Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls (#NoWhammies)
2017-12-04The Cavs find themselves in the Windy City tonight to try their luck at extending their winning streak to 12 against the struggling and Unrecogniza-Bulls. After dispatching the Grizzlies and their junked up gameplan with some late game heroics from LeBron James, Cleveland faces what should be an even less daunting task of beating the should-be-tanking Bulls. Yet, Chicago certainly has the bigs (Lauri Markkanen, Robin Lopez and Bobby Portis) to try replicating the unorthodox strategy both Memphis and Atlanta employed in the last two games to make them closer than expected.
The Bulls don’t yet have resident Cav killer, Nikola Mirotic, or Zach LaVine back, but two of their three wins on the season have come at home, and they did give the Cavs about all they could handle a little over a month ago in a 119-112 loss to the wine & gold. Cleveland had no answer for the speedy Justin Holiday back then… or for former teammate Kay Felder if we’re being honest. And, they might have to once again rely on LeBron to defend the opposing PG to avoid getting a whammy put on their win streak.
In an unrelated, but sort of related in a different way, development… former Bull and Chicago native son, Derrick Rose, has rejoined the Cavs after a couple weeks of uncertainty about his future. He’s not with the team though, ironically, since he’s back in Cleveland continuing his rehabilitation of his cranky ankle.
Prediction: The Cavs push their luck and go for “Big Bucks! Big Bucks! And No Whammies!” as they win the game 121-106 to push the streak to a dozen.
Catch all the action on FSO starting at 8pm EST… and don’t forget to chime in here…
GO CAVS! NO WHAMMIES!
Recap is up… kind of wrote itself…
Whoops posted, a comment briefly about tonight and mostly about the early to mid 2000s LBJ era in the recap from the last game. Reposted, awaited moderation probably for duplicate spam prevention. I realize hot takes galore regarding circa mid to early 2000s defense and Gilbert Arenas so fair warning.
So watched parts of the game tonight. Love looked great. Lebron looked weirdly gassed or disinterested for large parts of the third. No problem with that since it was the bulls. However, at a bar with no cavs game I decided to watch some old LBJ clips from his first cavs stint. I always thought back then and still think rewatching parts of the cavs Washington 2006 playoff series that LBJ was once the fastest player in the history of the nba. Not the quickest, but top end full court speed, the fastest by far. Secondly, agent zero, despite being… Read more »
111-65 Jazz over Wiz right now…what an embarrassment…
The Wiz have 38 pts with 6 min left IN THE THIRD QUARTER in Utah.
I know Wall is out, but damn. Gobert back. Mitchell with another strong game. Are the Jazz good?
Missed the game tonight. Seemed like we beat them by a decent margin. Why didn’t cedi get more than 5 minutes run?
Good question. Bulls did kind of get it down from 24 to around 13 late 3rd/early 4th. So Lue didn’t really pull the plug too early.
Bron played with the Dinobots in the 2nd.
Good question. He didn’t come in until surpreme garbage time, and the Cavs were up by 20+ almost the entire game…
Team record for wins is 13. Knock on wood.
Grizz hang on to beat Minny.
12 game streak. Not surprised at the win, but it’s nice to do what you’re supposed to do to terrible teams like this. Torch them. Kings up next…
That was a pretty sweet cross-court pass by Cedi.
Zizic with the O board…
Kay Felder would make a nice running back.
