Live Thread: Cavs vs Jazz

To say that the Cavs were hot last game would be an understatement. The Cavs were so hot that my eyes hurt looking at the first quarter stats. While I do not expect the team to start 10-of-10 on 3-pointers and shoot 69 percent from the field, I do expect a great game. Hayward has always loved playing against Lebron, and now that Hayward has emerged as a truly elite player, it should be a marquee game for him. The Jazz match up with the Cavs in all the right ways, with elite size and a skilled forward. Hopefully the Cavs can demonstrate that the early month losing streak was just a hiccup on the way to the 1st seed.
Update: Kevin Love will be making his return. Bring out the lil Kev.
The problem with the Jazz is they have to work so hard for a good shot. With the Cavs Irving and LeVron and Love just go.

I guess Lue said Kyrie’s issue was not serious. Hope he is ready to go for the Clippers Saturday. If we get that one, we could sweep this trip.
We need to get healthy. It is so important now at this point in the season. There is no more time.

Best defense I’ve seen in a while From Cavs
Some lapses against Ingles and some trash buckets from Iso Joe were the biggest lapses. Rudy killed them in the boards and finishing, but that is a tough guard. They shut down Hayward and Hill and that was the best part. RJ and JR were great in second half. Even Frye had some nice plays. No Kyrie in the fourth too. Hope he gets the message.

Yep two good defensive games in a row. It’s been…..how long since we could say that? A month, two? Regardless, hopefully that means they are locking in for the stretch to be at peak come playoffs.
I like Kylie to be agressive but when the entire roster is healthy, I think 17-18 shots a game should be his norm. He should also be more judicious in his no-pass possession shots.
Mamba mentality has is drawbacks. Thing is, he can do so many amazing things, you understand it. When he overdoes it, it can mess the team up for stretches. It is a fine line to walk. He’s improved some. I hope having Deron here will help him with facilitation.
Gobert was not impressive
The Stifle Tower is the real deal. Snyder whining on missing 2 starters when we had Love on 20 min max, lost Kyrie & Shump during the game, & were missing Derrick & Korver.
Yes, 20 & 19 & altering tons of shots was pure trash.

Shump getting hurt is no surprise that guy is fragile as hell….would need KK back and of course Irving, but I think Irving will be fine….DWill is solid enough backup and JR can easily fit Shumps role….whats up with the other DWill?
Thigh contusion. He was out the whole game. Didn’t sound too serious. FWIW, Shump’s 63 games are 3rd on the team this year (TT 67, RJ 66).
Hope Kyrie & Shump are OK. IT is out a couple games. We have a shot to get some separation if we can take 2 games in LA.
Good win for us. Good team. A game we had to grind out & play good D to win. Korver & Enchilada out. Love on limited minutes. Kyrie & Shump go out during the game. We won the glass 52-48. RJ/Frye/D-Will were 1-13 on FGs, however, they had 12 rebs, 4 dimes, & 3 steals & were +1/+10/+9.
only saw second half….weird game….dont think Jazz are that good….Cavs just shot poorly and had bad turnovers early….but win is a win….interesting to see DWill finish this game and not Kyrie and TT barely being in game after 3rd quarter

eh for the last two minutes they put it away….JR’s 3 ended the game but before that Jazz had chances they just can’t shoot….surprised game was as close as it was…ugly shooting game by everyone except Gobert and Lebron

Yes, if all the other guys are healhty (Deron, Love, Korver, JR). We’d take a hit, certainly. If have confidence that Deron can ruv the offense.
I don’t know. I meant to say could not. I honestly, don’t think this team would be a playoff team without him. That is based off the eye test and record in past 3 three years. Maybe that has changed with their added depth, but I am doubtful.

Without LeBron, the Cavs would be in big trouble in the finals, but would probably get there. This assumes they had a month or so to develop a style that wasn’t totally centered on LeBron.
It’s possible, but they have had three years to come up with solutions for playing without LBJ. It still hasn’t happened. I certainly don’t think this team gets to the finals or even out of the second round without him, even if they did prove they could make the playoffs. Their record in non-lebron games and in non-lebron minutes implies they would be hard pressed to be 500 for a full regular season.

On the season cols, shots from iso for the cavs is less efficient for them than cuts (most efficient), rolling on the p and r, spot ups, handoffs, and shots off screens. It is only more efficient than shots from the p and r ball handler and postups. Facts courtesy of nba.com

Not according to nba. A shot off a screen, handoff, or rolling from the p and r do not in any way shape or form. A spot up might, a cut could but rarely.
