Live Thread: Cavs vs. Nets (#TurkeyStuffingTime)
2017-11-22Before you dig into this veritable live thread feast… make sure you sample what Ben’s got cooking in his From Distance piece today.
As mouthwatering as the above image might be (apologies to any of our vegan friends out there), it should pale in comparison to how much seeing the Brooklyn Nets on the schedule tonight will make the Cavaliers salivate. After all, these expected cellar-dwellers have not only bucked their lowly expectations with a 6-10 record so far… but included a roasting of the Cavs in Brooklyn less than a month ago. Not exactly an appetizing prospect given that Cleveland is supposed to be thankful for in owning their first round pick next summer.
But, Thanksgiving is a time for coming together at home (as a family… or a team), and the Cavs should be well prepared this time around to stuff these turkeys and gobble them up. LeBron and company are coming off their most complete game of the season in a mashing of the Pistons on Monday, and despite their on-going injury woes (Derrick Rose, Iman Shumpert, Tristan Thompson and Isaiah Thomas are all still out), are cooking with five straight wins. They’re 7-3 in November and are starting to resemble the team we all hoped they’d be.
The Nets have lost their starting backcourt drumsticks (Jeremy Lin and D’Angelo Russell) for the year, yet are still fourth in the League in scoring (110.6 ppg), and are tops in getting to the charity stripe. They may also be without Trevor Booker tonight with a sprained ankle. The key for the Cavs tonight will be running the young and feisty Nets off of the three point line (they hit 17 in the last meeting).
Prediction: The Cavs make a meal out of this one and the revenge is just gravy… 119-106.
Catch all of the festivities on FSO starting at 7pm EST… and of course dive in on the commentary here…
GO CAVS! (gobble gobble)
Booker massive clutch 3 pt shot to send it to OT. Crowd giving thanks!
God I miss Dion.
Those postgame interviews I miss the most.
Mavs win on a lucky 3 at the buzzer. Bottom of league in term of wins:
3 = Hawks & Bulls
4 = Mavs & Kings (hosting Lakers)
6 = Nets, Clippers
7 = Memphis, PHX (playing now)
Like to see the teams slightly ahead of the Nets open up a gap on them.
It’s officially a perfect night… Cavs win, Celtics and Dubs both lose… Happy Thanksgiving!
Same to you !

It’s cosmically ironic that both Kyrie and Dion are now #11…

Dion stream of consciousness on NBA TV at the moment.
Pretty awesome…
Did he say “THIS IS MY CITY!!!”?
Wish I’d gotten some of it down, but the words came in great bursts. It was basically cliche, repeat, tangent!, filler, tangent! The interviewer didn’t have to do much besides say, “so, Dion…”
That jawing session between Westbrook and KD earlier was epic…nice to see Westbrook able to take it to the Warriors after he had to solo it last season…
Turning out to be a pretty solid pre-Thanksgiving night…
The streak is over… courtesy of St. Weirdo
Bet Dion enjoyed it…
As did I. Boston loses vs Dion. OKC handing it to GSW & Durant.
The Nets pick is totally lotto. They play hard, so they will win some if you coast against them. But only ATL & Chicago below them in the east. Only Sac & Dallas out west. 5th now. Lavine will give Bulls a boost. Have to think Carlisle & Bud get the Hawks & Mavs going a bit more as the season wears on.
LeBron definitely have an mvp season so far

dion outplaying ky tonight —-doesn’t surprise me —dion revenge game
Dion just DUNKED on em!
Put Kyrie on a POSTER
Lebron and Westbrook are the two players I’d most want to see live…
So far it’s Bron, Harden & Greek on the MVP race. If we continue this streak I think Bron is gonna be on the forefront in a week.
Irving will get it if the Celtics finish with the best record. MVP is all about narrative these days. Though Westbrook did deserve it last for doing something that might never be seen again in our lifetime considering it is the modern era and then pace is so so so much slower than the 1960s. And I am not talking about a triple double. I am talking a guard averaging 30 ppg shooting over 40 from the field and averaging a triple double in a era where the average number of rebounds per game is around 55-60 less per game… Read more »
I’ve never rooted so hard for the Heat… lol
Bray is so full of $hit…
He’s just the worst…

cavs win—celts / dubs both losing —could be a very good thanksgiving !!
If it pans out that way, there’ll be plenty to be thankful for tomorrow ;)
