Links To The Present: “Why Rest In The First Week Of February?”

February is off to a pretty sweet start for The Cleveland Cavaliers. After their win against the Timberwolves,  the Cavs continued to improve this week with three straight amazing the Knicks, Wizards and Pacers, leaving our faces like this guy above.

Before I get to anything related to the Knicks or Pacers, I can’t get over what many have called “the best game of the season.” As most of us know, the win in D.C. was Kevin Love’s best game of the season. He scored 39 points, gave fans three after three, worked the floor and broke the Washington Wizards’ home winning magic alongside the 2017 NBA All-Stars, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. The Big Three put on a show this game.

From Kyrie simply doing Kyrie things and scoring 23 points…

…to the first player to rank in the top 20 for points, assists and steals for his career and his shot that sent the game into overtime.

The Cavs were *insert fire emoji* during the neck-and-neck game that earned them a 140-135 victory.

After a nice 111-104 win against the Knicks, the only thing I currently care about that relates to the Knicks is LeBron leaving Carmelo where he stands and setting the story straight on trade rumors for Love and Anthony. James and Anthony are good friends, but right after Love’s game against the Wizards, there was no way he would give that man up.

“It’s trash and the guy that wrote it is trash too. For writing that, especially during the game like that,” said James of New York Daily News reporter, Frank Isola after the game.

We also got the news of ex-Heat and Knicks forward, Derrick Williams coming to Cleveland for a 20-day trial period to see if he can help the Cavs and give LeBron some time off. Although he’s hopped around a lot since he was signed in 2011, it doesn’t hurt to try and see how his 10-day contract goes. The possible permanent Cavalier also happened to contribute 12-points during the OKC game, not wasting any time at all.

Enough of the Knicks, though; let’s share a little snippet of how Korver is the perfect piece to a Cavalier’s puzzle.

It was proven in Wednesday’s game against the Pacers where Korver reached his highest point total of the season with 29 along with eight 3-pointers and seven assists, Korver helped contribute to history.

Despite being a new guy, Korver has managed to help stabilize the bench, notes the Plain Dealer’s Joe Vardon. Kyle’s grown more comfortable with his team after his midseason trade and quickly become a major key to the Cavaliers. Meanwhile, Tristan Thompson has become more of an offensive threat, and Iman Shumpert has gradually improved after coming back with an ankle injury. Frye and Jefferso have given exceptional performances this past week, and different bench players have been contributing fairly well. Maybe they don’t need that playmaker after all.
