2017-02-28Andrew Bogut has committed to sign with the Cavs upon clearing waivers Wednesday night, according to league sources.
Andrew Bogut has committed to sign with Cleveland Cavaliers, league sources tell @TheVertical.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 1, 2017
According to ESPN.com, Bogut and his agent David Bauman began notifying interested teams Tuesday night that the Center had chosen to sign with the Cavaliers despite interest from Houston, San Antonio and Boston.
Sources: Andrew Bogut strongly considered Houston and Boston, made decision on Cleveland tonight. He's expected to sign this weekend.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 1, 2017
Bogut is not expected to join the Cavs until this weekend. Cleveland will also have to release a player to create a roster spot to sign him after signing Deron Williams yesterday. Bogut, who spent most of the year with the Mavericks, averaged 3.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 blocks in 22.4 minutes per game. He should provide exactly the front court depth and additional rim protection the Cavs were looking for as they make their stretch run into the post-season.
When we asked for a quote from David Griffin… he simply did this…
Hate to see guys get hurt like that. Hope it’s not as serious as it sounds…

Interesting that they are going all in on the super villain thing…
Breaking news on ESPN… Warriors scrap plans to bring in Jose Calderon, and instead sign Matt Barnes in wake of KD injury…
Does Ethan Sherwood Strauss have braces? Dude looks like he’s a teenager…
BTW, I was wrong about everything how wiz warriors game would have played out.
Hard to predict the KD injury though…
Really am sorry about the KD injury. Hopefully, it’s not too bad. Wish everyone the best of health, on every team.
Out of atleast a month. My guess, will not be back in game shape until 2nd round. Matt Barnes though, a good addition. Warriors have enough players who can play SF but not anyone who can play 4 behind Draymond, now Matt Barnes will be that stretch 4 behind Draymond.
Cavs bench:
6. Threezus 7. D-Will Min 8. D-Will Big 9. RJ 10. Frye 11. Shump 12. Bogut 13. Liggins 14. JFJ
Warriors Bench:
6. Iguodala 7. Livingston 8. West
Will be interesting to see how Lue manages playoff minutes. Warriors are still very solid 1-8
Hopefully it gives us ability to be very creative with matchups. Showing different looks from game to game and series to series
McGee is a legit guy for GSW. That’s 9. Calderon will make 10. Positionally: Calderon, Livingston, Iggy, West, McGee. Clark is #11. Only 13 can suit up.
McCaw will be in playoff rotation, he is good, a steal by dubs. Calderon and Clark will fight for #10. Depends on matchup, Kerr like to use West or McGee as first C off bench. For energy, he puts in McAdoo.
We have 12 guys who are legit rotational level players. Starters: Ky, JR, James, Love, TT. Reserves: D-Will, Korver, Shump, RJ, D-Will, Frye, Bogut. Plus we have 2 more guys who are good at doing what they do: Liggins (defend), & Champ (shoot). Felder is really the only guy on the roster I don’t trust right now. 14/15 is strong. This team is DEEP (if we ever get healthy). Just in time, too. It is really only 10+ Liggins/Shump at the moment. So Lue won’t have that many issues. Get some guys some rest. RJ can miss a game here… Read more »
I’ve posted several times about there being five b2bs in March…
JR will take LeBron’s place with the first unit when he leaves early to get a breather before coming back in late in the first and third with DW-F, DW-G, AB and KK. Also Lue said today that TT has been playing hurt with knee tendonitis. TT denies if of course. Anyway, it will be great to cut TT’s minutes way down for a few weeks to get the knee in top shape for the playoffs. This can be more minutes for CF and AB. Apparently AB was getting details on how he would fit in the rotation from the… Read more »
Plus his pal Delly weighed in…
Will be interesting to see if Lue can manage a real rotation now – has depth coming out his ears once JR and Love are back
Amazing how Griff has been able to improve the team without giving anything up. Having a big enforcer is going to improve the team’s confidence and focus going into the post season. This will really help us hang onto the top seed.
Excited to see how good the defense can be in some limited stretches with Bogut, as well.
Wow… Joe Johnson just threw the ball to a Thunder player under the hoop…
Kay showing off his moves in Canton… a place he’ll probably be for a while…
https://www.instagram.com/p/BRFHx6Dh0z_/
That was really nice
Jazz miss a wild three… but get the rebound and call timeout…
OKC up 108-106… Russ has scored 14 consecutive points…
Russ has 43/10/10 and just put the Thunder up by one with a foul shot coming…
That was an MVP crunch time performance by Russ
For sure… impressive showing against a tough Jazz team…

Possible initial second unit if Lue goes with straight platoon rotations: DWill, Korver, Derrick, Frye, Bogut.
Exciting times.
Probably the deepest team Lebron has ever been on.
Replace Frye with LeBron and you have it.
Thunder/Jazz another good game… 96-95 OKC with three minutes to go…
It’s going to be so interesting the next few weeks to see Lue design the rotations. McRae will likely be cut. Kay Felder, Liggins, Shump, RJ, JFJ could all be out of the initial rotation. Adjustments will be made from night to night based on rest and match-ups and how well certain guys are performing.
I think RJ will definitely stay in the rotation. Shump may see fewer minutes. As you say, it will be interesting. Just glad we will be playing more than 8 regularly
Agree, RJ will stay in there… although I’m sure he could use a little rest in the stretch run…

Echoing a few others, I think the big win with the Bogut signing is blocking him from other teams. Probably won’t play much, but is a great insurance policy. He also could probably bait Draymond into a suspension without much effort.
The Wizards won tonight… but so did the Wizard…

I hate the Warriors, but hope Durant isn’t out for the season. Mainly because ESPN will spend weeks writing about Steph’s incredible perseverance and greatness despite his “adversity.” But also because I’d love the Cavs to beat them straight up, no excuses on either side.
I really doubt it’s anything like that…it might impact him in some way for a few weeks, though…
For example, Michael Beasley had a hyperextended knee, and he’s expected to miss a few games…
Hopefully not, but you never know with knee injuries.
Wiz take down the Dubs… MRI for KD coming shortly…
Hits second one… probably ballgame
Morris at the line… hits the first one
Curry misses a big shot again. He has not been clutch like Irving
Steph now 2-9 from three in this game…
And 0-11 last game right? He MUST be hurt….
Butt-hurt…
Feelings hurt too
Steph misses a three from about 35 feet… Wiz get the board with 3.7 left…
Porter makes them both… Wiz by 2
Wall misses, but Porter somehow grabs the o board and gets fouled…
Steph just tied it after almost turning it over off his foot…
Dubs/Wash game one of best games this season I think
Dray hit a three to tie it at 106… then Wall just got his 19th assist on an alley oop from almost half court to Morris…
No doubt Bogut is better than McRae
Winning sure does attract winners, huh? I think a healthy Bogut’s floor will contribute more than McRae in terms of giving guys rest, and his ceiling makes him a valuable playoff contender.
I’m still wrapping my brain around how great of an addition Korver was to the team, and barely evens coming to grips with Derrick’s contributions; adding Deron and Bogut at the playoff deadline is almost absurd. The fact that a lot of these guys have experi nice playing together should help them gel. I can’t wait for the next game.
They will all be on the court together for the first time (minus JR and Love) on Monday against the Heat reportedly…
Porter just hit a huge three… Wiz up 102-100 with 2:39 to go…
Dude has been Korver like from three this year. Korver as a Cav that is.

Heck of a game now in DC…
Kevin Durant gets hurt and Bogut wants to play for Cleveland… I’m thinking the bets are now favoring Cleveland.
Side note – sucks it was Durant and not Green who got hurt. Green is a dumbass and shouldn’t be able to play on this league with all his actions on/off the court.
Another great addition for Griffin and the Cavs. On another note KD left tonight’s game with a hyperextended knee.
Yeah. Hope he’s OK. I don’t want them to have any excuses
I agree.
Dubs have come all the way back on the Wiz… they probably needed Jennings…
Got a true enforcer that can actually play, unlike Perkins. Excited for what Bogut brings. Hopefully, he can still be a defensive force, and if not he is still one of the best passing and perhaps the best screening big man in the game. I am sure his post game is still legit too, even if he has lost a step due to the injuries. I hope Lue trusts his bench now and actually utilizes a 5 man second unit at least for the remainder of the regular season. We may now be, after all, the deepest team in the… Read more »
Can he play though? That’s the big question.
I am hoping. Again, maybe injuries have slowed him down. If not, we know what he adds. If so, we lose McRae. Bogut, since he can still be an enforcer and still set menacing screens will still be an upgrade over net negative Orange Mamba.
Vince Carter… HAVE SOME!
https://twitter.com/TheCrossover/status/836759005439623171
Mercy…Vince lucky he didn’t get his a$$ kicked on th court for that…
Thanks Delly!
https://twitter.com/daldridgetnt/status/836754209366233089
He will be a cav again before he retires
Delly always assisting…
Good. He remembers that LeBron got him PAID. Smart move by Delly.
Yikes! Cols has something good to say about Delly. He must be smoking and listening to Phish.
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi,oi, oi !!
HaHaHa! That was a great night. I saw the highlights on TV. Maybe there is still time for an Aussie night this season?
And, how about one at an Indians game? They could have AB and MD both throw the first two pitches.
David Aldridge got a text answer from Bogut on why he chose Cleveland. ” I heat it’s beautiful there this time of year.” Nice…,,.and yes it is beautiful
” hear”
Bogut apparently responded to David aldridge’s text “why Cleveland?” With a “I hear it’s lovely this time of year”
Love the Griff mic drop
This team is now ridiculously deep…
TAKE A BOW GRIFF !!——-SHUMP HAPPY OR NERVOUS ( ABOUT POTENTIAL LOSS OF MINUTES ) POSSIBLY
Not sur of his fit here but I’m glad t have him.
Even if he doesn’t play much… I’m still glad he’s not on the Celtics…
Griffin, you are absolutely unreal. Unreal.
” BELIEVELAND ” RULES !!!!—CAN FEEL THE EXCITEMENT RUNNING THRU THIS BLOG !!
GRIFF HAS SIGNED A FORMER #1 –#2 —# 3 —WITHOUT MAKING A TRADE —O.K. TY THE TABLE IS SET —GET READY TO SERVE ——-BELIEVE ME BOGUT WANTS TO LAND A FEW “HARD ” ONES ON HIS FELLOW TEAMMATES
Look at all the stuff you’ll be missing NOMAD!
Free NOMAD!!!
This is just surreal. After having every free agent ever reject Cleveland, and countless horribly run teams we now have, in Cleveland, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver, Deron Williams, Andrew Bogut, and for you tribe fans out there, Edwin Encarcnacion! All those years of heart ache are finally paying off!
Well, the Browns are still a bit off the pace.
I think this Griffin guy might get a new contract from cavsdan. Hope Bogut puts a few hard legal screens on Curry. Drop the mic for sure
WELCOME ANDREW—ANOTHER AUSSIE WITH AN ATTITUDE—LOVE IT —BRING IT ——-ADIEU MAMBA
They did all they could…no idea if it will be good enough, but hard to imagine how they could have done better…
In case you didn’t see, I wrote on the game summary I agree with you on the impact Bogut could have on his former team for whatever minutes he is on the court. Unlike Andy’s feigned tough guy act vs his former team, Bogut will play with some genuine fury against GS.
Yeah, I saw it, thanks Mike. I think, if healthy, he’ll be about 5 times more playable than Andy last year.
