Byron Scott Will Be Staying as Cavs Coach
2011-05-12No team has asked for permission to talk to Scott, who completed his first season with the Cavaliers in April. If a team asked, an NBA source said the Cavs wouldn’t allow it.
No huge news here, but it has been confirmed that Byron Scott won’t be coaching the Lakers next season. He will be, for better or for disastrously worse, the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the foreseeable future.

The team’s progress next season, with a key focus being the development of our rookies will prove Byron’s ability as coach.
I think Coach Scott did a good job, given the abysmal state of the Cavs’ roster after the departure of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. In spite of having a massive talent deficiency in at least 70 of their games, they played hard every time out and won some games they had no business winning [over the Lakers comes to mind, to name just one.] Let’s be honest: If God were the head coach and the Angel Gabriel his assistant coach this year, the Cavs wouldn’t have won more than 25 games.
