2011-03-08“As Davis is slowly integrated into the rotation — coach Byron Scott said he doesn’t anticipate starting Davis on Tuesday against Golden State, and is hesitant to name when Davis will be the starter — his teammates are learning that he’s a point guard with exceptional court vision.” [Jodie Valade]
“Every day I step out there, I feel I have something to prove. That was one of the worst things I had to go through. Going undrafted was tough for me. I worked so hard and it didn’t happen for me. Coming here to the Cavs, every day I have to give all I have. They gave me the opportunity to play in the NBA.” [Samardo Samuels via Bob Finnan]
“[Semih Erden] said he felt ‘rusty’ [in his debut against the Hornets] which was to be expected because it was his first appearance in a game since Feb. 22, when he was still a member of the Boston Celtics. Erden has been plagued by shoulder and groin injuries that aren’t going away.” [Jason Lloyd]
Over at the Injury Desk: Boobie Gibson will likely return to action tonight against the Warriors.

“Eventually, quicker if Sessions regresses RT @RickWFNY @WFNYScott Do you expect Baron Davis to move into starting spot anytime soon?” [Scott Sargent]
“I’m rather disappointed in the Heat organization. Cavs were pros at keeping LeBron’s antics under wrap. #CoverUp Miami!” [Eric Knappenberger]
“Alarm set for 7:30 you wake up at 7:28.. Who else lays back down to love & cherish that last 2 minutes of sleep?” [Boobie Gibson]
I’ll go ahead and second Boobie Gibson.
I am glad we could rescue B.D. from the Clippers, that Donald Sterling is a real nut. I hope Mo doesn’t suffer the same fate that Davis had in L.A. Also, you have to love Samardo’s drive and effort. He could really be a good role player in the future (I am trying to temper my excitement!).

As mediocre of a talent Samardo is, you have to love his heart. He’s completely genuine in playing his hardest, and he looks upset (but not discouraged) when he makes a mistake. He’s bound to be a fan favorite if he sticks around, and I agree with John’s assessment that he could be an 8th or 9th man on a good team in an ideal world.
Samardo sounds like a good person. I love people who are humble when they don’t have to say that they are humble in every quote given to the media.
Hickson could be a really good player if he stops taking so many step-back jumpers. He just needs to get his head out of his ass.
Didja read Hollinger’s piece today & guys likely to breakout in a year’s time? TWO Cavs on the list, Eyenga & Hickson. Makes me feel optimistic that next year with two extra young guns the Cavs will finally be this “fun & gun” team we were promised for 2010-11. And since they’ll still be pretty bad overall, another lottery pick.
Unless there is no 2011-12 season (actually, I kind of fear Stern will cancel the season as a favor to Obama so he doesn’t miss anything while campaigning for reelection. Jesus, I sound like Bill Simmons right now…)
