Live Thread: Cavs vs Wizards
2018-02-22After more than a week of no NBA basketball in Cleveland, the new-look Cavaliers return to action. The last time we saw these Cavs play they just finished off a convincing four game win streak which saw them beat the T-Wolves, the Celtics, and the Thunder. The last game against OKC was a pretty thrilling and convincing test for the new team before they were forced to pump the breaks and head into the all-star break. It will be interesting to watch the continued growth of George Hill, Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr. as they progress toward the playoffs.
The Wizards and Cavs haven’t met since December 17th. The game resulted in a 106-99 Cavs victory. Before General Manager Koby Altman had his official coming out party at the trade deadline, that game likely represented the last time Cleveland was playing good, sustained basketball. Luckily, Washington will have to face off against a whole new squad and a rejuvenated LeBron James. The King and his Knights of the Round Orange Ball will look to continue the success they had going into the break. If James’s play during the All-Star game was any indication and with John Wall still out with injury, they shouldn’t have any trouble maintaining their mojo. Go Cavs!
well it happened sooner than later, how will this team of new guys respond to a loss and how will Ty Lue adjust accordingly….felt team fell into same bad habits as before, think its also time for TT to play maybe 5 min max per game
12-19 including 4-6 from the three point line from Oubre and Satoransky (17 points each). I really doubt they will play like that again the rest of the season.
But again the Cavs have to be able to get stops at the end of games. I’m not sure that playing LBJ at center in the end of games will help that. It helps the offense but defensively is like giving a pass to the opposing teams to drive the ball constantly with no rim protection.
This off-season: draft Bamba, trade TT
How do you trade TT and his contract? It’s not expiring.
If u can’t dump him somehow than u get rid of lue and hire coach that won’t play him
Until Dan Gilbert asks the new coach, why are we paying TT $18 M a year to ride the pine.
You trade him and another contract for Anthony Davis…this isn’t hard…
In my opinion one of ty lues biggest deficiencies are the lack of ability to watch the game even when ur playing well and see who’s actually contributing to that and who we’re doing well despite being out there . First quarter was great but tt is detrimental and unless he’s scoring 10 points in every quarter -he’s detrimental to playing a flowing/moving/cutting/driving offense. Sometimes we play well even when he’s on the floor but that despite his not because of him. Lue doesn’t have the ability to see that. Lue has proven time and time again that he can’t… Read more »
Tt ruins everything on both ends , when we excel in hitting shots and ball movement -his presence is covered but when everything isn’t going soo great him being on the floor will make it almost impossible to win
Lue didn’t look like he had a coherent plan. They looked like the just threw a bunch of guys out there to see what happened.
This.
He needs to throw TT out there less, then, when the Cavs are behind…when he finally pulled him, Lebron was able to get to the rim multiple times…
When Love is back, I’m betting Cedi never sees the floor…frankly, I’d rather he play than Green, unless Cedi just can’t handle his guy, or something like that…
this game was fine; just looked out of sync most of the night. defense looked good for about 40 minutes.
tt was awful – such low bbiq.
need more cedi pls
The Wizards played an excellent game but again what I don’t understand is how the Cavs continue to struggle to defend that high pick n roll. If the Cavs get the Wizards in the playoffs they will definitely need to fix that.
I think with our current personnel it is Longibardi more than anything. Guys not sure what to do, or which way to shade.
It could be but I just hope Coach Lue addresses it. Now we can definitely expect a lot of that same offense from our next opponents until the Cavs figure out a way to stop it.
Left TT in too long…I thought he was okay in the first quarter…
if he doesn’t score 10 in the quarter than he was detrimentle for everything we need to do
Sloppy o. D miscues. Missed shots. I will say, Lue is probably going to have to install some plays with this team.
ASG hangover game.
Yep, that’s what I’d call it too.
It could be a little bit of that too but again the Cavs need to fix their defense.
The Wizards attacked Hill all night and really took advantage of him.
He definitely got beat some. The second half was full of poor rotations. Not necessarily due to effort but because guys didn’t seem to be positioned correct on p and r and didn’t know where to rotate to.
Thompson was a disaster
I would probably trade him for Jimmer Fredette…
Sat is a solid player.
When Wall returns, they will start losing in earnest…
That missed Hood three was a back breaker.
Well that was disappointing.
Didn’t trade for a new coach :(
If Hill made at least 40% of his shots the Cavs win.
True.
Ugh!!! Cavs can’t stop Beal!
LeBron bitching so hard he almost missed the ball.
Yeah, annoying…
Whelp that will do it
dang swish
Crap. JR fell asleep there. Need 2 scores and a stop.
Don’t get why Hill didn’t just grab the ball instead of trying to hit it off Oubre…Seemed like he had a good chance to just grab it…
Or let Korver grab it. Deserved loss. Too 3 happy. Sloppy early.
Kyle had a better shot at grabbing it. You never get mad at two guys going for the ball.
Great out of bounds play. Didn’t thinks Brooks had that in him.
He was great as Amy Schumer’s dad in Trainwreck
I have not seen that. Heard it was good tho.
Fell asleep on the Inbounder, JR.
Hill is not having a good game.
