Live Thread: Cavs @ Knicks, 12/7/16
2016-12-07The Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves trapped in New York for an evening. The only way out? Survive an action packed, white-knuckle 5-on-5 bout of Deathball to the… erm, well, to the death… against the New York Knicks in what will be known as the gladiatorial showcase of Game Twenty of Eighty Two. The bloodthirsty masses of Madison Square Garden grow restless. Trump SoHo looms ominously along the skyline. What heroes will rise and fall? Will LeBron James and his rough-n-tumble posse take care of business? Will overlord Phil Jackson make an appearance, and will it be awkward? How’s J.R.’s knee doing? The answers to these questions and more await their… answering… as the clock strikes 8:00 (EST) on the seventh day of December.
…or something like that. For a deeper look at tonight’s matchup, be sure to check out Robert Attenweiler’s Point-Forward as he discusses the opposition, both teams’ benches, and some other Cavs/Knicks trends, as well as the latest (good news) on J.R. Smith (who will not be suiting up as DeAndre Liggins starts in his place). Let’s see if the Cavs can…
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (with a win).
Watched a different angle of that LeBron throw down. The way he terrorizes that poor woman in the crowd is hilariously out of character for him. What a great game.
Liggins has an professional level skill, right now: his defense. Especially if he’s in with the starters, we don’t need much from him on offense.
In terms of Moreland and Cook, I love the performances & #s they are putting up. Still, it is D-league, McRae put up 60+. If someone has to go, lets just waive Mo. If we have to throw someone in, McRae is likely the guy (Dunleavy #2?).
Liggins is going to be a big factor. It seems he will take Dellys place as the Col’s scapegoat whenever he goes off his meds. I am guessing DG hopes to package McRae and Mo + picks for some kind of trade. The emergence of Liggins takes away any urgency to trade for another PG. The one thing we could use is a tough big guy. Quenton Albertie over at kingjamesgospel speculates it could be Willie Cauley-Stein. I don’t know if that makes any sense or not. Quenton publishes an essay or two a day about the Cavs. He makes… Read more »
Larry Sanders had expressed interest in returning to the NBA and mentioned the Cavs as a possible fit. Hadn’t heard anything more in awhile though. Thoughts?
Night EG.
Think I’m going to go catch up on some shows… night guys!
