Final Preseason Live Thread: Cavs @ Magic (#ShortnotSweet)

Neither of these guys played much of the first four games of the shorter preseason this year… and don’t expect to see them out of their warm-ups tonight either as the games that don’t count part of the year comes to a close. We likely won’t see Isaiah Thomas until 2018, but hopefully we’ll see LeBron return for more than a cameo when the season starts in earnest on Tuesday against the Celtics.

Clearly the Cavs in general don’t put a lot of stock in winning preseason games anyway. After all, they’ve won just three out of their previous 20 warm up contests… and zero this truncated preseason. Expect to see limited minutes from the starters again tonight, as the Cavs look to keep the potential for injury to a minimum, while taking a last good look at those players currently residing on the bench bubble.

Ty Lue has already declared that Iman Shumpert will get the spot start in place of LBJ… and he’s even intimated that it was at the behest of frustrated former starter, JR Smith, who apparently requested to stay with the second unit (maybe he’s not as frustrated as has been reported).

Hopefully, we’ll see more good things from the aforementioned second unit tonight, as they have their final primer before they try to turn Kyrie’s flat world upside down in the season opener…

Oh, and in one interesting brewing rumor today… two Cavs could be on the move soon…

Cleveland is in advanced talks on a deal to send Richard Jefferson and Kay Felder to Atlanta, league sources tell The Vertical.
