Live Thread: Hawks @ Cavs
2017-04-07After a muddy March the Cavs (51-27) have collected themselves and won four straight with their magic number to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference down to two. The Hawks (40-38) currently are in fifth place in the conference standings, but have dropped seven of their past 10 games as Paul Millsap missed eight of those tilts while dealing with left knee inflammation. Atlanta is just a game and a half ahead of the eighth place Pacers, and they factor to fall tonight as Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer is holding out Millsap, Dwight Howard, Thabo Sefolosha, and Kent Bazemore. Dennis Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr. are both listed as doubtful aswell.
.@WindhorstESPN: Tristan Thompson does have a torn ligament in his thumb but its not fully torn. He can play with it. #Cavs

Tristan Thompson’s 447 consecutive games played streak came to an end two nights ago as he missed the the Cavs bludgeoning of the Celtics. Thompson was scheduled to sit this contest as well earlier in the week as he’s nursing a slightly torn ligament in his thumb. With the Cavs magic number presumably dropping to one tonight, I’d anticipate that he’ll rest until the playoffs start in eight days. If anyone needs a breather, it’s Canadian Bacon after manning the center position solo for the majority of the season.
The action will be on Fox Sports Ohio at 7:30.
Everything is … awesome?
Russ assist hunting and playing like garbage. Devin Booker is the truth.
Oh, great. Irving’s left knee has been bothering him for a while. Good thing he won’t get to rest it now before the playoffs.
Just rest him. No one care about having the number one seed except Lue. The players sure as hell don’t. If he and LBJ both play in the away back to back, I’m going to stab my eyes out.
Focus just not there tonight. No hot hand to find with bad shooting from everyone not dunking. Just when you thought it was safe…
I will buy the idea that the Cavs are fully back defensively speaking when they find a way to defend the 3 ball. Haven’t looked at the numbers but the Cavs haven’t showed that they can guard the 3 ball well and guess who they are playing in the finals?
If they get there…there is a two or two in the East who can get hot from 3…
That’s my point, the Bulls swept the Cavs why by hitting 3’s. If the opposing team moves the ball against the Cavs they will get open 3’s . And I bet the Hawks will do the same on Sunday.
Apparently Francisco Lindor is still pissed about his error two days ago.
To be honest in the game vs the Celtics the Cavs allowed a lot of open 3’s to them but they just knocked down 7 on 33 attempts.
It wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.
