Live Thread: Cavs vs Thunder
2017-01-29https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGJHn-J_7TE
Russell Westbrook, Enes Kanter in a cast, and the rest of the Thunder roll into Cleveland this afternoon to take on the Cavs (play the video to see Enes breaking his forearm with a temper tantrum). LeBron is 6 points from scoring 20,000 for the Cavs. Cleveland is only down J.R. in the injury report.
If there’s ever a team that you need to “cut off the head of the snake” to defeat, it’s the Thunder, as Westbrook averages 31, 10, and 10 in less than 35 minutes a night, doing everything the Thunder need. While containing Westbrook is key, it’s limiting his ability to help his teammates that will give the Cavs the win. With Kanter going down, look for Steven Adams to get more touches, and for Victor Oladipo to be a secondary slasher. Russ, Steve, and Vic are coming of 45, 17, and 15 point games, respectively.
Domatas Sabonis stretches the floor as a big man for them and Andre Roberson is a lock down defender who can guard four positions and hit a three every now and again (though he’s only at 26% this year). Should be a good test for the Wine and Gold.
My question is, how do we trade for Joel Embiid? Haha I love that guy.
1st b2b win for Cavs in over like 3 weeks.
Thanks Captain Obvious.
Whatever not Cavs fan
Usually you provide thoughtful comments. This seems more like troll… We are well aware of Cavs recent performance. I give my consent to any Cols response to this comment.
When does he/she provide thoughtful comments? When she is elling us how great the frauds are? When he is complaining about Shumpert or any number of OUR players?
You talk about the great warriors team more than me. Your every post refers to them. Every time you call the team, you are confirming that warriors are in your mind and probably having nightmares.
Ok, you knock it off too, or I’m sending g you both to your rooms and when you come out you’ll have to hug each hand other for five straight minutes.
nate, I ignore him until he responds to my posts or refer to me.
The old “he started it!” defense.
Ha. OK. I’ll stop responding. But yeesh, this is the only board I’ve ever seen where we tolerate a frontrunning fan of our biggest rival to come in and make disparaging remarks about the Cavs. If I stop responding (and I will) we need someone else to step up and be the troll police.
How is stating a fact “disparaging?”
Nate, like I said, it’d be OK coming from someone who was a Cavs fan. That it’s coming from a frontrunner and it’s just meant to annoy the living crap out of us while preaching that he’s just stating a fact and it’s actually positive is pure trolling.
Trust me, I know how this works.
Really guys? How about a little thicker skin. This is as far from a troll job as anything. It’s true. Cavs have been slumping. We should be happy about back to back wins.
I mean, I’m hardly OFFENDED. Just won’t stop Cols. Not that any of us can stop Cols haha. It is true. I am happy about it. I just didn’t get “pointing it out to you so we can enjoy it together” from the comment.
It’s totally OK for a Cavs fan to say this. But it’s not OK for a not Cavs fan (even worse a front running fraud fan) to come on a CAVS BLOG and say this. That’s called…trolling.
Seriously. You are not the trolling Police. If you can’t act Lake a sane and civil human being when someone (whether a Warriors fan or not) posts something that is completely innocuous, then you need to start ignoring that person entirely.
+1. I actually saw it positive for Cavs fans and posted.
not really, I saw the comment some where, was surprised, confirmed and posted here. It is actually +ve sign.
OKC is a fun team to watch.
4th overtime!
The Thunder are playing arguably the worst basketball to watch this year. Westbrook hijacks the offense in an almost unprecedented way. I kinda get why Durant left him. Going to the team that beat him? Not so much. He will always be a coward in my eyes. Anyway, tonight must have been the emptiest and most undeserved triple double (this side of Ricky Davis) I have seen in a long time.
Durant choked away a 3-1 lead. He was horrible.
I hate the combination of chocolate and orange.
Is this a meaningless response to Cols repetition? If so I laughed at loud under this assumption. Or am I missing something?
My cat’s breath smells like catfood
You are correct.
JUST HEARD ON THE NEWS –KLOVE NOT TRAVELING WITH THE TEAM—-GEEZ THAT SUCKS—HOPE IT IS NOTSERIOUS
It’s a pretty long trip for one game. And travel is hard on the back. So it’s smart to keep him home and getting treatment even if it isn’t that serious.
ETA: Though now I see he’ll have an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully it’s just precautionary.
Hawks-Knicks has gone to 3rd overtime. Great game!
Westbrook is the kind of player that Shumpert is great at guarding. Players that rely on their physical tools rather than their skill, going more north-south than east-west. This is why Shump gives the impression that he is an elite defender, when actually he is a hyperactive but not smart defender, who can be fooled very easily and is a very mediocre team defender.
Interesting analysis
Tristan was a monster today. Game ball goes to Kyrie. He only made good decisions with the ball. Shump was great defensively. Lebron played too much again. He looked more engaged though on defense.
That was easy
HOPING KORVER CAN FIND HIS SHOT ON MORE CONSISTENT BASIS —–DUNLEAVY WITH 12 FOR THE HAWKS TODAY +20—OH WELL—–GOOD WIN BY THE CAVS / HOPE THIS JUMPSTARTS THEM AGAIN ——ALSO HOPE KLOVE IS O.K.
I LIKE THE ORANGE —WE PLAY FASTER / MORE AGRESSIVELY WITH THEM ON
Boy is Westbrook fun to watch. He is a wonderful talent in this league.
He might be my least favorite player to watch. He is a freak of nature, makes 2-3 plays per game that wow you and another 10-15 when you question if he has seen a basketball before. I cn’t stand those. Also, Harden may have the reputation, but Westbrook is a decent flopper himself and often egregious in trying to draw fouls.
He’s averaging s triple
Double. He’s better than you think.
I never said he is not good. I just hate watching him hijack an offense for an entire season. Give 2009 Lebron the same usage rate and I bet the house his numbers would look even more impressive.
If he were on my team I might have a problem with it. Just watching from the outside? I don’t mind one bit.
IS THAT A WORD ” BOOBIESHUMP “
SOMEHOW WE NEED TO GET MORE FROM THE BENCH ( DON’T LIKE LEBRON GOING PUBLIC WITH HIS FRUSTRATIONS —BUT UNDERSTAND HOW HE FEELS )
With JR healthy, we’ll have Shump, Korver, & Frye out there. RJ finding his shot would help. He’s gotten some layups.
Ky is awesome! Dropping dimes. Drives. Layups. Deep 3s.
It’s so weird to have Boobie back with the Cavs.
Shump is wet.
That was a really bad inbounds pass.
Awful pass there. I don’t get the Felder as pick setter offense.
Korver is absolutely murdering the Cavs. Missing everything, and a complete sieve defensively
If Frye & Korver aren’t hitting 3s, this lineup is awful. It is always awful on D. This pttern of 2nd/4th quarter issues is real.
It’s the Kay Felder sets picks for LeBron and Korver misses wide open corner 3s 4th quarter. How many times have I seen this in 2017????
Back to the Liggins walkabout right before the end of the first half…

DID LOVE FIND SOME ” LEFTOVER SEA BASS ” THROW IT OUT KEV !!
Felder might have gotten a block there on Payne. At least a 6-inch height difference.
Alright let’s not make this interesting
Missed the start of 3rd. Love out, what is the word?
Back spasms, will not return.
OKC is zero % from deep. I’d like to see Love get some elbow touches.
Getting there
Love it if they actually called fouls when Lebron is driving. Great half though, wonder if Westbrook wants a few playmakers.
UP BY 13 WITH KLOVE ( AT LEAST ON OFENSE ) A NON FACTOR AND ONLY SHOOTING AROUND 25 % FROM 3 —LET’S COME OUT THE 2ND HALF / SAME –BETTER EFFORT—PUT THIS TEAM AWAY AND START TO GET OUR “MOJO ” BACK —GO CAVS !!
That was fun. Cavs rule.
TT with a great block on Westbrook, and then another on Oladipo at the buzzer for good measure.
Lol Liggins
Liggins traveled there. 4 steps at least.
In a game where we didn’t hit a 3 in the first quarter & Love has 1 pt, we still put up 58.
CONGRATS LEBRON—BEST HALF BY THE CAVS IN A LONG TIME —NEED THE 2ND HALF TO BE JUST AS GOOD / OR BETTER —GO CAVS —-” BEER IS NOT BITTER –WHEN THE CAVS PLAY BETTER “

Damn and thats with 4 years in Miami too..
How is Kobe not on this list?
Oh ‘active’ duh
Nice defensive effort
A flurry of D there. I like it. Good effort.
WOW KY A “MAGICIAN ” WITH THE BALL—-HEY RUSS YOUR ” J STRAP ” IS IN THE 3RD ROW
https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/825817776392642562
IS KLOVE SICK / HURT ?
He is moving very gingerly. Been watching him a lot
The announers can’t tell tell he white guys apart. Kover, Singler, & Sabonis have all been miss-ID’d with each other.
NEED MORE OF THAT BALL MOVEMENT/ CUTTING —MAKES THE GAME ALOT EASIER
Like Griff said, the complaceny is on the court, not off it.
Frye off the dribble with the fadeaway!
JUST DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANY “SENSE OF URGENCY ” ON THEIR PART TO COMPETE—-ONLY ” SENSE OF URGENCY ” IS TO AQUIRE A BACK UP PT GD/ PLAYMAKER ( ACCORDING TO CAVS PLAYER (S) )
Well that was a forgettable quarter
OKC playing good D. Offense is wilting.
glad I’m getting on a plane in 20 minutes so I don’t have to watch this
Here comes the layup drill against the Cavs “defense”! I wonder what does Coach Lue tells his guys in the off days? The defensive approach is still the same.
Jog on D from Love after this miss. Early returns say we haven’t learned didley from these losses. Swicthing to the soccer game.
Love has a good sweat going.
Good play from Shump there as I was going to say Korver should start.
Our transition D is awful. After misses & makes.
TT and Shumpert are the only 2 guys playing with the right effort.
TT makes 2 at the line!
Mack isn’t much much of a 3PT shooter. He is a decent #PG who can run an offense, defend, and eat some regular season minutes. He’s 26, same age as McRae. The fit for the roster is improved.
BE LOUD MIKE FOR ALL OF US HERE ON THE CTB
At the game representing CtB today.
Tip Off program says James averages 29.5 vs OkC in 23 career games. Matches his best output vs any team of 29.5 vs the Celts. Sitting a few rows from Doris Burke. Need a DB fathead
Is Kanter an early candidate for the dumbest person in sports for 2017?
COLS READ YOUR EARLIER POST ( FEDERER ) ARE YOU A TENNIS FAN / PLAY ?—–JUST CURIOUS —–YES MUST “CUT OFF THE HEAD “—STILL FEEL THAT WESTBROOK MIGHT GO FOR 40 OR 50 TODAY ——READ ABOUT CAVS INTERTEST IN SHELVIN MACK—REALLY DOESN’T ” MOVE THE NEEDLE ” FOR ME / CAN ‘T SEE WHERE IT IS THAT MUCH OF AN UPGRADE —–THE WIN THE OTHER NIGHT WAS EXACTLY THAT A “W” IN THE WIN COLUMN / NOT SURE IT ERASES ALL THE INFERIOR RECENT PLAY—A WIN TODAY WOULD HELP ME FEEL MUCH BETTER —-TODAY’S CRAFT BEER SPECIAL—–” FOUNDERS –KBS “—SPECIAL… Read more »
