Liggins too…
Anyone just see Wayne newton behind the Portland bench!? Worth the rewind.
Right before the McRae bucket.
I just said that too. LOL What in the world? He must be a Cavs fan!!! He should SING IT!!
WOW CAN’T BELIEVE A MONTH AGO TEAMS / GM’S WERE ASKING ABOUT MAKING TRADE FOR ORANGE JULIUS —-GRIFF MISSED ON THAT ONE
He ain’t the same from what I seen last year.
Clearly the Cavs spent a lot of time working on their shooting in the off days… not so much on the D…
Nice D from Liggins there.
HAVE ALWAYS LIKE NAPIERS GAME —LEBRON IS A FAN OF HIS ALSO —-MAMBA WORKING ON HIS WAY BACK TO CANTON—-MAYBE WE SEE ” THE MIGHTY QUINN ” COME UP
McCrae looks like a below replacement player at the moment…
I had good summer league I am legit hahaha
Jordan McRap
Game still not quite over. 13.
Yay I can comment again, thanks Nate and Evil; that was going to bum me out, almost as much as McCrae’s game. Seriously whys this guy getting any burn.
Poor shooting night. Was fine other than that. Didn’t really force much until the last two minutes. At least he finally got one to go. He’s streaky. He gets a shot from that 36 last year and summer league and the work he does in practice. Felder upsets the whole defense (and ours is pretty poor when it isn’t upset). That’s why Liggins & McRae are ahead of him. Now, Jones is another matter.
Can’t remember his last good shooting night.
16 1st half triples was a league record as well.
Shbazz Napier? I might trade for him.
21 triples tonight (21-35). Team record for the regular season.
My new nickname for McRae is Orange Faygo
How about Orangina?
