Live Thread: Cavs @ Jazz
2017-12-30The Saturday night prime-time match-up features the 24-11 Cleveland Cavaliers vs the 15-21 Utah Jazz. I was a bit let down because I was hoping tonight would be a possible return game for Isaiah Thomas. Unfortunately, the Cavs don’t expect IT4 to return on or after January 2nd. The Cavs also host their usual stable of injuries in Iman Shumpert and Derrick Rose. Meanwhile, the Jazz are without their main star in Rudy Gobert, Raul Neto, and Dante Exum.
This match-up should be very manageable for Cleveland as they are coming off of a rough couple of games. Though LeBron has usually been as smooth as John Coltrane this season, the team didn’t bother to show up against the lowly Sacramento Kings and it resulted in a loss. Fortunately, the Jazz have a hard time scoring so the Cavaliers weak point, their defense, should be mitigated. I expect a win tonight for the Wine and Gold. If the motivated version of Cleveland shows up, LeBron and company will be looking to turn off the music in Salt Lake City.
could it be that we “feasted ” on the 30th easiest schedule and now that we are playing (sacremento excluded ) some legit teams that our flaws are being exposed——–also we are now almost 40 games into the season and we have to accept CROWDER is not what we hoped that he would be —–making the kyrie trade ( unless I.T. COMES BACK VERY STRONG )—makes this trade a BIG FLOP ——no panic button –just a reality check—-GO 2018 CAVS !!!
Ok. Let’s leave this loss along with the past and start the new year right. Improve on our deficiencies and maximize our abilities.
Another ring in 2018!!
Let’s go Cavs!!
First. Happy Birthday LeBron James!
JR just refuses to shoot much, and his D has been garbage all year. Probably not the best idea to have him on Mitchell…
Maybe Lue should start drinking?
If Lue drank he’d turn into Hue, and we don’t want that.
Can I get back on the JVG to coach the Cavs train? Or even Larry Drew?
Another game where Frye doesn’t play, Tristan does, and we lose. Glad I missed it.
I watched 10 seconds. The Cavs had the ball, up 10+ early, and LeBron casually jumped in the air for no reason & passed to no one & Utah got the ball back.
He does that 3-4 times a game.
It almost feels like he’s just testing lineups, at least that’s what I’m hoping is the case. Someone has to be smart enough at the organization to point out lineup flaws. I don’t know I guess if TT can roam around for lobs because no one respects his game, that’s fine, but he can’t be put in with other switch army knives. It would be nice if he could develop other parts of his game, instead of regressing. Maybe a trade would do him good.
Lol Love with 20-10 again, couldn’t let Alone Horford have more such games for even a day.
Happy Holidays from the Cabs!
holy crap they can’t even manage to get a 3 pointer off in less than 5 seconds at the end. a group of high school kids can do that in their sleep. you just…shoot it.
oh and of course no channing frye.
hopefully tt put up his ‘highlight’ reel tonight and canbe ditched now along with jr and shump. we need a guard who can play defense
shouldn’t have even turned this game on. you could feel this crap effort coming
0-3 road trip. Certainly not championship type caliber defense from the Cavs up late.
wow. garbage execution at the end here. dwade should never be taking those two threes. and korver being on the bench for the 35 second inbound? Lue…what the hell dude?
Korver was oooffff tonight
i mean jr has been smoked all game long – front door, back door, all the ways
jr smith is categorically awful on defense. combined with klove on a pick and roll and its a damn trainwreck
Exactly.
That’s game.
Mitchell is the ROY!
I hate losing, but I also don’t really care a whole lot about the outcome of this game.
why is kevin ‘cant defend’ love on the floor
getting close…..
cavs keep playing decent defense for 15 seconds. that’s about as long as it’s lasting.
love your optimism—
Sometimes I feel lucky to not be able to watch these games. That helps.
Not watching the game, but near the start of the fourth, with the Cavs down single digits, I’m guessing the Cavs (should) win this one.
Quick! Trade TT now lol!
Didn’t see it, but apparently TT had an assist ! Christmas miracle!
I’m out. I can’t watch this crap.
Good night!
Just checked the scoreboard: 3 pts for Cavs vs. 21 for Jazz in the third. Ugh.
The Cavs let their offense dictate their defense and that’s never works well for them.
Again they just don’t care. Lazy pass from Wade and LBJ not getting back on D.
I don’t understand this team. It’s like they don’t care. They get punked and they don’t fight back.
This third quarter is putrid.
The Cavs cared like for the first 8 minutes of the first quarter. The same way they did against Sac.
The Cavs defense is so bad.
At times, LeBron’s turnaround J is simply unreal this year.
Wade gets beat on dribble drives too much
The Cavs get a lead and quickly forget to play D.
Trade TT to LA for Deng.
thank you codename —-and yes other g.m’s are realizing the lack of value in T.T. –going to have to be a package deal in order to trade T.T. and get some value in return
TT still useless!
solid 1st qtr —more focus –” less slippage “—-so far “wine tour ” proving to be “vintage “
I live in Northern California, but I grew up on the east side of Cleveland. I go to Cleveland once or twice a year to visit friends and family, and I just spent a week there for the holidays. It was cold, snowy, grey, and glorious. And once again I noticed an abundance of warmth and generosity in friends and strangers alike throughout the city.
Just wanted to give a shout out to the good people of Cleveland. Genuine, humble, rugged, caring, and kind.
Hitting the like button.
Nice work Green!
Happy Birthday LeBron!
that was beautiful executiog for the JR triple.
might as well get klove his pts now—ty will forget about him in the 2nd half
JR continues to get no love from the refs.
I don’t see Shump making over the vet minimum after his current contract expires, if he even stays in the NBA.

Is it just me or are the Cavs 1-3 since TT came back because Frye and Osman are getting less minutes?
You u are correct. Maybe Rose and Shump can return too, so we can play some more shitty players.
Also road games against good competition. The loss to the Kings was the only real stinker.
