Live Thread: Cavs vs. Nets
2017-01-27Well, if the Cavs don’t win this one, we’re in trouble. The Nets are sitting Lopez, Jeremy Lin, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, and Trevor Booker. Of course the Cavs seem to play down to the scrubs when teams rest their best players, so maybe this is just brilliant tactics by Brooklyn. Regardless, the full compliment of Cavs (minus J.R. of course) are ready to go against the Nets. After all the drama of the last few days, this little tidbit came out. Apparently Gilbert and the Cavs lost a whopping $40 million last year Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes reported. Now we’ll see what Bron’s camp leaks in their ongoing media proxy war.
Anyway, let’s get to it, and hope that no one is preparing their resumé tomorrow.
Wow…korver is not nearly as bad as ya’ll seem to think he is on d. Give him a month to learn the rotations…he will begin to fit in. He is pn of few guys that try.
Well, we didn’t lose.
If anyone is interested on calling in on a postgame pod, hit me up on gmail (it’s on the front page on the sidebar).
Finally. Good win.
If I never see McRae on the floor for the Cavs again, it will be too soon.
Foye might be a nice trad target.
Channing with his best all-around game in weeks.
DO YOU THINK SMOKIN JOE COULD HAVE EVER DEVELOPED INTO A KORVER TYPE OF PLAYER
No.
Ok. Good time to sit big3 now.
RJ realy solid tonight: threes, D, finishes around the basket.
Korver has issues (like most guys) when he is closing out on guys. They just fake & go past him. He can’t recover. Other option is a lazy close out on a triple.
I’ll take Korver over PJ Tucker all day.
Yeah, when you lose your quciks, you gotta be on your scouting report to know which shoulder to close out on, etc.
LBJ almost at 33 minutes.
It only took four games to figure it out.
Well, our opposition stink. I’ll take the W. I approve of getting some PT for Felder & McRae. Korver heating up.
K with a nice J for three!
HAVE REALLY WATCHED KORVER ON “D” –THINK HE IS TRYING OUT THERE —JUST PHYSICALLY / ATHLETICALLY OVERMATCHED—COULD WE HAVE GOTTEN PJTUCKER FOR THE SAME (PLAYERS ) THAT WE GOT KORVER FOR ?
I think so.
Korver defends worse than the rotting corpse of Anthony Parker.
He will be probably unplayable vs the Dubs
Cripes. Scola drives and kicks to Acy in the corner. The Cavs are getting scored on by terrible offense.
Man. RJ cannot buy a call right now.
Did Allie just say what I thought she said?
I missed it. What’d she say?
She was trying to say observation. Except it came out starting with an M. And other letters. Before ending in -ation.
I’m sure she did – it’ll be on a rival network for replays shortly.
I thought I heard the M word too by mistake
That’s what I thought, too. Makes me like her more.
She’s going to lose that huge Dunkin endorsement now. It’ll be just like Tiger.
hahaha I thought the same thing but rewinded and it was observation both times
Scola just got vined. They’re gonna bring back vine just for that hesitation Kyrie pt on him.
MAN THE WIZARDS ARE SCORCHING HOT RIGHT NOW—WHEN DO WE PLAY THEM NEXT—CAN BET THEY WILL CIRCLE THAT GAME AS A ” BAROMETER ” GAME FOR THEM ……AND MAYBE FOR US ALSO
Trick ’em Kyrie!
Who wants to recap this game for me?
Maybe LeBron would have some thoughts as a guest author.
It would feature plenty o’ f bombs….
PJ Tucker would’ve been a 10x better addition.
Lately I cringe when Korver enters the lineup
JUST GOING TO SAY THE ONLY WAY TO COME AWAY FEELING BAD ABOUT THIS GAME ….IS TO BLOW A BIG LEAD / LET THE NETS BACK IN THE GAME —-GEEEZ !!—-BEER IS TASTING “BITTER ” AGAIN
Recover with an ice cold PBR before you go back to hitting the adventurous beers.
Korver is this team’s Antawn Jamison. Such terrible defense!
Oh, memories
Korver looking Korvorrible.
AGREE WITH THE DELLY POST ( AND HE WOULD HAVE BEEEN CHEAPER ) BUT THINK WE NEED A BIG 1ST / VIA TRADE AND BACK UP PT GD VIA FREE AGENT / PICK UP (SALARY DUMP )—LIKE THE WAY THEY STARTED THE 3RD —-BEER TASTE BETTER— WHEN THE CAVS PLAY BETTER
James is smoking right now. LEt’s go up 30 so he can sit in the fourth.
Cavs doing a nice job of putting LeBron off the ball and rolling him to the post.
Now that the Cavs are defending well and have build a good lead we can see the body language from the Nets is changing.
Now they look tentative.
JR in the broadcast booth.
Keys jumper starting to look sharp again.
If I would have to pick, I’d think we’re missing Delly more so than Moz. But I also agree we need another big.
LIKE I MENTIONED IN AN EARLIER POST EVEN “IF ” WE WIN DOES IT MAKE US FEEL BETTER —-ANSWER— AT PRESENT IS —NO NOT THE WAY THEY ARE PLAYING AGAINST A VASTLY INFERIOR TEAM
I like the energy, and some movement on offense this game. But man, we suck on defense right now. We’re mediocre to be honest so far this season.
RJ! Let’s hope that gets your confidence going.
JUST TUNING IN –HOW ARE WE LETTING A ” LOPEZ-LESS-NETS ” HANG AROUND—-TY PROBABLY GOT THE “MANDATE ” FROM UNCLE DAN TO PLAY KSHRIMP JUST TO PISS OFF LEBRON — CAN’T UNDERSTAND LIGGS NOT PLAYING —-HOPE IT IS NOT FROM LEBRON’S RECENT COMMENTS
The real headline is no Joe Harris for the Nets.
Garbage d.
The Cavs may win this but they look awful.
Contest!: Without looking, which is the last team with a winning record beaten by the Cavs?
The fact that I am still thinking isn’t good
Golden State??
Too hard? Okay, I’ll make it easier: was it before or after the start of 2017?
I’d guess it was in 2016.
I think Charlotte
Winner! Charlotte on January 1, 2017.
And Unless we beat OKC on the 29th, we’ll have gone more than a month in between wins against .500 or better teams.
Cripes. Hamilton ourrebounding TT. Is there any doubt the Cavs could use some size?
Griff and Lebron doesn’t agree with you.
At the top of the Nets broadcast, Fratello said the Cavs miss Delly and Mozgov (though he didn’t say that was the cause of the current slump).
I wholeheartedly agree with that. Those were two guys we could have resigned cheaply in 2015, as well. Hindsight, I guess.
Definitely need size. And there isn’t much chance of us getting any, either. No draft picks, no free agents. And bigs are notoriously hard to trade for because of how much they are valued. Its Thompson or bust.
Eric Moreland!
Hamilton looks like a thin HiPitch Eric
“I’m not high-pitch. I’m Kelly Clarkson.”
Now McRae playing before Liggins. WTF
Maybe showcasing him to improve his stock before the deadline? Or maybe Coach Lue can’t still find the go-to rotation with all the injuries and our late funk. I think it’s the latter
McRae playing before Liggins is insane. Check the final numbers — Liggins: 1 assist in 3 min. McRae: 1 TO in 9 minutes. That is all.
TT, move your feet.
Ugh, defense guys.
Great Kev!!!
Let’s go Cavs!!!
Including so far tonight, the Cavs are shooting 57 of 107 from the line the last five games. That’s 53.3%. For compairson:
Dwight: 56.5%
Whiteside: 55.2%
Cavs: 53.3%
D. Jordan: 51.4%
We are better off if Dwight Howard took all our free throws for us.
Shooting 55% tonight.
Correction: we are not shooting 45.5% from the line this game. New strategy against Cavs: Hack-a-anybody.
“Now”, not “not.”
Now that is crazy
Thanks, a few chuckles here.
It’s better than Jordan….not sure what more Cavs fans want??????? /s
How’s James and bench bunch doing tonight? Seems like they are letting em back in it? Not able to watch.
Not bad. They were actually pushing the ball.
I don’t know if Lue has a dog house, but Liggins must be in it
Is nice to see Lebron attacking more. No hesitation. Everytime he holds the ball the defense gets set and the Cavs don’t end up with a good shot.
Deep fryed! Nice triple.
Decent start from the Cavs defensively but it seems that opposing teams feel like they can drive the ball against the Cavs at will.
Nets coach looks like Bill Nye.
HAte this lineup. hope it doesn’t suck.
Shoot that, Kyrie!
Luis Scola is terrifying looking.
When he’s 70 he’s going to look pure insane.
IRving’s been settling for that stepback three way too much.
Nice up and under !
Damon Jones look like a member of the Nation of Islam with that haircut.
Over under on King’s minutes tonight?
38 you takin over or under?
I would really like to take the under, but I can’t.
KLove with some air under that jumper!
Early returns show they are in the same poor head space.
I say as they suddenly start to pull away.
Spencer Dinwiddie would’ve been a good Cav.
You would think after that debacle the other night the King would hit his freebies.
Cavs draw first blood after four misses.
Second blood, I guess.
