Has Chris Grant been seen since getting fired?
He’s been interviewed by some teams, as recently as last summer.
Also to push back on this nonsense, is there any sign that Griffin impatiently made moves instead of waiting for the right deal? Considering he waited until buyout season I’d say the evidence is zero.
Once again, to repeat myself. JR and TT are not overpaid for a starting two way SG and a starting iron man center on a championship team. Especially one where the options were sign those guys or sign no one because of cap reasons.
Especially when LeBron told them to hold out for it.
Anyone who think that LBJ is the GM or that Griffin needs to go through LeBron for every decision (like the fraudfan) needs to listen to the Lowe Post podcast this year where he has David Griffin on.
Or you can just repeat the myth that Griffin only does LeBron’s bidding. But if you are going to do that then I expect pushback from the greater Cavsthe Blog community on why this is wrong and shouldn’t be tolerated around here.
Lately, I have’t seen you support Shump and Mike Dunleavy. Do you still think they will help Cavs ? Do you still think Dunleavy replaced Delly.
Troll
Trolling a troll is not exactly trolling.
WF: Cols is not being juvenile at the moment, and you are. I might have to send both of you to your room.
Is it the playoffs yet?
Only 11 days left…. but a lot of games too….
I’m glad to see LBJ come out in favor of retaining Griff… Hopefully, they get a deal done
Yep. Easily the best GM the Cavs have ever had.
Chris Grant helped us a lot in the rebuild but Griffin finished the race!
Chris Grant was a good asset collector but had no idea how to build the team but he definitely helped until he drafted Anthony Bennett #1 overall which should disqualify him from ever being in an NBA FO ever again.
That is great news for Cavs. Now, he should let him do his job freely.
He’s always done his job freely. You would know this if you were a Cavs fan.
I’m not sure what you mean… I don’t think he’s impeded Griff from doing his job. I could see if you were making a case about the two Klutch clients (TT and JR), but otherwise I don’t see the evidence…
I wonder if warriorsfan is like Skip Bayless and goes on national media to say “LeBron needs to manage the cap better and squeeze JR under there”…..
If LeBron took a min salary, they’d still be over the cap……
nope, I am not as ignorant as Skip Bayliss. That guy is troll.
I’d guess that he’s referencing LeBron’s push for another playmaker when perhaps it would have been better to get a defensive wing/big. Though, the merits of either can be contested and clearly Grif was intending for Bogut to not get hurt in his first 58 seconds.
Go listen to the Lowe Post with Griffin. He will tell you this had no impact on his moves. Or you can believe gossip
I did listen to the podcast. If it were true its not like Grif would admit to it. I’m not saying I agree with it, just saying that there is, indeed, a case you could make.
In that case my theory is that it’s Kay Felder and James Jones pulling the strings on their puppet Griffin. Same amount of evidence if you want to believe whatever you want to believe.
+1 Yes, that is what I meant.
There’s no case that JR and TT got any sort of premium for being Klutch Klients in a world where Mozgov, Noah and Delly are making more than $10 M/year
I think that there is a case to be made that they did. But there isn’t anything definitive that you can say. I’d put more weight in Klutch pushing for hold outs being the primary cause. I still think that was a terrible idea for JR since he is always a slow starter at the beginning of the season.
Their salaries are not out of line for good two way starting SG and a starting center on a championship team. Maybe you can make a case that they are getting a small bump in salary because the Cavs are over the cap and have no choices. But you can’t make any case that it’s because they are part of Klutch. There’s no evidence at all.
well no one else was going to pay them those amounts. TT signed the year before the explosion and no one else was giving that combo of $/years to J.R. In both cases the Cavs bid against themselves a bit but can u imagine what a wreck they’d be right now without TT?
EG, I think Lebron has put Griff in lot of pressure and influenced decisions like re signing JR Smith, pushing for a PG and in general putting Griff under pressure with comments to press and to make moves in more urgent manner than like how a good GM waits for right deals plus JR Smith all along knew he has Lebron’s backing during his negotiations.
I thought that is what you guys thought so too. I will defer to you guys knowledge on the subject.
Actually, if LeBron had as much sway on the JR deal as you say, wouldn’t it have stood to reason that the deal would have been consummated much earlier in the summer instead of ending up in a holdout? Also, it was painfully obvious the team needed a backup PG from the moments they let Delly go, and then got screwed by Mo Williams’ flip flop. Griff absolutely waited for the best available guy in DWill, and didn’t pull the trigger on such LBJ friendly guys as Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole… I don’t think LBJ had anything to do… Read more »
+1. That is what I meant EG that Lebron puts pressure on Griffin. I absolutely think, Lebron influences Griff’s job and Lebron is not shy about making it public about his influence either.
College basketball sucks. What a horrible game last night.
Just as many fouls as field goals made… Zags had more fouls than FGM….
Seriously, that was a clunker of a game. One of the worst national finals ever.
It’s not always that bad, but that game was horrendous. Not just tough defense, nobody could make a shot….any shot…
