Links to the Present: “#AllInOrange” Edition

The Cleveland Cavaliers seem to be getting back on track after their 114-84 win against the Miami Heat last night. After going through a three-game losing streak both Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and LeBron answered back by each scoring over 20 points in the game. That right there hasn’t happened in the NBA since the Miami Heat in 2011.

Last night was the first Hardwood Classic night out of six games at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavaliers got to take it back and rock the orange, old school jerseys that were worn by players back in the ‘80s. And let me tell ya, these jerseys were totes bitchin’. With the excitement of taking it back and turning the clock, the Cavs gave their fans a great game to watch.

Now, I’m not saying these jerseys were magical and caused them to win against the Heat by 30 points, but hey, wearing them certainly added some more of that pizzazz to a team who remains in first place. It’s great to see the damage they did even without two key three-point shooters, J.R. Smith and Channing Frye,

Now that’s pretty freaking rad.

Being an ‘80s fanatic myself – even though I’m a ‘90s baby all day – I really did appreciate how the team touched bases with a vintage look and paid respects to Cavs vets like Mark Price, Brad Daughtery, Ron Harper and more.

The next Hardwood Classics night to hit the Q will be tonight against the Charlotte Hornets at 7:30 p.m.

At this rate, it seems that he could even hit eighth place on the list, beating out the late Moses Malone by only needing to score 94 more points. Something interesting to track as James continues his climb up the all-time list: while his scoring average is near a career-low this year, James seems to be scoring the ball easier, due to the emergence of Irving and Love. Should he continue to be able to score without taking the beating he did in his early years, James could have a real shot at one of the top spots before he calls it a career.
